Be it at local or international level, every team desires to have their own Symonds or Afridi in the middle order who can chip in with the bat as well as with the ball. Such players are a big asset for any side & one such performance was displayed by Sajid Shaikh from Arbuda who took 5/29 & 19*(14) in the crucial knock-outs for his team.

Winning the toss, VIVA Supermarkets elected to bat first as the wicket was good to bat on. VIVA batman managed to reach 171/10 in 38 overs & it was some tight bowling by Arbuda bowlers which made it possible. Umesh Gurjar was the leading scorer at no.3 where he scored a solid 67 off just 77 balls. Akshay Mhapankar also batted well & remained unbeaten on 40* off 49 balls. The bowler who acted as a major dent for VIVA Supermarkets was Sajid Shaikh who came up with amazing bowling figures of 5/29 in 9 overs. The right arm spinner did an excellent job and took wickets at the right time which restricted VIVA to a low total. Aniket Khadpe also bowled well as he took 3/30 in his 9 overs.

Chasing 172, Team Arbuda won the knock-outs and completed the chase in 44.2 overs with the loss of 7 wkts. It wasn’t a good start by their top order batsman but a solid partnership between Imran Khan (42*) & Vishweshwar Singh (38) at the lower middle order helped them seal a victory.  Sajid Shaikh remained unbeaten on 19* off just 14 balls as Arbuda won the knock-outs by 3 wkts.

Right-arm medium pace bowler Vijendra Chaurasia bowled a tight spell which helped his team sail through a victory against Hindustan Unilever in the ongoing Dreamz Corporate T20 Tournament.

Winning the toss, Hindustan Unilever elected to field first & restrict the opposition to a low total. However, it was a decent batting performance by Credit Agricole players as they managed to reach 151/8 in 20 overs. Opener Prathamesh Nerkar played a fine knock of 41 at the top of the order & so did their skipper Rahul Mishra who scored a quick 37. The rest of the batsman did not manage to trouble much or else they could have reached a score bigger than 151 in 20 overs. Sujay’s bowling performance from Hindustan Unilever was also noteworthy as he bagged 4/28 in 4 overs.

Chasing 152, Hindustan Unilever were restricted to 148/7 in 20 overs & it was some wonderful bowling which made it possible. Medium pacer Vijender Chaurasia reminded us of Shaun Pollock the way he was bowling as he scalped important wickets at crucial moments coming up with bowling figures of 4/24 in 4 overs. Skipper Rahul Mishra also bagged 2wkts for 21 runs with his spin bowling & made it a complete all-round perfomance.

It was a match which remained exciting till the end where both the teams gave their best. Credit Agricole eventually won the match by 4runs & Vijender Chaurasia was declared ‘man of the match’ for his good bowling performance. Cricketgraph congratulates Rahul & Vijender as well as their whole team & wishes that their good form continues till the end of the tournament.

It was a match which witnessed great performances from two individual players. Though KC Gandhi as a team was outright dominating but when it comes to individual performances one player from both the teams impressed us with their brilliant performances. While Ayush Mogal took 7 wkts for Sri Ma Vidyalaya it was Akash Singh who scored a magnificent hundred for KC Gandhi.

Winning the toss, Sri Maa Vidyalaya was all out for just 92 runs. The decision to bat first did not go in their favor as it was surely not the 1st innings score which they would have expected to make. Rugved Amre was the only batsman who looked confident for his stay at the crease as he smashed a 55 ball 30 for his team. Aakash Singh took 3/25 which was quite commendable & so did Sarvesh Mahajan who took 3/30 in 9 overs.

Aakash Singh (KC Gandhi School Team) 158 runs in 156 balls 21 fours and 4 wkts

Then came the turn of KC Gandhi to bat and they did their job exceptionally well. It wasn’t the best of the starts from the top 3 but Akash Singh at no.4 smashed a big hundred playing at almost run a ball. Right-handed Akash Singh scored 158 off just 156 balls which included 22 fours to steer his team to a big total of 305 in 71.4 overs. Slow-left arm bowler Ayush Mogal was the star bowler & lone wolf as he alone scalped 7/85 in 23.4 overs. Left-arm spin bowling is itself a tough art & Ayush defied all the odds to provide an exceptional performance. Had he got little support from the other end, the opposition could have been restricted to a low total.

Aayush Mogal (Sri Ma Vidyalay Team) 7 wkts
Ayush Mogal (Sri Ma Vidyalay Team) 7 wkts

Sri Maa Vidyalaya in the 2nd innings were again all out for 127 runs & lost the match by 86 runs.

