200 off 67balls: Rudra Dhandey scores the fastest and also the only double centurion in T20 format so far in the game of Cricket!
First of all while reading don’t get shocked by reading the stats on what is about to come because this enigmatic opener has just completely slayed the opposition team & has won the hearts of many around the world when he scored a double century in a T20 game recently. Yes Rudra Dhandey on 11.03.17 became the first cricketer in any format combined in the game of cricket to score a double century in a T20 game.
It was a game between P Dalmia & Rizvi College of Abiz Rizvi Champions Trophy at Matunga Gymkhana Ground where history got created. Rizvi College on a good track like Matunga elected to bat first & in came opener Rudra who was in a different zone altogether. Rizvi College made a gigantic score of 322/2 in 20 overs which is sometimes not chaseable even in a 50 over game. The man of the moment was rizvi’s right-handed opener Rudra Dhandey who scored 200 off mere 67 balls. Rudra’s 1st hundred came off 39balls while to everyone’s surprise he technically also scored the fastest hundred in the world too as his 2nd hundred came off mere 28balls. Playing at a strike rate off above 300, Rudra smashed 21fours & as many as 15 big sixes in his stroke-laden knock. Rudra must have dented the bowler’s confidence a lot & we are sure every bowler affected will need some time to make a comeback again as he did not spare any of the bowlers while caressing runs in every corner of the ground. Becoming the 1st double centurion in a T20 format surpassing Gayle’s 175, the 19 year old Rudra straight away dedicated the knock to his parents. In-form Aakarshit Gomel also played a fine knock scoring 63 off just 26balls which included 4fours & 6sixes.
Chasing 323 at 16runs per over is almost not possible. Sometimes when 15-20 runs are left in the last one over and you win is a different thing but scoring 15-20 runs in every over of the game is almost an impossible task full of pressure. P Dalmia were all out for just 75/10 in 10.2 overs where Kunal Gavand took 3wkts followed by 2wkts each for Abul Kalam & Vikas Singh. Rizvi College won the match by one of the biggest margins in a T20 game by 247runs & Rudra Dhandey for obvious reasons was declared ‘man of the match’ for his magnificent knock.
We at Cricketgraph feel proud to see such talents existing in india & it just proves everyday that India has a huge stock of cricketing blood in the veins of aspiring youngsters like Rudra. Cricketgraph also congratulates Rizvi team for their big win & wishes luck to all the players for a promising future ahead.
