Mumbai: Deadly bowling spells from Yuvraj Patil who finished with match-figures of 13 wickets for 34 runs (5/22 & 8/12) and Aarav Malhotra 7 wickets for 17 runs (5/9 & 2/8) and solid batting from Devansh Trivedi 158 not out and Swapnil Varma 84 not out, were significant contributions which helped Vasai Centre’s record an emphatic victory by innings and 180 runs against Tarapur Centre on the second day of their 2-day second round match of the 25th Ajit Naik Memorial Under-14 selection trials cricket tournament 2022, organised by WSC under the aegis of the Mumbai Cricket Association and played at the Sainath SC ground, Virar.

The Vasai youngsters showed brilliant skills and dominated the match from the start as they dismissed Tarapur for a low 49 runs in 26.4 overs in the first innings. Later, Vasai lost an early wicket of Yuvraj out for just 3 runs, but Devansh and Swapnil batted confidently to freely score runs and declared their first innings at 271 for one wicket in 60 overs. Yuvraj, who failed with the bat, destroyed the Tarapur batting which collapsed for just 42 runs in 26 overs.

The match played between Thane Centre and Badlapur Centre finhished in a draw at the Rainbow cricket ground, Badlapur. But, the Thane team won on the basis of having taken a massive first innings lead and enforcing the follow-on.

Thane Centre electing to bat amassed a huge total of 432 for 6 wickets in 86 overs. The big scores for Thane came from Marlesh Shinde scored 109 runs (136-balls, 22x4s), Smin Kini made 84 runs (120-balls, 14x4s), and Ameya More 67 (57-balls, 10x4s), while Jayesh Mhaskar took 3 wickets for 108 runs. Badlapur were bowled out 135 runs in 50.2 overs in the first innings. The top-score was Vansh Chumble 59 runs, while Aryan Vichare claimed 6 wickets for 56 runs. Following Badlapur made 65 for no loss in the remaining 10 overs before end of play. Aakash Mangde scored 45 runs.

Tarapur Centre 49 all out, 26.4 overs (Aarav Malhotra 5/9, Yuvraj Patil 5/22) & 42 all out, 26 overs (Yuvraj Patil 8/12) lost to Vasai Centre 271 for 1 wicket, 60 overs (Devansh Trivedi 158 not out, Swapnil Varma 84 not out). Result: Vasai won by an innings and 180 runs.

Mumbai: Dharamji Morarji CC showed tremendous determination and fighting spirit to snatch a tense and thrilling 5-run victory against Mumbai Police Gymkhana ‘B’ team to win the Elite Division title in the 10th Oriental Insurance Shield T20 Inter-Office Cricket Tournament, organised by Oriental Insurance Corporation under the aegis of MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) and played at the Mumbai Police Gymkhana ground, Marine Drive.

Sent in to bat first, Dharamji Morarji batsmen were kept under control by the Mumbai Police bowlers, who despite bowling well, did not get the support and were badly let down by the fielders as over half dozen catches were dropped. Dharamji Morarji took advantage of those lapses and managed to score 130 runs for 6 wickets from their quota of 20 overs. Ridya Khandke made 32 runs from 30 balls and Nisar Shaikh also contributed a 24-ball 32 runs. Rohit Bhere 2 for 11 and Aaryaraj Nikam 2 for 29 were the pick of the Mumbai Police bowlers.

Defending a modest total, Dharamji Morarji rose to the challenge and their bowlers, in particular medium pacer Raj Madhavan, who claimed 3 wickets for 13 runs. The bowlers received solid backing from the fielders who saved quite a number of runs in the deep and managed to restrict Mumbai Police to 125 for 6 wickets from the stipulated 20 overs. Opener Rohan Bhosale led Mumbai Police charge with a 38-ball 41 runs, but the other batters failed to stay long and score quick runs, which proved to be their downfall.

Later, Madhavan was named Man of the Match.

Mumbai: Saurish Deshpande’s brilliant all-round efforts was the highlight of Goregaon Centre’s massive innings and 58 runs victory against Elf Oval Centre on the second day of their 2-day second round match of the 25th Ajit Naik Memorial Under-14 selection trials cricket tournament 2022, organised by WSC under the aegis of the Mumbai Cricket Association and played at the Youth’s Own Union Ground, Cross Maidan.

