Automotive Corporate cricket cap leaders campaign garnered tremendous nominations from cricketers playing across multiple tournaments in the month of November. There was a cut throat competition among the corporate cricketers and finally only 3 emerged victorious.
Automotive Corporate Cricket Cap Leaders for the month of November were announced recently, with Varun Madnani winning the Orange Cap and Manish Jathar bagging the Purple Cap for their scintillating performances with bat and ball respectively. Nitin Poojary was bestowed with the Most Popular Cricketer award, with 372 votes.
Manish Jathar from Zuventus scalped as many as nine wickets in just two matches. During the Dreamz Corporate Trophy 2018-19, the slow left arm orthodox bowler had the best bowling figures of 6-23 in his four over spell against Wipro on November 3. In the other match, Jathar picked up 3-23 in 3.3. overs against Sony in the same tournament, which was played on November 17. Manish was brilliant with the ball. He consistently hit the right areas and reaped sweet fruits of his hard work. Jathar was deservingly awarded with the Purple Cap in the Automotive Corporate Cricket Cap Leaders category.
With the bat, it was Rising Phoenix’s Varun Madnani who gave the bowlers a run for their money with his swashbuckling performance. The southpaw scored as many as 156 runs in two matches during the Jolly Friends United League. Varun had the best score of 98 runs in just 58 balls against VPS, and the innings was laced with 12 boundaries and half a dozen sixes. The left-hand batsman enjoyed his two match stint as he had eye popping performances in both the matches. He was sweetly timing the ball and peppered the boundary rope on a regular basis. Varun Madnani won the Orange Cap for his rollicking performance with the bat on November 3 and 17.
In addition to these, Nitin Poojary From Sony Team bagged the Yellow Cap for being adjudged as the Most Popular Cricketer of the month with 372 votes. Hailing from Sony Team, he grabbed 8 wickets.
All these winners will soon be awarded with mini-IPL type caps, certificates & Automotive vouchers worth Rs.2500/- which can be availed within the wide network of Automotive Maruti service centers. The Top 10 winners in each category too will be awarded with Automotive e-vouchers worth Rs.1000/-. Automotive has service centers in Kurla, Dombivali, Nerul & Panvel.
On the back of fifties by Omkar (60) and Amol Torvi (52), ESWA reached a total of 218/9 in 40 overs. However, the chase did not last for too long as Gaurang Namjoshi and Chetan Naik thrashed the bowlers with pure domination. Both the players were in T20 mode as Gaurang smashed a brutal 39 ball 86 while Chetan Naik scored an equally aggressive 51 ball 85 as SKN team won the match by 7wkts.
Gaurang Namjoshi and Chetan Naik adjudicated joint Man of the match for their quick fire knocks.

Dena Bank after being made to bat first at MIG Cricket Club were all for 253 runs in their 1st innings. Gaurav Jathar (75) and Nilesh Masurkar (52) smashed half centuries while the rest of the batsman struggled. Skipper Sahil Madgaonkar was the pick of the bowler taking 4/58 in 24 overs with his right arm medium pace.


Nanavati in reply notched up a big 1st innings total of 383 runs where in Pranav Kela at no.3 scored a brilliant 119 off 260 balls. Pranav displayed really solid batting while all-rounder Bhushan Shinde at no 5 scored an aggressive 69 ball 83 staying true to his attacking batting. Ashutosh Ghagre who came at no.8 demolished the bowlers with his 39 ball 76*. A short cameo which had 5 sixes and 7 fours much to the entertainment of his team mates.

Nanavati team won the match on 1st innings lead and it was surely on the back of their aggressive batting.
Two big teams clashing for the finals place in the Purshottam Shield, yes it was Cricket Club of India and DY Patil team taking on each other on DY’s homeground at Nerul.
After being rightly made to bat first, CCI suffered a top order collapse as they were eventually all out for 180 runs in 51.1 overs. DY Patil bowlers did an amazing job with their 5 bowlers chipping in with 2 wkts each.

