In an era when many cricket coaches are imparting training to kids from a young age with limited professional experience as a cricketer, it makes world of a difference to receive coaching from a player who has years of experience to back up with. Coach Rahul Thakur is one such example who has 31 years of experience so far as a professional cricketer.

During his peak days, Rahul was considered to be a dreaded fast bowler who would often change the game with match winning spells. It was on the back of his merit, he went on to play first class cricket representing Mumbai and Railways at first class level.
At domestic level, Rahul who is also a Ranji Trophy Champion (2003-04 season from Mumbai Team) has played alongside Indian cricketers like Abey Kuruvilla, Jatin Paranjape, Sairaj Bahutule, Murali Kartik, Sanjay Bangar, Ramesh Powar, Wasim Jaffer, Munaf Patel, Ajit Agarkar. Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane and many more international level players. Rahul also has experience of playing top division club cricket in Mumbai representing Payyade Sports Club, Cricket Club of India & Young Maharashtra CC.

Post his cricketing career, Rahul also forayed into coaching from the year 2012. Rahul now has close to 10 years of experience as a professional cricket coach.
Rahul is a professionally qualified NCA level A & Level O Coach while he has also received ICC Level 2 accredition. For his expertise & experience in fast bowling, Rahul was also appointed as the Bowling Coach of Mumbai Cricket Association’s MCA Academy for the season 2018-19. Rahul also leads as the Head Coach at RTCC (Rahul Thakur Cricket Academy) at Shivaji Park, Dadar wherein he mentors approximately 40 players.
Even though Rahul can mentor a cricket player in all general aspects, his core remains fast bowling, mental aspects & technique.

And when we talk about imparting quality coaching, Yogesh Khadgi who is also an engineer is one of those names making a mark for himself in Mumbai Cricket. Yogesh is himself a professional cricketer with close to 10 years of experience. As a player, he has been part of the MCA U14 & U16 summer camps from Kalyan Center. Yogesh also represented his college team in Inter University and Inter College tournaments. He also plays C Div Kanga League from Koli Combined CC and KRP XI clubs. Yogesh has also played Times Shield “C” Div from Chowghule CC.
In the year 2015, Yogesh forayed into coaching and it was in 2017 he achieved a feat which probably no other coach achieved in Mumbai. In 2017, Yogesh gave MCA Level “O” exam where he got 100/100 topping the results. With that score, he was probably the first coach to achieve the feat of scoring 100 on 100 in Mumbai.
Yogesh currently works as a Cricket Coach at Nerul Gymkhana and Jai Hind Sports Club. Yogesh was also the head coach for MCA U16 Navi Mumbai Center last year. Apart from that Yogesh is also practicing as a net bowler at CCI’s (Cricket Club of India) “A” division team since 2 years as an off-spinner. Since last one year, Yogesh has also developed his skills as a professional side arm specialist. He can bowl 130+ with the ball and has been giving practice to domestic players like Vinit Indulkar since last one year.
The transition which Yogesh has managed to achieve at a young age has been quite commendable. Let’s hope that Yogesh continues to progress more and more in his cricketing career.

The batting grip plays an important role in how you swing the cricket bat and make contact with the ball. A perfect batting grip also helps you to yield maximum power while generating shots. Even though the orthodox batting grip is considered to be ideal, it is very crucial for a player to find out which grip works the best for him or her. There are various types of Batting grips like ‘V’ shaped Grip, ‘O’ Shaped Grip, Knott Grip amongst others.

Ideally, your bat should be exactly placed right behind both the legs with a straight face.Your dominant hand which is the top hand should be closer to the top of the handle. The other hand which is the bottom hand should be closer to the bat blade. Putting your hands in the middle of the handle gives you the best combination of power and control. A high grip (hands towards the end of the handle) will produce more power.
