On March 30, DTDC Express Ltd. took on Reliance Group Sports Club during the finals of ‘C’ Division MCA Corporate Trophy tournament. Reliance Group Sports Club won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Riding on twin half-centuries from Omkar Ghule (80 runs off 70 balls) and Maxwell Swaminathan (70 runs off 62 balls), DTDC Express Ltd. posted a fighting score of 220 in 38.1 overs. The middle order batters took the onus of their team’s batting as the top order failed to contribute big.  On the other hand, Mayur Deolekar was the pick of the bowlers for Reliance Group Sports Club as he struck with 4-42 in eight overs.

In reply, Reliance Group Sports Club fought hard as they scored 184. However they were bowled out in 38.2 overs, losing the finals by 34 runs. Akash Ayyar top scored with 47-ball 33 and towards the end Onkar Jadhav chipped in with a 30-ball 28 not out. On the other hand, Rakesh Naik wreaked havoc with the ball as he scalped 5-39 in eight overs. The slow left arm spinner rattled the opposition batting line-up in a jiffy. 

Omkar Ghule, Maxwell Swaminathan and Rakesh Naik were the top performers of the match. The trio powered DTDC Express Ltd. to the ‘C’ Division MCA Corporate Trophy championship by beating Reliance Group Sports Club.

 

 
 

Andhra Pradesh Team after being put to bat first by Mumbai scored 279 runs in 75.5 overs with their no.3 batsman SK Rasheed scoring 157 runs off 240 balls. From the bowlers, it was Saksham Jha who impressed one and all with a solid bowling spell of 5/86 in 14.5 overs. Sakhsam provided timely breakthroughs including that of SK Rasheed who was looking all set to score a big innings. Apart from Saksham, fast bowler Sylvester D Souza also bagged 2 wickets.

Mumbai Team in reply are batting at 302/8 in 93 overs and look in a strong position at the end of Day 2 with a lead of 23 runs. Opener Angkrish Raghuvanshi (55 runs) and Armaan Jaffer (64 runs) stitched 131 runs for the 2nd wicket followed by Half Century by Suved Parkar who scored 64 off 116 balls coming at no.5.

Mumbai: Wicket-keeper-batsman Sujay Thakkar’s patient unbeaten century knock of 122 runs (171 balls, 16x4s, 1x6s) and a half century effort of Nishad Gabhawala 50 runs (88 balls, 6x4s) helped Nirlon Sports Club record a tense 2-wicket win over Route Mobile SC in an interesting and high-scoring ‘B’ Division final of the 1st MCA Corporate Trophy Cricket Tournament played at the Bombay Gymkhana ground, on Thursday.

Chasing a challenging target of 297 to win from a maximum 75 overs, Nirlon bolstered by Thakkar brilliant batting performance easily overhauled the winning target scoring 298 for 8 wickets in 74.2 overs. All-rounder Yashraj Malaap scored 34 runs (46 balls, 2x4s) to boost the total. Route Mobile medium pacer Ravindra Solanki 4 for 104 runs and left-arm spinner Shashikant Kadam 2 for 89 got crucial wickets, but they could not prevent Nirlon from cruising to victory.

Earlier, Route Mobile preferring to bat first piled up a massive total of 296 for 9 wickets from 75 overs. Middle order batsmen Saksham Parashar 73 runs (111 balls, 7x4s, 1x6s) and Saeed Shaikh 64 runs (99 balls, 6x4s) were the leading scorers which propped the Route Mobile innings. Top-order batter  Vedant Murkar 35 runs (79 balls, 5x4s) and Sanket Kashte 33 runs (61 balls, 5x4s, 1x6s) made useful contributions.

Later, Shashikant Kadam 31 not out (21 balls, 2x4s, 2×6) and Ravindra Solanki 21 not out (13 balls 1x4s, 2x6s) added 38 quick runs to swell the total. Nirlon SC medium pacers Nipun Panchal 5 for 68 and Yashraj Malap 3 for 45 were responsible for picking the wickets.