It was a great performance by Smt. KC Gandhi boys & they rightly deserved to be the winners. Aakash Singh & Ayush Bogal were the standout performers & quite a revelation in the match. Appreciation should also reach their coach Mahendra Kadam who works hard on his boys to make them perform well on the field. The same team had also won the tournament last year.

A match is fun to watch & exciting enough to play only when players from both the teams give their best to each other & end up in a great level of competition. One such match was the finals between DY Patil & Fort Vijay club of the Young Comrade Shield Tournament at MIG Cricket Ground, Mumbai.

Rahul Lad (Fort Vijay Cricket Club Team) 98 runs in 140 balls
Rahul Lad (Fort Vijay Cricket Club Team) 98 runs in 140 balls

Fort Vijay who have an equally strong batting line up elected to bat first after winning the toss. Fort Vijay scored 307/10 in the 1st innings which was surely a defendable 1st innings score. Rahul Lad was the pick of the batsman falling just 2 runs short of a wonderful century. Rahul was looking extremely confident & poised at the crease and deserved a century but it was a good knock none the less. Unfortunately Rahul was run-out when he was trying to snatch a second run a bit slowly. Karan Nandey & Sanket Bhaye also chipped in with 43 & 36 respectively. All-rounder Shivam Dube was the leading bowler for DY Patil as he scalped 4/56 to trouble the batsman.

In reply, D.Y Patil scored 315/2 & won the ‘match by an innings’. Right-handed Shoaib Shaikh regained form in the finals as he scored a sublime 127 ( 210 balls) at the top of the order. Subramaniam D also scored a fantastic 91(194) & also stitched a great partnership with Shoaib. Aggressive Shivam Dube at no.4 scored a very quick 61 too coming off just 35 balls.

Shubham Dubey (DY Patil Team) Not out 61 runs in 35 balls 4 fours and 5 sixes and took 4 wkts

It was a commendable performance and a great win for D.Y Patil cricketers. Cricketgraph congratulates both the teams for giving a great final and wishes them all the luck for a bright future ahead.

The right arm leggie bowled good lines and lengths making it difficult for the batsmen to score freely off him. The panel of judges had a tough decision to make as the other two contenders; K Rafid of MSCI and Akshay of CGI, both accounting for four scalps, were fighting hard for the Kimati Corporate Bowler of the Week Award.

Amar Bhuta is known to fire at the right time & what a better time than the finals for him to fire again. Amar Bhuta who is considered to be one of the most ferocious batsman and one of the genuine hard hitters in the KSG circles once again showed his mettle with the bat as he scored a 27 ball 50 against KSG Warriors in the all-important finals at the Payyade Ground, Kandivali, Mumbai.

Winning the toss, KSG Warriors elected to field first & their decision to field proved to be almost correct as KSG Strikers had lost 5 top order wickets in the 1st half within just 30 runs. However, right-handed Amar Bhuta came in & changed the whole script of the game in his team’s favor as he smashed 2 fours & 3 sixes in his brutal 27 ball 50 to steer his team to a respectable total of 150/11 in 20 overs. Sitanshu Parekh’s bowling was noteworthy & not to be neglected as he bowled a tight spell of 4/15 in 4 overs.

KSG Warriors succeeded in restricting them to 150 but did not manage to bat well as much as they did with the ball. KSG Warriors managed to reach 145/6 falling short of just 6 runs to clinch a victory. The bowlers did a good job & succeeded in containing the batsman. Ashish Vora (2/14) & Jitesh Parekh (2/15) were the pick of the bowlers for Strikers.

It was a Glenn Maxwell type Show at the Aarey Bhaskar Ground when SKN Sports Club & Raheja Sports Club faced each other for the league match. Winning the toss, SKN had their solid opener Deep Karandikar at the top who remained unbeaten till the end scoring 54*off 54 balls.

As Deep shared with Cricketgraph ‘he likes to build the innings rather than hitting every ball for a boundary’. The wickets tumbled from the other end and things were looking difficult for SKN Sports Club at one point when they were 5 down under100 runs. However, came in at no.7 was their aggressive batsman Pranav korgaonkar who smashed a blazing 81* off just 25 balls on a damp wicket. Pranav was outright dominating the bowlers & he was really connecting the ball nicely which was a treat to watch. A 25ball entertainment by Pranav which included as many as 7 big sixes led their team to a healthy total of 195/5 in 20 overs.