Chasing a total of 184 was a mere formality for the DY Patil batsman as Kaustub Pawar who ahd recently scored a hundred in Times Shield continued his sparkling touch scoring a sublime 72*opening the innings off 78 balls (10 fours). Siddarth Chitnis who came at no.4 finished off the things smashing a quick 54 along with a 96 run stand with KP as DY Patil won the semi-finals in style by 7 wkts chasing the total in mere 28 overs.
During the Zooter International School Dad’s Tournament, OIS Blasters opted to bat first against AIS Spark on Sunday at RCF Sports Club, Chembur, Mumbai. Opening batsman Mayank Agarwal (45 off 45) and middle order batsman Rishi Pilani (42 not out off 33) steered OIS Blasters to a competitive target of 155-3 in 20 overs. Agarwal provided just the right start to OIS, and he looked in good touch, as he middle the ball well and ran nicely between the wickets.One of the interesting things about OIS’s innings was that there was no a single six hit by the batsmen. A total of 11 boundaries were struck, and it shows that OIS did not play any risky shots, rather they preferred to run well between wickets and play their strokes all around the ground. On the other side, not consuming a single six is indeed a great achievement by AIS bowlers. Rajesh Saluja accounted for 2-18 in his three overs and received good support from Niraj Bajaj who grabbed 1-22 in his four overs.
In reply, AIS Spark fell short of 31 runs as OIS Blasters restricted them to 124-8 in 20 overs. AIS did not get off to the best of the starts as they lost their top three batsmen cheaply. AIS was struggling at 3-10 in 2.2 overs, but then Niraj Bajaj (23 off 16) and Aaza Khan (44 off 60) put their heads down and stitched a solid partnership of 55 runs for the fourth wicket. However after the fall of Bajaj and Khan, it was just a matter of time, as the rest of the batsmen fell prey to OIS’s disciplined bowling. Vinod Lund was the wrecker-in-chief as he scalped 3-39 in his four overs. The right arm medium pace bowler bowled quick and in good areas to reap sweet fruits of his hard work. “The wicket was a bit slow. But our bowlers stuck to the job assigned to them. I am happy to have carried from where I had left in the previous match and really glad to strike with a three wicket haul yet again today”, elucidated Vinod.
For his solid batting performance right at the top of the order, Mayank Agarwal was bestowed with the Man of the Match award.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Indusind Bank posted a huge target of 200-6 in 20 overs on Sunday against Yes Bank during the Automotive Cricket League T20. Riding on a magnificent batting performance by no.3 bat Sagar Ghadigaonkar (82 off 47), Indusind Bank could put a challenging score on board. Ghadigaokar looked flawless with the bat as he peppered the boundary rope with 13 boundaries and a six, scoring at a brisk strike rate of 174.47. Giving him company were Gaurav Dhuri (43 off 28) and Milind Bholanekar (31 off 24). Both these batsmen kept pace with the momentum started by Sagar. For Yes Bank, it was Roshan Pujari who made a solid impression with the ball as he went on to pick 3-23 in his three overs.
With the bat, Yes Bank put up a very dismal show as Indusind restricted them to a meager 84-8 in 20 overs, thus falling short of 116 runs. First with the ball and then with the bat, Roshan Pujari was the only silver lining for Yes Bank as he top scored with 21 off 31. On the other side, it was Sagar Ghadigaonkar again who could not kept out of the game, as he surprised everyone with his phenomenal bowling. The right arm off spinner picked up 4-4 in his four overs and deservingly awarded as the Man of the Match. Opening the bowling for his team, Ghadigaonkar made sure that he bowled tight lines and lengths and did not allow the batsmen to get away with him. He yielded rich dividends, courtesy his consistency with the ball right through his four over spell.
The ecstatic Sagar Ghadigaonkar expressed, “It was a must win game for us and all of us were determined to give our best to have a final go for qualifying from the league stage. The wicket was good to bat on and I enjoyed facing the medium pacers as the ball was coming on the bat easily. I am happy that I could contribute with the ball as well. My favourite victim was Nilesh, which was my first wicket. At mid off Guddu Shah held on to a stunner and helped us to get the early break through”.

The Zooter International School Dad’s Tournament witnessed an exciting contest on Sunday when JNS Jaguars and JNS Young Veterans locked horns against each other at RCF Sports Club, Chembur, Mumbai. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, JNS Young Veterans managed to put up 135-8 in 20 overs, courtesy opening bat Aneesh Vijekar’s delightful half century. Vijekar scored 61 off 42 and is innings was laced with 10 boundaries and couple of maximums. Keyur Shah of JNS Jaguars was the pick of the bowlers as he accounted for 3-28 in his four overs. The left arm medium fast bowler made good use of the his pace to account for three dismissals. Shah bowled well in tandem with Vivek Manchanda who scalped 2-13 in his two overs.
Chasing a respectable target of 136, JNS Jaguars got off to a solid start when the opening pair of Atul Ganeriwal (30) and Kunal Jhaveri (16) stitched a 47-run partnership in 32 balls. The batting of JNS Jaguars clicked as a team as each of them contributed to the team’s 5-wicket win. Each of the batsmen applied themselves well and played with a lot of maturity to see their team home. Vijekar’s 61 went in vain as JNS Jaguars chased down the target comfortably in 17.3 overs. With the ball, Jaymin Mehta of JNS Young Veterans picked up 2-21 in 2.3 overs, however his effort wasn’t good enough to restrict JNS Jaguars.
Keyur Shah, who picked up 3-28 in four overs was presented with the Man of the Match. Shah stated, “Zooter International School Dad’s Tournament is a fantastic platform and it is a matter of pride for me where I actually get a chance to be a child’s representative in a cricket tournament. I enjoyed bowling today as the wicket was very good to bowl on. JNS Young Veterans were looking solid and it was important for us to have a break through. In my one over I got rid of two of their batsmen which I think just turned the tables in our favour”.

