The ever dependable Subramaniam D(104*) and in form Sarvesh(97) come to the rescue as DY Patil ‘B’ looks good to lift the Times Shield ‘A’ Div Trophy’ 18
When you talk about Subramaniam- he falls into the league of classy players like Dravid, Rahane and Laxman which has become a rarity nowadays. He is safe like a tank and has always delivered consistently for DY Patil making him one of the ‘must have’ players in the side.
It was the finals today between DY Patil A vs DY Patil B at the DY Patil Ground in Nerul where in DY Patil ‘A’ won the toss and elected to bowl first. With some shuffles in the batting line up, the rock solid Subramaniam was shifted at the middle order while Kevin was again given the duty to open the innings with Shashank on the insistence of their senior statesmen Pravin Tambe. Opening the innings, DY Patil ‘B’ did suffered some early jolts with both the openers out early but Sarvesh Damle and Subramaniam Doraswamy rescued their team by scoring magnificently.
Subbu as he is fondly called spoke with Cricketgraph when asked why was he shifted down the order- “He said Pravin for the team wanted me to come down lending stability” and it did work as Subramaniam scored a match saving 103* at no.7 facing 158 deliveries and smashing 9fours and a six in it. Subramaniam almost batted like Laxman at the middle order while Sarvesh who has been in good nick fell just 3runs short of a classy ton scoring 97 off 142balls(12fours, 1six) propelling the team total to a very healthy 404/10 in 113.3 overs. From the bowlers Pradeep Dadhe bowled an impressive spell of 4/41 in 14 overs managing to trouble the DY Patil batsman with his tight line and length. The bowlers did look dangerous at one point but Sarvesh and Subramaniam saved the ship. What’s more Pravin Tambe also gave a brilliant support by scoring 48 and stitching a 97run stand for the 9th wicket which also played a pivotal role.
DY Patil A on the other hand are looking troubled with 7 down for 191runs with Naushad Shaikh scoring a fighting 68 while Iqbal Abdullah and Swapnil Singh at the crease. All-rounder Arun Yadav has again been impressive with 4wkts while Pravin Tambe bagging 2wkts so far.
DY Patil A needs to fight back hard as DY Patil B looks promising enough to lift the title tomorrow!
