On April 17, Stylo Cricketers and Madhukar G. Vartak Mem. S. C. clashed against each other during the Kanga League Knockout Tournament. Madhukar G. Vartak Mem. S. C. won the toss and elected to bat first.
Batting first, Madhukar G. Vartak Mem. S. C. were bundled out cheaply for 80 in 24.5 overs, thanks to Brijesh Sahani, who wreaked havoc with the ball. Sahani, a right arm opening medium pace bowler, rattled the opposition with his breathtaking figures of 6-22. He is an attacking speedster who clocks in at speeds of 130-135 kph. On the other hand, Madhukar G. Vartak Mem. S. C. had an off day with the bat as none of the batters looked in shape.
In reply, Stylo Cricketers made light work of the run chase as they achieved the total in 22.1 overs winning the match by six wickets. Ravi Yadav led the run chase from the front with a steady innings of 32. On the other hand, Madhukar G. Vartak Mem. S. C.’s bowlers looked listless as they failed to tame Stylo Cricketers.
Stylo Cricketers’ Brijesh Sahani was the top performer of the match. Sahani is popularly known as “Arrow Boy” since 2015 when a freak accident forced him to take a break from cricket. A teenager then, Sahani was practicing at the VPM Sports Complex in Dahisar when an arrow shot by an archer, who was practising there, hit Sahani in his head. The accident took place on January 16, 2015. Sahani’s teammates took him to the hospital immediately and thankfully the neurosurgeons were successfully able to remove the arrow from his head. It has been indeed incredible that Sahani was able to resume playing in the second innings.
On April 9, Cricket Xtreme Club locked horns against Kensington Cricket Club India at Fatima Ground in Vidyavihar, Mumbai during the JFSC Classic 5.0 tournament. Kensington Cricket Club India won the toss and elected to bat first.
Batting first, Kensington Cricket Club India piled up a fighting score of 5-177 in 20 overs. Lakshya Kochchar top scored with an unbeaten 41 off just 21 balls, including one boundary and four sixes. On the other hand, Rahi Shah was the most successful bowler for Cricket Xtreme Club as he struck with 2-33 in three overs.
In reply, Cricket Xtreme Club chased down the total in 19.4 overs, winning the match by two wickets. Shwet Patel muscled 53 runs off 39 balls to lead the run chase from the front. Patel was well supported by Anish Morkhia who packed a punch with an undefeated 46 off 18 balls. Morkhia hammered one boundary and five sixes during his blitzkrieg. Crucial partnership between Shwet Patel and Ashwin Balakrishnan laid the foundation for dramatic finish at the end. On the other hand, for Kensington Cricket Club India, Himmat Obhan and Amit Dahiya scalped two wickets each.
Anish Morkhia won the player of the match for his match winning innings of 46 not out off 18 balls. Morkhia guided his team Cricket Xtreme Club to a two-wicket win over Kensington Cricket Club India during the JFSC Classic 5.0 tournament.
On April 17, Cricket Xtreme Club took on Poddar Phantoms at Fatima Ground in Vidyavihar during the JFSC Classic 5.0 tournament. Cricket Xtreme Club won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Riding on Raviraj Shetty’s brilliant 75 off 42 balls, Poddar Phantoms posted a competitive score of 5-169 in 20 overs. Shetty, who opened the batting with Mangesh (48 runs off 53 balls) stitched a 105-run partnership in 13.3 overs. The duo played some good looking shots and ran well between the wickets. On the other hand, Rahi Shah was the pick of the bowlers for Cricket Xtreme Club as he claimed 2-30 in three overs.
In reply, Cricket Xtreme Club completed the formalities in 19.1 overs, winning the match by three wickets. Opening batter Suresh Achuthan led the run chase from the front with his 34-ball 49. Achuthan set the tone for the run chase as he plundered six boundaries and a six to top score for his team. On the other hand, for Poddar Phantoms, it was Harshal Khair who starred with the ball picking up 3-28 in four overs. Shreyans Mehtas composed support at the end ensuring the target is achieved comfortably..
Suresh Achuthan won the player of the match for his match winning performance of 49 runs from 34 balls. Ashuthan powered his team Cricket Xtreme Club to a three-wicket win over Poddar Phantoms during the JFSC Classic 5.0 tournament.

