Mumbai: The combined all-round performances from Akash Parkar and Vinayak Bhoir powered Karnatak Sporting Association to comfortable 88 runs victory against P.J. Hindu Gymkhana in a second round league match of the MCA organsied Padmakar Talim Shield (T20) Cricket Tournament 2020-2021 played at the MCA ground, BKC on Sunday. This was Karnatak’s second consecutive win after their 3-wicket win against Victory CC on Saturday.
Mumbai Police Cricket Club also registered their second straight win recording a thumping 10-wicket win against Dadar Parsi Colony SC in another second round clash played at the Cricket Club of India ground. The policemen had earlier defeated Regal CC by 6-wickets.
Karnatak SA bolstered by solid batting displays from middle order batsmen Parkar 75 runs (50b, 6×4, 3×6) and Vinayak Bhoir 46 runs (20b, 5×4, 3×6) and along with number 3 bat Eknath Kerkar 44 (33b, 6×4, 1×6) amassed a challenging total of for 5 wickets from their 20 overs after being sent in to bat first.
In response, Hindu Gymkhana batsmen struggled against some disciplined opposition bowling and were bundled out for 104 in 17.5 overs. Anup Revandkar 37 runs (19b, 4×4, 3×6) was the lone batter who defied the rival attack. Medium pacer Parkar (3 for 14), left-arm spinners Vinayak Bhoir (2 for 21) and Ankeet Chavan (2 for 3) and off-spinner Tanush Kotian (2 for 26) shared the wickets.
Mumbai Police electing to field first dismissed Dadar Parsi for a low score of 71 runs in 15 overs. Varad Vaze (13 runs) and Fahim A. (11 runs) were the only batsmen to get double digit scores. Medium pacer Nadeem Shaikh (4 for 15) and left arm spinner Pushkaraj Chavan (2 for 9) did most of the damage. In reply, Mumbai Police comfortably reached the winning target making 72 runs without losing a wicket. Openers Shrikant Limbole 28 not out (24b, 5×4) and Anup Fulper 38 not out (26b, 6×4) batted confidently to see the policemen easily cross the finish line.

Siddhesh Pai – The Captain and Owner of one of the most famous cricket teams of Virar –Kings XI passed away a few days ago in a bike accident while returning from a trip with friends on south bound lane of Mumbai-Ahmedabad Higwhay in Virar.
Known for his helping nature, Siddhesh was one of the generous cricketers in Mumbai known to help many aspiring cricketers. Siddhesh’s cricket team Kings XI was considered to be one of the most formidable cricket teams in Vasai-Virar region.
Siddhesh led the team from the front participating in multiple tournaments and winning many trophies and competitions since its inception in 2015. Siddhesh was an aggressive top order batting all-rounder himself and often provided many match winning performances. If his statistics are anything to go by, he was one dangerous customer with the bat while often chipped in with crucial bowling spells.
His peers shared with Cricketgraph “Siddhesh was a very good human being, he started playing cricket from a very young age, he has supported many players. Even the team which he made, he brought players from different corners of Mumbai and gave many players opportunity to showcase their talents. Siddesh also spotted many tennis players and gave them an opportunity to play leather ball cricket.
Many players are today even playing club level cricket in Mumbai with the help and support provided by Siddhesh. Siddhesh often helped needy cricketers in their practice and training and we have certainly lost a very good friend of ours and more importantly a very good cricketer who had the vision to change landscape of cricket in Vasai-Virar region”
Mumbai: Mumbai Police Cricket Club made a good winning start recording a comfortable 6-wicket win against Regal Cricket Club in a first round league match of the MCA organized Padmakar Talim Shield (T20) Cricket Tournament 2020-2021 at the Cricket Club of India ground on Saturday.
Regal CC deciding to bat first could only manage a measly total of 65 all in 15.5 overs. Rushikesh Jadhav was the top-scorer with 13 runs, while Mumbai Police medium pacer Nadeem Shaikh picked up 3 wickets for 15 runs to restrict the opponents.
Mumbai Police chasing a low winning target struggled a bit and lost 4 wickets before reaching 67 to complete the win. Left-handed middle order batsman Anup Fulper (21 runs of 17 balls) and both the openers left-hander Shrideep Mangela (16 runs, 27 balls) and Sunil Patil (14 runs, 18 balls) ensured Mumbai Police coast to victory. Medium pacer Rugved More (2 for 24) was the most successful Regal CC bowler.
This is the first cricket tournament organized by MCA in Mumbai after the restrictions were relaxed following the Covid-19 second wave which hit the city and the entire country. Like last season this year too, the event will be a 20 overs format.

