Arnav Gupta: The Leggies Superb Outing In Mumbai Junior’s Tournament
Left arm spinner, Arnav Gupta had one of the best outings in the Mumbai Indians Junior Tournament. The inter-school tournament created a buzz since its first edition and is now a prestigious championship to win.
Representing Don Bosco High School Matunga, Arnav had an excellent time with the ball this season. Playing 7 games, the southpaw claimed 17 wickets. Apart from a game against IES New English School where he conceded runs at an economy rate of 4.17 and Anjuman Islam (7 runs per over), in no other game his economy passed more than 4 runs per over. His best figures being 4/5 in 3 overs with 2 maidens against SIES Matunga in the second round.
Gupta found a way out to claim at least one wicket in every game he bowled. Despite not taking 5 wickets, Gupta made substantial contributions for his team as his Don Bosco reached the finals of the tournament. In the finals, Gupta had a subpar time as he conceded 61 in just 8 overs with 1 wicket. The finals was the only day where Gupta’s fortune took a break, costing his team the championship.
Regardless of the result, Arnav Gupta helped Don Bosco bag the runners up spot with his skillful bowling prowess and seems to be turning out to be a future prospect for Mumbai Cricket.
