Mumbai:Vaibhav Patil’s valuable innings of 75 runs and left-arm spinner Manindra Pratap Singh effective bowling 5 wickets for 26 were significant efforts, which helped Catholic Gymkhana register a 96-run win against Anushakti Nagar Sports & Recreation Club in a Group-D section match of the MCA Dr. H.D. Kanga knockout cricket tournament 2022, and played at the New Era ground, Azad Maidan.
Preferring to bat, Catholic Gymkhana was bowled out for 243 in 43.4 overs. Besides Patil’s knock, which lifted the total, Rajesh Geetakrishnan contributed 41 runs, while Anushakti’s Neelesh Yadav took 3 wickets for 45 runs. Chasing a modest target, Anushakti Nagar batsmen struggled and collapsed for 147 all out in 35.5 overs. Ganesh Patil top-scored with 41 runs while Manindra was responsible for claiming half the rival’s wickets and seal Catholic Gymkhana’s win.
In other matches, Sportsfield CC boosted by Atharva Surve’s unbeaten 50 runs managed to defeat Young Men CC by 3 wickets and Jolly Friends CC snatched a close win against Bengal Club, clinching victory by just 14 runs.
Sportsfield winning the toss and deciding to field did well to bowl out Young Men’s CC for a paltry 110 runs in 33.1 overs. Krishna Verma 4 for 14 runs was Sportsfield’s successful bowler. In reply, Sportsfield CC had their share of anxiety as Young Men’s Ratnadeep got 5 crucial wickets to give his team some hopes of a win. But the Sportsfield lower order batters were defiant and managed to reach 111 for 7 wickets in 35.1 overs with Atharva getting a half century to see his team through.

Jolly Friends CC choosing to bat first, struggled and scored only 144 runs all out in 36.2 overs. All-rounder Narendra Ambavkar 79 runs helped Jolly Friends reach a respectable total. Durvesh Patil claimed 3 wickets for 29. Defending a modest target, Jolly Friends were a determined lot and once against Ambavkar played a key role picking 3 wickets for 14 runs and got support from Sushil Rane 3 wickets for 29 runs, and Sandeep Shinde 3 wickets for 42 runs to dismiss Bengal Club 130 runs in 38.3 overs and secure a deserving win. Aniket Berde was the lone Bengal Club batsman who scored 31 runs.

Mumbai: Solid batting performances from Kshitij Pal unbeaten 155 runs (188-balls, 22x4s) and Advait Kandalkar 82 runs (78-balls, 10x4s) put Vasai Centre in a dominating position at 357 for 7 wickets in 86 overs against Chinchani Centre at stumps on the first day of their 2-day third round match of the 25th Ajit Naik Memorial Under-14 selection trials cricket tournament 2022, organised by WSC under the aegis of the Mumbai Cricket Association and played at the Our’s CC ground, Virar.
Chinchani bowlers got the initial breakthroughs, but they were unable to trouble Kshitij and Advait, who both batted freely scoring runs at a brisk pace. Priyansh Pawar (2 for 75), Aarush Thakur (2 for 71), and Nirbhay Keni (2 for 56) were the most successful bowlers.
Badlapur Centre’s Aakash Mangde and Vedant Gore of Nerul Centre also scored centuries. Aaksh made a 95-ball 102 runs in Badlapur Centre first innings score of 261 for 6 declared in 54.4 overs against Dombivali Centre. In response Dombivili Centre in their first innings were struggling at 47 for 4 wickets in 21.2 overs.

With every passing season, the corporate cricket team of Datamatics seems to be touching new heights under skipper Malang Aras. Adding one more feather to their cap, Datamatics for the 1st time in history have entered into the finals of an A Div MCA Tournament in the ongoing MCA Thane Vaibhav Tournament.
Datamatics opting to bat first were off to a decent start with openers Shashank Jadhav (28 runs) and Malang Aras (32 runs) providing a perfect momentum. Younster Nutan Goel who came at no.3 changed the game with his fabulous strokeplay as he went on to score 96* off just 50 balls smashing 7 fours and 8 sixes to take the team total to 196/7 in 20 overs. Akshay Majgaonkar at no.6 gave a DK’esque finish scoring a quick 25* off 9 balls.

