Ashish Fauzdar’s 49 ball 65 & a wkt helps Yes Bank win the Quarter-finals of the Dreamz Corporate T20 Tournament
It was the all important quarter-finals between two promising teams namely Yes Bank & Ernst and Young at the Sachivalay Ground, Oval Maidan in Mumbai. Yes Bank won the toss & elected to bat first in order to capitalize on the opportunity of batting first and score a decent target in the board. They also have a good bowling attack to defend the score hence they elected to bat first.
Batting first, Openers Kunal & Ashish gave a good start but Kunal was eventually out for 16. However, their right-hand handed skipper Ashish Fauzdar scored a superb 49 ball 65 (2 sixes) to help his team gain positive momentum. Ashish mixed composure with aggression & played a perfect captain’s knock on a big ground like Oval. Harshal coming at no.3 also chipped in scoring a 24 ball 28. Eventually, Yes Bank reached a total of 163/7 in 20 overs with Akshay Biyani being the pick of the bowlers with bowling figures of 2/24 followed by a wicket each for Vijay Shetty & Seshadhri.
Chasing 164, Ernst & Young almost won the match and fell short of mere 2 runs to win the match. It was definitely one of the closest and tight encounters of the tournament where both the teams gave their best & the winner was not predicted till the last ball of the game. Ernst managed to reach 161/9 in their 20 overs with their opener Abhishek scoring a 22 ball 36 followed by a great knock of 64 off just 35 balls by Anish. Anish almost made his team win the match but it was luck playing the role in the end. Medium pacer Kunal Negi bowled well & was the pick of the bowlers scalping 3/38 in his 4 overs followed by 2/23 by Vaibhav. Ashish Fauzdar who scored a brilliant 65 also took a wicket (1/22 in 3 overs) to make it a complete all-round performance.
Yes Bank won the match & skipper Ashish who led from the front was adjudged ‘man of the match’ for his all-round contribution. Cricketgraph congratulates Ashish & his whole team for their win & also wishes them to continue their good form to go on & win the tournament.
