Kela’s 161 and Katakdhond’s 62/7 steer New Hind to victory

New Hind Sporting Club took on Sainath Sports Club during the Young Comrade Shield. The match was played on December 17 and 18. New Hind Sporting Club won the toss and elected to bat.

Riding on Pranav Kela’s stellar batting performance, New Hind Sporting Club posted a daunting total of 357/6 in 70 overs. Kela hammered 161 and found able allies in Siddhant Adhatrao (48), Harshal Jadhav (39), and Karan Shah (38). On the other hand, Sainath Sports Club’s Vinayak Bhoir was the pick of the bowlers with 111/4.

In reply, Sainath Sports Club was bundled out for 270 in 54.4 overs, and they lost the game by 87 runs. Umesh Gurjar (87) and Sachin Solanki (55) struck delightful half-centuries but failed to see their side home. Yash Chavan also chipped in with 44. For New Hind Sporting Club, Nehal Katakdhond wreaked havoc with the ball, claiming 62/7.

Cricket is a sport that Juili picked up right from her childhood days. Her journey from playing with the boys in the compound walls to practising under the able aegis of Jonty Rhodes has been a spectacular one.
She was a part of Mumbai Women’s U-19 and U-23 probables during her four-year stint at the MCA. As a middle order bat and a part time medium pace bowler, she also represented Mumbai University at All-India University Women’s Cricket for two years.

In the quest of further education, she discontinued with the sport. Currently she is pursuing her Ph.D in Finance from IIT Bombay’s School of Management.
