Varun Lavande opening the innings top scored with 72 runs off 42 balls smashing 9 fours and 3 sixes taking his team to a defendable total. Ajay Mishra with 3/14 in 4 overs was the pick of the lot.
Benetton CC in reply were cleaned up for 97 runs in 15.1 overs courtesy some tight bowling by Vijay Shirke bowlers. Union Cricket Club opting to bat first posted a gigantic total on board amassing 264 for 5 in 20 overs. Prayag registered the first and fastest ton of TPL Season 10 as he went on to score 116 off 48 balls smashing 10 fours and 9 sixes. All-Rounder Akash Parkar also played a smashing innings hitting 52* off 27 balls smashing 4 fours and 5 sixes.
Salgaonkar Sports Club in reply could manage 174/5 in 20 overs with medium pacer Pratik Warang being the pick of the lot with 3 wkts. From Salgaonkar CC, Paresh Ghanekar with 71* was the top scorer however they could not cross the victory line. On May 1, Bombay Gymkhana snatched victory from the jaws of defeat against Bhama Cricket Club during the Kanga Knock Out Tournament.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Bombay Gymkhana were bowled out for 111 in 36 overs. Moin Shaikh top scored with a brilliant 42 off 26 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes. Apart from Shaikh, there were no other major contributors with the bat forBombay Gymkhana. On the other hand, Bharat Solanki was the pick of the bowlers for Bhama Cricket Club as he bagged 4-14 in four overs, including three maidens.
In reply, Bhama Cricket Club fought hard as they scored 92 in 23.2 overs. Dhruv Chaudhary led the run chase with a 35-ball 31, including half a dozen boundaries. However, Bombay Gymkhana’s Wasim Ashraf had some other plans with the ball. Ashraf wreaked havoc with 6-28 in 7.2 overs as he rattled the opposition in a jiffy. Darshan Tiwari bowled well in tandem with Ashraf, picking up 3-11 in four overs.
Wasim Ashraf was the top performer in the match. Ashraf’s six wicket haul helped Bombay Gymkhana register a 19-run win over Bhama Cricket Club during Kanga Knock Out Tournament.
On May 4, Pidilite Sports Club and Indusind Bank clashed against each other at Cross Maidan in Mumbai during the Times Shield. Pidilite won the toss and elected to bat.
Batting first, Pidilite had a horrid day with the bat as they were bowled out for 85 in 18.5 overs. Indusind Bank’s opening bowler Manish Yadav wreaked havoc with the ball as she scalped 5-11 in four overs. Yadav bowled well with the new ball and rattled the opposition with his disciplined bowling effort. On the other hand, Rohan top scored for Pidilite with a 16-ball 18.
In reply, Indusind Bank cruised to the target in just 11.3 overs winning the match by six wickets. Opening batter Jay Gaba led the run chase with a 24-ball 29, including four boundaries. On the other hand, Pidilite’s Anthony was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed 2-23 in four overs.
Manish Yadav was the top performer in the match. Yadav’s five wicket haul helped Indusind Bank register a six wicket win over Pidilite in Times Shield.
On May 1, Jaico Cricket Club handed a crushing 10-wicket defeat to Errant Cricketers during the Kanga Knock Out Tournament in Mumbai.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Errant Cricketers were bundled out for 117 in 37 overs. Nikhil Karkera starred with a bat scoring a brilliant 56. However Karkera did not find any able allies who could bat with him and carry on with the innings. On the other hand, Jaico Cricket Club’s Majid Qureshi was the wrecker-in-chief as he scalped 4-15. Harikesh Yadav and Abhishek Yadav were the other wicket-takers as they claimed three apiece.
In reply, Jaico Cricket Club made light work of the run chase as they completed the formalities in 23 overs. The opening pair of Gaurav Dalvi and Rishikesh Puranik stitched a 118-run partnership to steer their side home. While Dalvi plundered an unbeaten 59, Puranik played the perfect second fiddle with an undefeated 43. On the other hand, Errant Cricketers had a tough outing with the ball as the bowlers went wicketless.

Chasing 109 looked like a mere formality as opener Hrushikesh who earlier grabbed 3 wkts also opened the innings to score a thrilling 83* off mere 34 balls to take the game away from the opposition. Golden Star CC won the match by 10 wkts and 12.2 overs to spare in what turned out to be an outright commanding win.
Invited to bat first, Bank of Baroda were bundled out for 170 in 31. 5 overs. Opening batter Neeraj Sharma was the lone warrior in the fight as he muscled a 72-ball 98. Sharma missed out on a well deserved century as Shiv Puri got the better of him. Puri and Vivek Tiwari were the wreckers-in-chief for Golden Eagle as the duo scalped four wickets apiece.
In reply, Golden Eagle made light work of the run chase as they completed the formalities in just 13. 4 overs. Vinayak Gupta, who opened the batting, led the run chase with an undefeated century. Gupta plundered a blistering 126 off 54 balls to power his team to a comprehensive win. This was his third consecutive century in the tournament. On the other hand, Bank of India’s bowling looked listless as they had no answers to the questions posed by Golden Eagle.

