Bhosle CA pip Samvedi Kalpavriksha CA by 35 runs in MD Memorial Cup

On January 3, Bhosle CA took on Samvedi Kalpavriksha CA during the MD Memorial Cup. Bhosle CA won the toss and elected to bat first.

Riding on skipper Devashish Ghodake’s brilliant half-century, Bhosle CA posted a challenging total of 144/3 in 20 overs. Ghodake and his opening partner Harshit Bobade put together 60 runs in 7.4 overs and laid a solid foundation. While Ghodake smashed 52 off 40, including nine boundaries, Bobade chipped in with 33 off 25, including six fours. On the other hand, Samvedi Kalpavriksha CA’s Prayag Vaidya was the pick of the bowlers with 38/2 in four overs.

In reply, Samvedi Kalpavriksha were bowled out for 109 in 17.4 overs and lost the match by 35 runs. Aaditya Kale led the run chase from the front with a 34-ball 25, but failed to see his side home. On the other hand, Bhosle CA’s Deeyan Gala and Aaradhya Pawar were the most successful bowlers with two scalps apiece. While Gala claimed 22/2 in four overs, Pawar accounted for 2/2 in 0.4 overs.

Cricket is a sport that Juili picked up right from her childhood days. Her journey from playing with the boys in the compound walls to practising under the able aegis of Jonty Rhodes has been a spectacular one.
She was a part of Mumbai Women’s U-19 and U-23 probables during her four-year stint at the MCA. As a middle order bat and a part time medium pace bowler, she also represented Mumbai University at All-India University Women’s Cricket for two years.

In the quest of further education, she discontinued with the sport. Currently she is pursuing her Ph.D in Finance from IIT Bombay’s School of Management.
