Atharva Adhikar’s all-round performance goes in vain as J.K.Sports Club lose in MCA Corporate Trophy ’22
On March 11, the Tata Power Co. Ltd. and J.K. Sports Club clashed against each other at Matunga Gymkhana during the MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) Corporate Trophy tournament. The Tata Power Co. Ltd. won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Riding on twin half-centuries from middle order bat Navnath Pawar (59 runs off 47 balls) and top order bat Atharva Adhikari (53 runs off 59 balls), J.K. Sports Club posted a fighting score of 226 in 38.5 overs. While Pawar hammered six boundaries and three sixes, Adhikari smashed five boundaries and two sixes. J.K. Sports Club were bowled out by the Tata Power Co. Ltd, thanks to right arm seamer Wilkin Mota, who wreaked havoc with the ball picking up 3-26 in 5.5 overs. Mota opened the bowling and bowled well with the new ball.
In reply, the Tata Power Co. Ltd. chased down the target with ease in 30.4 overs to win the match by four wickets. Opening batter Rohan Bane led the run chase from the front as he crafted a delectable 69 off 35 balls and received good support from Santosh Dighe and Uday Kolambe, who mustered 36 runs each. For J.K.Sports Club, the right arm off spinner Atharva Adhikari was the pick of the bowlers as he struck with 2-56 in eight overs. Adhikar’s all-round effort went in vain as his team J.K.Sports Club lost to the Tata Power Co. Ltd. by four wickets during the MCA Corporate Trophy.