The all-rounder Saurish grabbed five wickets in each innings and finished with match figures of 10 for 48 runs and he scored unbeaten 58 runs in Goregaon’s innings of 276 for 5 wickets declared in 43 overs. The others who contributed to Goregaon’s total was Tanish Shetty 78 runs, Arjun Lotlikar 36 runs, Ram Shandilya 34 runs, and Neel Koli 38 not out. Elf Oval batting first were dismissed for 85 runs in 33.3 overs in the first innings and scored 133 runs all out in 53.1 overs in the second. Saurish was declared ‘Player of the Match’.

In another match, Mahul Centre defeated Chembur Centre by 10 wickets. Chembur batting first, were bundled out for 145 runs in 57.5 overs in the first innings and for just 108 runs in 53.3 overs in the second essay. Mahul Centre declared their first innings at 214 for 4 wickets in 37 overs and easily chased the target making 40 for no loss in 4.5 overs. Mahul Centre’s bowler Shlok Kadav who claimed 8 wickets in the match was named ‘Player of the Match’.

Nerul Centre 419 for 8 wickets decl, 88.5 overs (Aagneya Aadi 142, Varad Magar 92, Aayush Shinde 49; Shaurya Rai 2/68) drew with Matunga Centre 236 for 8 wickets, 76 overs (Shrihann Haridass 56, Aayush Shete 71; Vedant Gore 2/83, Shaurya Gaikwad 2/48). Result: Match Drawn.

Nallasopara Centre 247 all out, in 69.6 overs drew with Chinchani Centre 245 all out, 95.5 overs (Nirbhay Keni 47, Janmay Patil 43, Daivik Bhoir 40, Priyansh Pawar 42; Atharva Keni 4/77). Result: Match Drawn (Nallasopara won on 1st innings lead).

Kalyan Centre 224 all out, 77.5 overs (Nishant Bhoir 62, Harsh Nadkar 45; Nimit Behere 3/53, Yuvraj Mali 3/31) & 127 for 3 wickets, 38 overs (Aditya V.S. 69) drew with Dombivali Centre 197 all out, 57.5 overs (Vedant Singh 30, Yuvraj Mali 53; Harsh Nadkar 4/46). Result: Match Drawn (Kalyan won on 1st innings lead).

 

On May 7, Piramal Healthcare took on Mettler Toledo at Azad Maidan in Mumbai during the Chanawala tournament. Piramal Healthcare won the toss and elected to bat first.

Riding on twin half centuries from Rahul Kulkarni and Girish Rasivate, Piramal Healthcare posted 4-199 in 20 overs. Kulkarni, who opened the batting with Vaibhav Bogate stitched a 113 run partnership in 12.4 overs. While Bogate muscled 48 runs off 40 balls, Kulkarni top scored with  55 runs off 39 balls, including 10 boundaries. Towards the end, Rasivate played a 17-ball cameo to smash an unbeaten 54 to help his side post a competitive score. On the other hand, Mettler Toledo’s Pratik Borge was the pick of the bowlers as he scalped 2-43 in four overs.

In reply, Mettler Toledo were bundled out for 110 in 17 overs as they fell short of 85 runs. Opening batter Anvit Gharat top scored with a 27-ball 31, however could not take his side home. On the other hand, Piramal Healthcare’s Rahul Kulkarni wreaked havoc with the ball as he bagged 6-28 in four overs. Kulkarni bowled well in the middle overs as well as at the death overs.

Piramal Healthcare’s Rahul Kulkarni was the top performer in the match. Kulkarni’s all-round contributions helped Piramal Healthcare register an 85-run win over Mettler Toledo in Chanawala Tournament.

 

 In the semi final match between SAI CA B and SAI SIA A in the KPCA U20 Tournament at Oval Ground, Mumbai , the former opted to bat first and scored 208 runs in 36 overs at the loss of 8 wickets by the contribution of Roneet Thakur’s 94 runs and Aadat Degaonkar’s 56 runs! Aryan Singh of SAI SIA A took 2 wickets in 4 overs giving 32 runs. As they came to bat, their team could manage to score only 175 runs at the loss of 10 wickets in 32 overs where the highest was scored by Rishi Shah  which was 48 runs in 54 balls. Both Parth Ankolekar and Roneet Thakur took 3 wickets each and restricted their opponents to lose!