On April 16, Dell Technologies locked horns against Deutsche Bank at Oval Ground in Mumbai. This was the quarter-final of Oneworld Tournament. Dell Technologies won the toss and elected to bat first.
The opening pair of Chinmay Mohite and Dhruv Brid provided a flying start to Dell Technologies. The duo remained unbeaten at the end of 20 overs as they hammered delectable centuries. While Chinmay plundered a blistering 122 off 62 balls, including 17 boundaries and three sixes, Dhruv muscled a brilliant 100 off 58 balls, including 13 boundaries and two sixes. At the end of 20 overs, Dell Technologies posted a daunting total of 231 for no loss. Deutsche Bank had no answers to this blitzkrieg produced by Chinmay and Dhruv.

In reply, Deutsche Bank fought hard as they piled up 7-207 in 20 overs. Sanket K top scored with a quickfire 53 off just 22 balls while Nishant K provided a steady start with his 23-ball 45. However in the end it was too tall a task for Deutsche Bank as they fell shy of 24 runs. For Dell Technologies, Virendra Chaurasia and Chinmay Mohite wreaked havoc with the ball as they scalped 3-48 and 3-27 respectively.
Chinmay Mohite won the player of the match for his match winning all-round performance. Mohite scored 122 not out off 62 balls and picked up 3-27 in four overs to power Dell Technologies to the semi-finals of Oneworld Tournament.

On April 15 and April 16, National Cricket Club and DPC Sports Club clashed against each other at DPC Matunga, Mumbai during the Purushottam Shield. National Cricket Club won the toss and elected to bat first.
Riding on Sumit Dekhale’s blistering 143 off 68 balls, National Cricket Club piled up a mammoth 309 in 52.1 overs. Coming in at number nine, the left handed Dekhale smashed 12 boundaries and 11 sixes during his blitzkrieg. On the other hand, DPC Sports Club’s bowling attack was led by Yogesh Sawant, who wreaked havoc with 7-99 in 21.1 overs, including two maidens. Sawant, a left arm spinner, bowled the maximum number of overs for his side and looked the most impressive.
In reply, DPC Matunga Sports Club were bundled out cheaply for 142 in 36.4 overs. Aditya Srivastava top scored with 47 runs off 81 balls, while for National Cricket Club, Shashikant Kadam and Sanket Kashte struck with three wickets apiece.
DPC Sports Club lost to National Cricket Club by a massive margin of 167 runs. Yogesh Sawant’s seven wicket-haul went in vain as his team DPC Sports Club failed to chase down the total against National Cricket Club in the Purushottam Shield.

On April 10, Red Bull Lions beat Viking Sports Mgmt in Paradise Winter League. The Vikings Sports Mgmt won the toss and opted for bowling. The opening batter of Viking Sports Mgmt Karan and Vishal saklani (wk) gave a good start to the team but, Karan failed to establish a partnership with Vishal and got bowled by Vedang Mudgal on 7 runs.
Vishal Saklani made a fierce fifty for his team by scoring 56 runs out of 50 balls ( six fours) with a strike rate of 112. Kamal also helped him by scoring runs for his team (14 out of 12) but in front of fast bowler Vedang Mudgal he got caught-out and the catch was taken by Nagmani Singh.
Vishal Mudgal didn’t stop with his havoc bowling and he bowled-out Sanchit Kakkar. He got bowled-out at a mere score of 6 runs and 6 balls. Even though Vishal Saklani was fighting alone for his team, he also failed to stand tall in front of Rakesh and was caught-out by Vedang Mudgal. Ashok Chauhan, Gaurav Rajkumar, Kapil Uraswani, Milind, Rahul Sharma failed on a single-digit score. Prashant gave a good comeback to the team and scored 26 runs out of 11 with a strike rate of 236 but didn’t make it for much longer time and got caught-out – wicket taken by Vedang. Akash Singh made 18 runs off 17 balls.
The final score to chase down was 164 out of 150 balls.
Devrajan(30) and Rajnish (40) gave a very good start to the Red-Blue Lions by making a partnership of 70 runs out of 59 balls. Sanjeev (4) arrived on batting and got caught out by Prashant. Later on, Vedang(22) and Sidhant(11) gave a good comeback to the team by making a partnership of 33 runs out of 37 balls. Vedang got caught-out by Prashant bowl by Sanchit, Sidhant got caught out by Prashant bowl by nitesh. Ankur didn’t even score one run and got lbw by Sanchit.
Red blue lions needed a fierce batting and it was done by Abhishek Singh. He made 36 runs and gave his team an excellent win.
In a match between Ageas Fedral DVA and Dream 11 VCA Team A in the dream 11 cup under 19 D.V.A Tournament held at the Mahul Ground, Mumbai. Dream 11 team won the toss and elected to field and faced a defeat as Ayush Vartak from Ageas Fredral smashed 100 runs in just 64 balls with 17 fours and 1 six having a strike rate of 156.25!
Ayush was helped by another player Yaseen who scored 58 runs in 60 balls helping the team to put up a huge score of 226 runs in just 35 overs at the loss of 9 wickets. The highest run scorer in the opposite team was Harsh Aghav who
scored 96 runs, but unfortunately his contribution was not enough to get his team gain victory as bowler Anurag Divekar of Ageas Fredral took 3 wickets giving just 17 runs registering a commanding win over Dream 11 team.