Mumbai: Kiran Khanvilkar’s superb bowling spell of 6 wickets for just 9 runs was the highlight of BEST Arts & Sports Club’s fighting 46-run victory over General Insurance Corporation (GIC) CC in the Plate Category semi-final match of the 10th Insurance Shield T20 Inter-Office Cricket Tournament, organised by Oriental Insurance Corporation under the aegis of MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) and played at the Air India ground, Kalina.
BEST after winning the toss elected to bat, but the batting was unable to dominate the GIC bowlers and they could only manage to score 106 runs for 9 wickets from their quota of 20 overs. Sunil Raut was the only batsman to stay long in the middle and make 31 runs, while GIC bowlers Anikit Goutam 4 for 17 and Anand Yadav 2 for 15 claimed most of the wickets.

Defending a low target, BEST rose to the challenge as they showed solid determination and Khanvilkar did the trick taking crucial wickets and with Kunal Misal (3 for 22) providing good support, they dismissed GIC for just 60 runs in 15.3 overs.
In the other semi-final, Shiva Yadav’s all-round abilities (2 wickets for 10 runs and unbeaten 41 runs) helped Larsen & Toubro charge to 8-wicket win against hosts Air India ‘B’ and to set up a clash with BEST in the final.
Air India chose to bat after winning the toss and managed to close their innings at 122 for 7 wickets from the stipulated 20 overs. Only Niketan Advirkar 30 runs was able to get some good runs to prop the Air India total. In response, Larsen & Toubro lost only two wickets in surpassing the rival total reaching 123 for 2 wickets in 16.4 overs. Yadav was unbeaten on 41 runs and keeping him company till the end was Sagar Kamble 30 not out.

Mumbai: An impressive bowling spell by Aarav Malhatora who claimed 6 wickets for 31 runs secured Vasai Centre a thumping victory against Nallasopara Centre by an innings and 12 runs on the second day of their first round match of the 25th Ajit Naik Memorial Under-14 selection trials cricket tournament 2022, organised by WSC under the aegis of the Mumbai Cricket Association and played at the Sainath Sports Club ground, Virar. Aarav who finished with 8 wickets was declared as the ‘Player of the Match’.
Nallasopara were bowled out for 147 in the first innings and in reply Vasai declared their first innings at 245 for 5 wickets after Kshitij Pal missed a century falling for 97 runs (141-balls, 14x4s, 1x6s) and to take a 98 runs lead. The Nallasopara batters fared miserably in the second, getting dismissed for 86 runs in 31.5 overs and losing the game.
Chinchani Centre strike bowler Aarush Thakur also had a fruitful day taking 7 wickets for 19 runs in the second innings to send Tarapur Centre crushing to a 238-run defeat. Aarush had claimed 2 wickets in the first innings and with a total of 9 wickets in the match was named ‘Player of the Tournament’.
Batting first, Chinchani Centre scored 338 for 9 wickets declared in 87 overs in the first innings and declared the second innings after scoring 134 runs for 3 wickets in 15 overs. Tarapur Centre boosted by captain Daiwik Save’s century 102 runs and Vedant Raut’s 45 runs managed to score 175 all out in 45.1 overs. In the second innings, the Tarapur batting collapsed as they folded for just 59 in 34.5 overs. Aarush and Vidhiraj Sukla 2 for 5 did the damage.
In another match, all-rounder Gajanan Narapgol played a key role with bat and ball to help Azad Maidan Centre inflict a comprehensive innings and 107 runs victory against Elf Oval Centre at the Elf ground Oval Maidan. Azad Maidan declared their first innings at 275 for 9 wickets in 81 overs with Gajanan scoring 58 runs.

Mumbai: Aayush Shinde was in sparkling batting form and scored a 205-ball double century, 208 runs, to steer Nerul Centre to a commanding 422 for 4 wickets in 82 overs against Chembur Centre on the first day of their 2-day match of the 25th Ajit Naik Memorial Under-14 selection trials cricket tournament 2022, organised by WSC under the aegis of the Mumbai Cricket Association and played at the SRT-2 ground, Kandivali on Monday.
The opening bat Aayush’s marathon innings was laced with 40 sweetly-times shots to the boundary ropes. Aayush’s teammates Aagneya Aadi 58 runs, Kanav Saini batting 42 runs, Varad Magar 41 runs, and Sudhan Sundarraj 36 runs made the Chembur bowlers toil. Shoaib Ansari 2 for 105 was the most successful Chembur bowler.
