DY Patil Sports Academy after being put to bat first on their homeground in Nerul could have got all out for a total of 150-180 odd runs had it not been their solid top order batsman Subramanian Doraiswamy leading from the front with a solid knock under pressure. Opening the innings Subbu as he is fondly called in the cricketing circles scored 111 off 172 balls (12 fours) while Kaustubh Pawar at no.4 was the 2nd highest scorer with a quick 41 ball 43 which pushed DY to 239/10 in 66.2 overs. All- rounder Parag Khanapurkar who is more known for his batting exploits this time was the pick of the bowler taking 5/49 in 14.1 overs with his leg-break spin.
Defending a total of 240 vs Payyade, the pressure was obviously on DY as Payyade has an equally formidable batting line up. However, DY Patil bowlers thrived on their home turf taking some quick wickets while youngster Karsh Kothari once again came in handy with 4/44 as he completes 50 wickets in Mumbai’s club cricket this season. Prashant Bhoir and Uzair Khan provided top order breakthroughs which also played a pivotal role. From payyade it was Parag with the bat too top scoring 57 runs off 70 balls entering the list of rare players to score a half century as well as take a fifer in the same match. Eventually, Payyade were all out for 217 runs in 61.5 overs.
Result-DY Patil won the match by 22 runs