Chasing 196 in 20 overs, it was a tough fight given by Raheja Sports Club as they lost the match by just 8 runs. Opener Vikas Chandak played a fine knock of 72 coming off just 46 balls (10 fours,4 sixes) & so did their no.3 batsman Ravishankar B who scored 56 off just 35 balls (6 fours,2 sixes). The partnership did gave some jitters to SKNSC but eventually the rest of the batting line-up crumbled below them & could not chase the score successfully.

SKN Sports club won the match by 8 runs & Pranav Korgaonkar was adjudged ‘man of the match’ for his destructive batting down the order.

Vighnesh Sports Academy (VSA) & Boys Cricket Academy (BCA) faced each other for an important Quarter-final encounter at Santosh Sports Academy Ground in Kalyan Thane. Vighnesh Cricket Academy won the toss & elected to bat first as the wicket was supportive for the batsman.

Batting first, it wasn’t the best day in the office for team VSA as they lost quick wickets within the first 6 overs. The openers and the top order could not make much of a difference to the scorecard & eventually they were all out for just 96/10 in 16.3 overs. Shivam kumar at no.4 was the only leading scorer who scored a quick 16 ball 30 for team VSA. The bowler who won the hearts for Boys Cricket Club was surely Atharva Datar as he completely bamboozled the batsman with his right-arm leg spin & turned out to be quite a revelation for his side. Atharva Datar bowled a mesmerizing spell of 7/29 in 4 overs & acted as the chief destroyer of VSA’s batting line up. What’e more Atharva was so potent & effective with the ball he also took a hat-trick in the match.

Chasing a score of 97 in quarter-finals is surely not the toughest of tasks as BCA finished up the chase in just 11.4 overs without the loss of any wickets. Openers Aditya Rawat & Shantanu finished up the chase remaining unbeaten on 32* & 29 * respectively.

Boys Cricket Academy won the match comfortably & thanks to Atharva’s splendid performance with the ball who was proving to be a mystery spinner like Ajantha Mendis for Vighnesh Sports Academy. Looking at his current form Team BCA will be pleased to have Atharva in their arsenal for the semi-finals & finals.

Parmar bowled a dream spell, scalping 7-19 in seven overs at an economy rate of just 2.72. The left arm spinner bowled good lines and lengths making it difficult for the batsmen to score freely off him. He was the wrecker-in-chief as he ran through the opposition’s batting line-up in no time.

The panel of judges had a tough decision to make as the other two contenders; Sagar Khatri of Kotak and Prabhat of Cleartrip, both accounting for four scalps, were fighting hard for the Kimati Corporate Bowler of the Week Award.

After both the teams giving promising performance in their respective semi- finals, Central Railway & Shinrai Toyota faced each other for the all important finals at the RCF Ground, Chembur, Mumbai. Central Railways elected to bat first after winning the toss to put Toyota under pressure.

Central Railways did not live up to their own expectations as they managed to score only 133/9 in 20 overs. The only shining grace in their batting line up was Pravin Deshetti who scored a solid 46 off just 44 balls at the top of the order. Opening the innings, Pravin looked confident against the bowlers. Once again the trio of left-arm spinners did the job with Jayshal Wadiyal being the pick of the bowlers taking 3/28 to reduce them to a low total. Left-arm spinner Manish Bhogale also bowled well taking 2/2 followed by 2/18 by Rakesh Yadav. Jayshal continued his good form from the semi-finals where he had taken crucial wickets & again performed when it was needed.

Chasing 134, Central Railways gave a tough fight and it was worth the match to watch for as Toyota won the match but not before they lost 7 wkts & just 2 balls to spare. The match remained exciting till the last ball & it held our nerves till the end. Opener Dinesh Pawar once again gave a confident start at the top of the innings scoring 27 followed by 26 & 21 for Manish & Sajid Khan.

Team Shinrai Toyota won the tournament & Dinesh Pawar from Shinrai Toyota was adjudged ‘man of the match’ and ‘Best Fielder of the tournament’ for his brilliant batting and fielding, while Amit Ponikar from Central Railway’s team was adjudged the best batsman & left arm spinner Jayshal Wadiyal from Shinrai Toyota Team (10 wkts) awarded the best bowler of the tournament and Manish Bhogale from Shinrai Toyota Team awarded Man of the Series in the Tournament.

Shinrai Toyota won the finals by 3 wkts & lifted the prestigious Babasaheb Ambedkar Trophy from former India Cricketer Pravin Amre. Cricketgraph congratulates Shinrai Toyota for their series win & wishes them all the luck for a great future ahead.
