Aakash Bharadwaj’s all-round show helps Kandivali Cricket Association win the match in the Govardhandas Shield Tournament
KCA (Kandivali Cricket Association) & Shantiben Seth Memorial Cricket Association(SMCA) faced each other for the 1st round match at Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana, Mumbai. KCA won the toss & seized the opportunity of batting first.
KCA batting line-up collapsed initially after a good start given by their openers Pranay Raut & Dinesh who scored 32(32) and 27(22) respectively. The next three batsman could not trouble much with their scores until their middle order batsman Akash Bharadwaj scored a gutsy 38* to steer his team to a respectable total of 155/8 in 20 overs. Right handed Aakash who came at no.6 scored 38* off just 27 balls & his contribution played a big role towards his team total.
Chasing 156 in 20 overs, KCA did some wonderful bowling to restrict SMCA to 144/8. Akash Bharadwaj was the pick of the bowlers too as he took 3/17 with his right arm off spin. Amit Patade who scored 42 was looking set but Akash took his wicket too to break their momentum & shift it in their favor. Out of the 3 wkts aakash took, 2 were clean bowled & that speaks a lot about his effectiveness with the ball.
KCA won the match against SMCA by 11 runs & Aakash was adjudged ‘man of the match’ for his all-round contribution. Cricketgraph also congratulates Akash & the whole team for their commendable win.
