All-rounder Ajay Chauhan helps Royal Scott beat Sultan Sports to lift the Inter-Zonal T20 trophy at Delhi
Royal Scotts locked horns against Sultan Sports in the all important final match of the Inter-Zonal T20 Tournament organized by Delhi Cricket League in Delhi. Batting first, Royal Scott put up a decent batting performance scoring 135-9 in 20 overs. The target was not too steep but was enough to keep Sultan Sports in control. Puneet Yadav top scored with 46 runs and was well-supported by Ajay Chouhan (38) and Rahul (24). All the three players played some fantastic cricketing shots and helped their team to cross the crucial 120-run mark. Ovesh Saifi was simply brilliant with the ball as he grabbed 4-10 in his four overs. Ubed Khan and Brij Bhushan were the other bowlers among wickets, picking up two apiece.
Chasing 136 runs in a final can always be tricky. Sultan Sports played well but fell short of 20 runs as they were restricted at 115-9 in 20 overs. Had they calmed their nerves, the trophy would have been theirs. Vimal was at his very best as he scored 39 runs, but failed to capitalize. Nishant Singh was the pick of the bowlers as he finished off with 3-17 in four overs. After his batting heroics, Ajay Chouhan accounted for two wickets and so did Hitesh Kumar.
It was an emphatic victory for Royal Scott as they clinched the Inter-Zonal T20 Trophy organized by Delhi Cricket League. Ajay Chouhan was declared as the Man of the Match for his match winning all-round performance (38 runs and 2-19 in 4 overs). Some of the other awards that were announced were; Man of the Series Ovesh Saifi (4 matches, 12 wickets and 65 runs), Best Bowler Nishant Singh (5 matches, 9 wickets), Best Batsman Ajay Chauhan (5 matches, 125 runs), Best Wicket-Keeper Puneet Yadav (5 matches, 7 dismissals), Best Fielder Ubed Khan (4 matches, 2 amazing catches), Best Emerging Player Anil Sharma (6 wickets in 1 match), Best Fair play award Brij Bhushan and Best Six award Kartik Kain.