Played at Kaverni Sports Arena, Lifestyle Cricket Academy after opting to bat first could not post an imposing total on board getting 120 all out in 17.5 overs. Opener Ruturaj Mungekar (29 runs off 25 balls) and no.3 batsman Bins Neyoth (30 runs off 31 balls) stitched a crucial stand while the rest of the batters like Shubham Shewale & Sushil More chipped in with small cameos. From the bowlers, Nikhil Ajgaonkar with 4/17 in 4 overs was the pick of the lot while Ankit Jain also took 3 wickets.
Defending a total of 120, the pressure was certainly more on the defending team but Lifestyle bowlers gave an excellent comeback with the ball restricting Weekend Warriors to just 76 runs all out in 17.4 overs. From the bowlers, Omar Patni (2/6 in 3 overs), Satyalaksh (2/8 in 3 overs) & Anirudh Mainkar (2/9) were the pick of the lot bowling tight spells. All-rounder Shubham Shewale also chipped in with a miserly spell of 1/8 in 2.4 overs.

Mount CC after being put to bat first at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi posted a healthy total of 228/4 in 35 overs. Opener Gaurav Bharadwaj (58 runs) and Captain Yugal Saini (86 runs) were the highest scorers for Mount CC team.
Chasing 229 at more than 7 runs per over, the pressure was certainly on Young Cricketers CC team as opener Keshav Dalal guided the chase with a superlative knock of 95 runs in 82 balls (13 fours). Keshav has been in excellent form this season as he continues to amass runs in DDCA League. Apart from him, skipper Ajay G scored 59 runs. However, Young Cricketers fell short of chasing the target by 11 runs courtesy some tight bowling in the last 10 overs. Young Cricketers managed to reach 217/7 in 35 overs.

The decisive match between Maruti Suzuki led by Vidur Kaushik and P&P team led by Varun Arora was held on 3rd October where Maruti Suzuki won the coveted trophy by 4 wickets.
The occasion was graced by chief guests Sh. Arvind Sharma, MP, Haryana, and Sh. Manoj Upadhyay, Director and Deputy Advisor- Energy and International Cooperation, NITI Aayog, GOI.
The PCF Cup, which aims to promote sports in India, is one of The Ponty Chadha Foundation’s most earnest efforts in the field of promoting healthy and fit life. It provides a one-of-a-kind platform for corporate cricketers and sports fans to show off their skills.

Another day and another century for the Kenyan batter, Pushkar Sharma. There are cricketers who feel proud when they score a ton in a tournament and then comes this swashbuckling southpaw, who hit his fourth century of the ongoing Nairobi Provincial tournament this Sunday.
It was an encounter between Ruaraka A and SCLPS club. Pushkar’s team had won the toss and elected to bat first. Ruaurka ‘A’ lost wickets of opener Chandresh Hirani and one-down batter, Nitish Hirani in quick succession.
Mahendra Siyani deserves the credit behind this situation. Pushkar had opened the innings with Chandresh Hirani and had to take control of the innings from one end. He played his natural game and avoided unnecessary risks while his stay. Both Zephania and Gill looked good but couldn’t continue batting for long as they soon fell prey to some lethal bowling from SCLPS.
Pushkar was the lone warrior in this innings smacking 12 boundaries and 2 sixes. He went onto score 109 runs from 96 deliveries. His innings comrpised of some fascinating shots played at most parts of the ground. He helped his team get to a total of 214 and later on Ruaraka A defended quite well as they bundled SCPLS for 148. Sachin Gill and Vishil were brilliant with the ball as the former picked up two wickets and the later scalped a four-fer.
Pushkar has been in excellent form in this tournament amassing 715 runs in 10 matches so far with an average of 89.38 and strike rate of 103.77.
Assam after being put to bat first could only muster a modest total of 157/9 in 50 overs. Rohan Hazarika’s 61 at no.5 was the shining grace in an otherwise dismal batting performance courtesy some disciplined bowling performance from Mumbai bowlers.
Chasing 158, it looked like a formality for the Mumbai side as they went on to finish the chase in under 30 overs winning the match by 9 wickets. Opening the innings, Angkrish Raghuvanshi continued his good form with the bat smashing a match winning 82* off 78 balls (7 fours, 3 sixes). Angrkish was well supported by his opening partner Ayush Jethwa (52 runs) as both the openers stitched 107 runs stand for the 1st wicket.

Team Rajasthan after opting to bat first managed to post a total of 212 in 48 overs courtesy some tight bowling by the Mumbai bowlers. Middle order batsman NH Sachdev top scored with 74 runs while from Mumbai it was pacer Prince Badiani coming up with an impressive show. Prince was the pick of the lot for Mumbai returning with impressive bowling figures of 5/33 in 9 overs. Prince was spot on with his line and length which reaped rewards for him.
Chasing 212, the pressure was more on Rajasthan to defend such a modest total. However, Mumbai batters found it difficult to get going as they were all out for 124 runs. It was a disciplined bowling performance from Rajasthan bowlers as they won the match by 88 runs.
