Ayush Zimare’s 81* helps Mumbai clinch a victory against Maharashtra in the Under-14 West Zone League
It was a competition between two strong sides and a healthy encounter was bound to happen in Rajkot (where the match took place). Mumbai who has a strong batting line up elected to bat first after winning the toss so that they can capitalize on the situation & post a good score on the board.
While the openers Shubham & Bhargav scored 0 & 1 respectively with Mumbai feeling the early jitters it was their talented Musheer Khan who again came to the rescue & scored a wonderful 75 off just 122 balls followed by their star batsman Suryansh Shedge scoring once again an aggressive 42 ball 54. However, it was their no.7 batsman Ayush Zimare who was the pick of the batsman scoring a brilliant 81* off 149 balls. Ayush anchored the innings coming down the order and took his team total to 312/9 in 90 overs. Mumbai definitely managed to cross the 300 run mark because of some great batting displayed by Ayush. Zimare who came in at no.7 displayed rock solid resilience at the crease and he smashed 10 classy boundaries in his knock.
Maharashtra in reply scored 165 and 96 runs and they were not able to cross the 1st innings trail of 312 runs. It was great bowling by the Mumbai bowlers who restricted Maharashtra to low scores in both the innings. Ayush Zimare who scored 81 with the bat also took 6 wickets with his left arm spin was rightly adjudged ‘player of the match’ for his all-round brilliance.
Mumbai who won the match by an innings & 51 runs will certainly move ahead In the tournament with a lot of confidence for sure.