Reliance Group in reply were all out for 179 runs with middle order batters Bhushan Mankar (34 runs) and Mayur Deolekar (79 runs) giving a tough fight. From the Datamatics bowlers, Nutan Goel with 3/15 in 4 overs was the pick of the lot owning the day with his all round contribution. Nehal Katakdhond also picked up 3 wkts for 44 runs in his spell of 4 overs. Datamatics won the match by 17 runs and Nutan Goel was declared ‘man of the match’
Eknath Shinde CC 1 opting to bat first at Dadaji Konddev Stadium in Thane batted well posting a healthy total of 191/5 in 20 overs. After losing both the openers early, it was no.3 bat Japjeet Randhawa changing the momentum with an impactful half century. Japjeet scored 50 off 29 balls smashing 5 fours and 2 sixes while also stitched a crucial partnership with Eknath Kerkar who scored 43 runs.
SR’s Group in reply were all out for 100 runs in 17.5 overs courtesy some disciplined bowling performance from Eknath Shinde bowlers. Experienced Pacer Royston Dias with 2/15 in 3 overs was helpful and so was all rounder Akhil Herwadkar who took 2 wkts for just 8 runs. Shashikant Kadam with 2/19 in 4 overs and Prasad Patil with 2/29 also contributed well with the ball.

Eknath Shinde CC “II’ after being put to bat first at Dadaji Konddev Stadium in Thane posted a total of 151/8 in 20 overs. After losing some quick wickets, it was left hander Arjun Shetty at no.4 who top scored with 43 off 41 balls smashing 4 boundaries. From the bowlers, Bhavin Darji and Dasrath Chavan with 2 wkts each were the pick of the lot taking 2 wickets each.
Ambernath Sport in reply were cleaned up for 114 runs in 17.5 overs courtesy some tight bowling by Eknath Shinde bowlers. Pacers Anjdeep Lad and Atul Singh made life difficult with their tight bowling spells as both the bowlers bagged 2wkts each while conceding less than 6runs per over.

Japjeet Randhawa and Eknath Kerkar at the middle order chipped in with 30’s while rest of the batters found it difficult to get going. Chasing 139, Eknath Shinde CC “B’ won the match in an commanding manner winning the match by 8wkts and 6 overs to spare. Opener Onkar Jadhav top scored with a match winning half century scoring 71* off 41 balls hitting 11 boundaries and a six. Onkar was well supported by no.3 bat Ashay Sardesai who scored 37 runs off 24 balls.

Mumbai: Opening batsman Mandar Patil’s played a responsible knock scoring 40 valuable runs which helped BEST Arts & Sports Club emerge champions winning the Plate Division title in the 10th Oriental Insurance Shield T20 Inter-Office Cricket Tournament, organised by Oriental Insurance Corporation under the aegis of MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) and played at the Mumbai Police Gymkhana ground, Marine Drive.
BEST held their nerves at the death and managed to defeat Larsen & Toubro by a 5-wicket margin in a well-contested and tense final.
Preferring to field first, BEST bowlers were a disciplined lot and kept the Larsen & Toubro batters under control and restricted them to 135 runs for 7 wickets from their 20 overs. All-rounder Shiva Yadav was the leading run-scorer with 34 runs from 29 balls, Jagdish Sorkhade scored a 27-ball 31 runs and Nishit Shriyan made a quick 27 runs, while Sukesh Gadekar claimed 2 wickets for 22 runs.
In reply, the BEST innings was boosted by opening batsman Patil’s patient batting effort of 40 runs from 45 balls, which was the perfect foundation for their win. BEST lost a couple wickets midway through their innings, but middle-order bat Ketan Dhatankar held the innings together by scoring an unbeaten 27 runs to steer them to victory. Jatin Sethi 2 for 25 was the lone successful Larsen & Toubro bowler.

Rugved More of Automotive Cricket Club had a prolific run in the recently concluded Insurance Shield. More bagged the best batsman and player of the series awards in the T20 tournament.
On April 19, More muscled 106 runs off just 54 balls against Bank of Maharashtra. He helped his team post 3-199 in 20 overs. His scintillating century powered Automotive Cricket Club to a 122-run win over Bank of Maharashtra.
Picking up from where he had left, on April 21, More played a 23-ball cameo to plunder an unbeaten 35. Coming in at number three, he smashed four boundaries in his innings against New India A.C. His quick fire knock bolstered Automotive Cricket Club to a competitive score of 3-167 in 20 overs.
After a couple of scintillating performances, More struck a delectable half-century on May 2. He scored 68 runs off 49 balls against Dharamsi Morarji Cricket Club. During his innings, he hit four boundaries and as many sixes. Despite his valiant effort, Automotive Cricket Club ended up on the losing side. They went down by nine runs after scoring 6-145 in 20 overs.
Automotive Cricket Club’s Rugved More had a stupendous outing in the Insurance Shield. The top order batter scored 209 runs in three matches. He hit one century, one half-century and remained unbeaten in one of the innings.