Mumbai: A splendid bowling display by Prittam Shinde who picked up 5 wickets for 13 runs, including a hat-trick, was the highlight of Youth CC’s 31-run win against Hansoty Brothers CC in a Group-C section match of the MCA Dr. H.D. Kanga knockout cricket tournament 2022, and played at the National CC ground, Cross Maidan.
Youth CC sent into bat first were restricted to 172 all out in 31.3 overs. Nikhil Ajgaonkar was the lone batsmen to get a half century knock of 52 runs. Hansoty Brothers started well but were outsmarted by Shinde’s disciplined bowling and were bundled out for 141 runs in 41.1 overs and lost the match.
In an interesting and closely fought match, Dadar Cricket Club snatched a narrow 11-run victory against Mandvi Muslim Sports Club at the New Hind ground, Matunga.
Dadar CC preferring to bat first managed to finish their innings at 181 all out in 37.1 overs. Vinit Thakkar top-scored with 60 runs and Mandvi Muslims’ Kunjan Badgujar took 4 for 33 runs. The Dadar CC bowler picked up wickets at crucial junctures as Mandvi Muslim SC inning closed at 170 all out in 40.3 overs and succumbed to defeat.
In another match, Canara Vijay Cricket Club bolstered by the excellent bowling performances from Himanshu Kamdar 5 for 28 runs and Smit Dasadia 4 for 22 runs charged to a comfortable 91-run victory against Swatantra Cricket Club at the New Era CC ground, Azad Maidan.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Canara Vijay CC managed to reach 164 all out in 37 overs. Sumit Singh 36 runs and Ved Gaggar 32 runs ensured they reach a respectable total. Sagar Gupta 3 for 24 runs was Swatantra’s best bowler. Later, Kamdar and Dasadia combined effectively to reduce Swatantra CC to 73 all out in 22 overs and clinch a deserving win.

On April 15 and April 16, Sind Sports Club took on Fort Vijay Cricket Club at SRT (1) during the Purushottam Shield.Sind Sports Club won the toss and elected to bat first.
Riding on Aditya Dhumal’s delectable 83, Sind Sports Club posted a respectable score of 237 in 56.3 overs. Dhumal played some good looking shots and ran well between the wickets. Alongside him, Kirtiraj Wadekar made useful contributions with the bat as he chipped in with 31 runs. On the other hand, for Fort Vijay Cricket Club, Shubham Giri was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed 3-17.
In reply, Fort Vijay Cricket Club fought hard as they piled up 232 in 69.1 overs. In the end, they fell shy of just five runs as the match went all the way down the wire. Rupen Chaurasia (62 runs) and Aditya Giri (39 runs) led the run chase and almost managed to take their team home. However, Aditya Dhumal had other plans as he wreaked havoc with the ball scalping 5-77.
Aditya Dhumal was the top performer of the match, thanks to his match winning all-round performance. Dhumal’s 83 and five-wicket haul steered Sind Sports Club to a five-run win over Fort Vijay Cricket Club during the Purushottam Shield.
APL Season 1 was organized by a group of like minded lawyers to provide lawyers a different platform to express their love & passion for the game of Cricket. The Tournament was inaugrated by Hon’ble Justice Shri Sarang Kotwal and ex Ranji Player and Coach Mr. Amit Dani. APL tournament was played between 8 teams across Mumbai Thane and Pune in White Ball T20 Format. The tournament witnessed some amazing individual brilliant performances as well as some nail biting matches. More than that, the tournament also provided a platform for like minded lawyers across Mumbai to connect under one roof. The first season of Advocates Premier League was won by CMM Challengers Team while AAWI ended as the Runners Up in the tournament. The Fairplay award of the APL Tournament went to ACT Team while Pune FC were the third runners up.
This was for the 1st time a Cricket Tournament at such a grand scale was organized for Advocates and for the 1st time a tournament for Advocates had so many sponsors on board alongwith IPL Style Video Highlights through Cricketgraph App. The tournament was also grand offering many freebies and gifts to the participating teams and players.