Mumbai: Vasai Centre riding on the fine efforts of bowlers Aarav Malhotra (5 for 9) and Yuvraj Patil (5 for 22) and the solid knock by Devansh Trivedi who is batting on 143 runs is in a strong position to record an outright win against Tarapur Centre.

Vasai Centre electing to field first dismissed Tarapur for a measly 49 runs in 26.4 overs in their first innings with Aarav and Yuvraj doing the damage. Later, the Vasai batsmen batted freely as Devansh, and Swapnil Varma batting on 70 runs ensured they reach 241 for 1 wicket in 54 overs at stumps on the first day of their 2-day second round match of the 25th Ajit Naik Memorial Under-14 selection trials cricket tournament 2022, organised by WSC under the aegis of the Mumbai Cricket Association and played at the Sainath SC ground, Vasai on Thursday.

In another match, Aagneya Aadi’s dashing knock of 142 runs saw Nerul Centre well-placed at a healthy 390 for 6 wickets in 81 against Matunga Centre, at the SRT-1 ground, Kandivali. Aagneya’s huge effort from 111 balls contained 22 hits to the boundary ropes and one six and he received good support from Varad Magar 92 runs and Aayush Shinde 49 runs.

Marlesh Shinde’s century 109 runs ensured Thane Centre reach 363 for 6 wickets in 76 overs against Badlapur Centre, at the Rainbow cricket ground, Badlapur. Smin Kini contributed 84 runs while Balpreet Singh Saini and Samridh Bhat chipped in with 38 and 32 runs respectively.

In the match played between Raj Hans sports Academy And SP Group cricket Academy in the RSCA tri-series tournament played at RTO Azad Maidan, Mumbai, the former won the toss and elected to field first and restricted the Raj Hans sports Academy to 187 runs in 33.3 overs where Amod  and Neel scored 35 and 34 runs respectively. Ashutosh Mishra‘s 4  wicket haul helped the team to restrict their opponents to an easy  score! As the SP cricket group Academy came to bat, Ashutosh Mishra and Manish Laxman scored 63 and 60 runs for the team respectively leading to their win by scoring 188 runs in 34 overs add the loss of 7  wickets! Faiz took 2 wickets in 5  overs giving 33 runs.

It was fireworks all over the ground on 5th May at Dadaji Konddev Stadium in Thane as Eknath Shinde CC ‘A’ opting to bat first posted a massive total of 238 runs in 20 overs. Opener Jaideep Pardeshi ensured a brutal carnage decimitating the opposition bowlers with disdain! Jaideep went on to score 103 off mere 42 balls breaking Prayag Bhati’s record smashing 7 fours and 10 sixes. Apart from Jaideep, all-rounder Shams Mulani also played a handy cameo of 42 runs off 25 balls smashing 5 fours and 2 sixes.

Vijay Shirke Cricket Academy in reply managed a total of 188/9 in 20 overs with opener Om Keshkamat giving his best batting from start to end scoring 97* off 45 balls smashing 10 fours and 4 sixes. Jaideep who scored a century with the bat also bagged 2 wkts in the only over he bowled owning the day with his all-round performance.

Played at Dadaji Konddev Stadium in Thane, Golden Star Cricket Academy opting to bat first posted a total of 164/10 in 19.5 overs. Opener Pranav Yadav top scored with 59 runs while the rest of the batters found it difficult to get going. From the bowlers, Anjdeep Lad and Hemant Buchade with 2 wickets each were the pick of the lot.

SRS Group after being put to bat first at Dadaji Konddev Stadium in Thane posted a total of 164/6 in 20 overs. SRS Group who were struggling at one stage with scoreboard reading 32/4 got back into the game courtesy their experienced middle order. Nikhil Patil at no.5 scored a crucial half century smashing 67 off 50 balls smashing 7 fours and 3 sixes while Sujit Nayak (20*) and Gaurav Bengre (26*) chipped in with cameos.

Positive Leap Management in reply were all out for 109 runs in 19.4 overs with spinner Sanket Yashwante being the pick of the lot taking 3/15 in 2 overs. SRS Group won the match by 55 runs, Nikhil Patil declared ‘man of the match’, Gaurav Bengre declared ‘game changer of the match”