Mumbai: Medium pacer Dhruv Sharma (4 for 23) and left-arm spinner Vinay Kunwar (4 for 12) helped New India Assurance (NIA) SC register a convincing 5-wicket win against Tata Power SC in the ‘E’ Division final of the 1st MCA Corporate Trophy Cricket Tournament played at the Parsee Gymkhana ground, Marine Drive on Wednesday.

Sharma and Kunwar were very effective and demolished the Tata Power batting which collapsed for just 113 runs in 31.1 overs. Openers Rohan Bane 39 runs (37 balls, 4x4s, 1x6s) and Akhand Singh 27 runs (42 balls, 3x4s) had provided Tata Power with a solid start putting together 69 runs for the first wicket in 13 overs. But, none of the other Tata Power batsmen were able to offer much resistance and they quickly lost wickets and the innings fell apart.

NIA chasing a low winning target suffered two early setbacks cheaply losing the wickets of opener Anish Shetty (3 runs) and Abhishek Walnekar (1 run) and were reeling at 13 for 2 wickets in 6 overs, but they managed score 114 for 5 wickets in 28 overs. Number four batsman Sumit Mishra 45 (74 balls, 7x4s, 1x6s), Vinay Kunwar 27 (23 balls, 3x4s) and Shubham Ghatge 24 (45 balls, 4x4s) made good contributions to ensure New India Assurance complete the 5-wicket win.

On March 29, MTNL Mumbai took on Capital Group Sports Club during the MCA Corporate Trophy tournament. MTNL Mumbai won the toss and elected to bat first.

Riding on opening batter Harsh Gharsun’s delectable 58, MTNL Mumbai posted 130 runs in 23.5 overs. Gharsun smashed six boundaries during his 54-ball knock. He was the lone warrior in the fight as he failed to find able allies with the bat.  On the other hand, Sabhajeet Pandey was the pick of the bowlers for Capital Group Sports Club as he struck with 5-16 in 5.5 overs.

In reply, Capital Group Sports Club could only manage to score 75 as they were bowled out in 23.2 overs. Apart from the opening pair of Satish Kadam (12 runs off 28 balls) and Vinayak Burkud (15 runs off 14 balls), none of the batters looked in shape. On the other hand, Saud Mansoori wreaked havoc with the ball as he scalped 7-14 in eight overs. The slow left arm spinner ran through the opposition batting line-up in a jiffy. 

Harsh Gharsun and Saud Mansoori were the top performers of the match. They guided MTNL Mumbai to a 55-run win over Capital Group Sports Club during the MCA Corporate Trophy.

On March 29, JSW Steel locked horns against Saraswat Kala Krida Mandal during the MCA Corporate Trophy tournament. Saraswat Kala Krida Mandal  won the toss and elected to bat first.

Saraswat Kala Krida Mandal posted a paltry score of 114 in 21.5 overs. Apart from Mohammed Armash (25 runs off 26 balls), Patil (24 runs off 22 balls) and Mrunal Todankar (23 runs off 19 balls), none of the other batters looked in shape. On the other hand, Yash Kripal wreaked havoc with the ball for JSW Steel. Kripal scalped 5-26 in eight overs, bowling left arm spin.

In reply, JSE Steel completed the formalities in 16.3 overs, winning the match by eight wickets. Arjun Thapa and Jayesh Patil led the run chase from the front as they mustered 44 not out and 39 not out respectively. Saraswat Bank Kala Krida Mandal’s bowlers had an off day with the ball as they failed to bundle out the opposition.

Yash Kripal was the top performer of the match. Kripal steered JSW Steel to an eight-wicket win over Saraswat Bank Kala Krida Mandal during the MCA Corporate Trophy.

Played at Ours Cricket Academy Ground in Virar, Ours C.A opting to bat first scored a total of 112/10 in 30 overs. The ACC bowlers did an impressive job as none of their batters could individually cross the 20 run mark. From the bowlers, it was spinner Chris D Britto who returned with excellent bowling figures of 4/35 in 7 overs providing timely breakthroughs at the middle order.