Picking up from where he had left, Ajay Singh Janu of Montage struck yet another spectacular century during the Automotive Cricket League T20 on Sunday against IDFC at MIG Bandra, Mumbai. Opening the batting, Ajay’s blitzkrieg was unstoppable and he steered his team to a massive total of 216-3 in 20 overs. His 66-ball 105 was laced with nine boundaries and five sixes. However his delightful batting unfortunately ended when Singh was run out on the penultimate ball of the innings. Kranti Kumar (43) and Shubham Kamat (42 not out) joined the party as they took Montage to a magnificent score of 200 plus. Krushanu Shah and Dharmendra Sahu picked up one wicket each.
The lopsided affair ended on a horrible note for IDFC when Montage bundled out its opposition for a paltry 58 in 16.2 overs, losing the game by a huge margin of 158 runs. Opening bat Abhishek Sharma top scored with 19, however the rest of the batting line-up collapsed like a pack of cards. Surya Prakash was the wrecker-in-chief as he finished off his four over spell with 4-6. Sushil More chipped in with 3-5 in 1.2 overs and received good support from Mohit Awasthi and Shubham Kamat, who picked up one and two wickets respectively.
The man who hit two centuries back to back was presented with the Man of the Match for his stellar performance. Ajay Singh Janu exclaimed, “This seems like a dream. My joy knows no bounds and it is an incredible feeling to hit a century again in this match. I feel more confident about my batting now and look to repeat the same feat in the upcoming matches”.

After being made to bat first, Uttar Pradesh are in a really strong position notching up 621 runs in their 1st innings at the Kamla Club Ground in Kanpur. Riding on Shubham Chaubey (245) massive double ton and Aryan’s 121, U.P team certainly made things difficult for the Mumbai bowlers. Tanush Kotian was the pick of the bowlers from Mumbai picked up 5wkts giving 150 runs in a spell of 46 overs.
Mumbai in reply did not allow U.P to settle in easily as they also batted strongly managing to score 435 runs in their 1st innings. Bhupen who is definitely now the backbone and specialist opener of Mumbai team continued his purple patch with the bat scoring 166 off 290 balls laced with 22 boundaries. Bhupen as always looked rock solid and kept his calm at the crease even though the batsman from the other end were finding it difficult to convert their starts.
Uttar Pradesh is 157/2 in their 2nd innings and they are certainly having the upper hand in the match but Mumbai can bounce with an aim to win or atleast draw the match
Playing in the Zooter International School Dad’s Tournament, Vinay Jain of BD Royals got off to a flying start against Camp Rangers on Saturday at the RCF Sports Club, Chembur, Mumbai. Opening the batting, Jain scored a delightful looking 78 off 54 and played through all the 20 overs. His innings was marked with elegance and poise as he peppered the boundary rope eight times. BD Royals posted a mammoth 195-7. Camp Rangers’ Sushil Sanghvi was the star performer with the ball scalping 3-37 in his four overs.
Chasing a daunting target of 196, Camp Rangers failed to deliver as they were tamed at 148-4 in 20 overs, losing by 47 runs. Anish Bhansali (40 not out) and Kaushal Parikh (31) looked to take the game away from BD Royals but didn’t have the last laugh. Rishabh Shah, Rajiv Hingoo, and Kumar Adnani bowled well in tandem to pick up one wicket apiece.
Vinay Jain bagged the Man of the Match for his match winning knock. Vinay elucidated, “Zooter International School Dad’s Tournament gives us a chance to play professional cricket which otherwise would not have been possible. Talking about the match today, I enjoyed facing the pacers. Though the wicket was slightly slow to bat on, I was determined to play through. I am glad that my innings steered my team to an easy win”.