Defending a low total of 113, Ours C.A gave a tough fight and did not let the opposition team win easily.Shivmurat Jaiswal gave his best taking 4/23 in 7 overs including a maiden but eventually ACC crossed the victory line in the 28th over winning the match by 2 wickets. Janak Bhoir (34 runs) and Shubham Shinde (34 runs) contributed with crucial cameos with the bat while Chris Britto for his effective spell of 4 wkts was declared ‘man of the match’

Played at Parsee Cyclists Wicket on Azad Maidan in Mumbai, Datamatics Global after being put to bat first scored 155 all out in 31.5 overs. Vicky Patil at no.3 was the highest scorer with 30 runs while the rest of the batters also could’nt convert their starts. From the bowlers, Pankaj Kori with 4/33 in 6.5 overs bowled an impressive spell being the pick of the lot. Utkarsh Raut also bagged 3 wkts for 29 runs in his spell of 7 overs.

Mahindra Logistics in reply chased down the score successfully courtesy a 99* runs unbeaten stand by middle order batters Utkarsh Raut and Sameeran Chalke. Datamatics lost some quick top order wickets with scoreboard reading 60/3 at one stage, however Utkarsh Raut who came at no.4 scored 65* off 48 balls smashing 9 fours and a six alongiwith Sameeran who remained 40* off 45 balls with 6 boundaries.

Mahindra Logistics eventually won the finals by 7 wkts and 12 overs to spare while Utkarsh Raut was declared ‘man of the match’

Thane: Alina Mulla of Nerul Gymkhana defeated Tushi Shah of Negiv Cricket Academy by just one run in the final ball match to clinch the first Khandu Ranganekar Smriti Women’s Singles Wicket at the Mumbai Cricket Association for the first time in almost 25 years.

In the decisive match of the tournament played at the Central Ground organized by Sporting Club Committee, Tushi scored 16 runs from 12 balls without being dismissed. In the face of this challenge, Alina scored 17 not out with two fours and won the cash prize of Rs 5,000. Runner-up Tushi had to settle for Rs 3,000. In the match for third place, Aditi Surve defeated Pragya Bhagat by two runs. Pragya set a target of 12 for Aditi without losing his wicket in two overs of four balls. Aditi won the match by 14 runs keeping his wicket intact.

Muskan Kanojia of Dahisar Sports Club was selected for the Best Fielder award given by Sarvasvi Subhash, Hareshwar and Vivek Morekar in memory of his father Motiram Morekar. 32 women cricketers participated in the tournament.

Semi-final result: (4 balls one over): Tushi Shah – 19 not out wins against Aditi Surve – 17 – 2 = 15 (once out). Alina Mulla – 8 not out against Aditi Surve – 6-2 = 4 (once out).

On March 29, Shweta Enterprises Warriors took on Somaiya Sports Academy during the MCA Corporate Trophy tournament. Shweta Enterprises Warriors  won the toss and elected to bat first.

Shweta Enterprises Warriors posted a competitive score of 274 in 38.5 overs. Ankur Singh top scored with a 114-ball 149. Batting at number three, Singh smashed 24 boundaries and four sixes. The top order batter played some good looking shots and ran well between the wickets. On the other hand, Abhishek Jain was the pick of the bowlers for Somaiya Sports Academy  as he struck with 4-30 in eight overs.

In reply, Somaiya Sports Academy could only manage to score 80. They were bowled out in 25.4 overs. None of the batters looked in shape as they failed to put up a strong fight. On the other hand, the bowlers of Shweta Enterprises Warriors had a good outing. Anuj Bhosale and Abu Sufiyan Shaikh were the wreckers-in-chief as they struck with 3-9 and 3-26 respectively.  

Ankur Singh was the top performer of the match. Singh powered Shweta Enterprises Warriors to a 194-run win over Somaiya Sports Academy during the MCA Corporate Trophy.
