Delhi batter Samarth Seth had a successful outing for Barnard Castle in Durham County. Scoring close to 2,500 runs in 2 seasons, he raised the bar in the Premier Division.
Samarth impressed in his first venture as a Barnard Castle player in 2021. In 38 innings, the southpaw scored a whopping 1484 runs. With 3 tons and 10 fifties with a splendid average of almost 45, Seth was the highest run scorer in the ECB league. That year, he contributed to 21.54 % of Barnard Castle’s total runs. When it came to the Vitality T20 National Championship, Samarth was in a league of his own, averaging a remarkable 86.33, he scored 259 in mere 4 innings. His contributions helped the Durham team to triumph.
Samarth was also parachuted in Barnard Castle’s biggest game in their club history. Special arrangements were made for the marquee batsman to fly back from Delhi for the National twenty20 Club Cup Final.
The Arunachal Ranji batter came back for another season in 2022. This time, in 30 innings, Seth almost scored 1000 runs again averaging a stately 42.61. In the league, the power hitter once again showcased his prowess by scoring 695 runs and ended up the second highest run scorer in 2022.
109*, 79, 114, 79, 83*, 100, 112 and 101 are just a few of his top scores in the overseas league, Seth played multiple crucial knocks for the club.
Samarth is currently competing for a spot for the Delhi Senior’s team.
In a Senior Inter-District Tournament game between Raipur and BSP, Shashank Singh showed his class with the bat.
Batting first, Raipur scored a whopping 196 in 20 overs for the fall of 6 wickets. Opener Rishabh Tiwari started off the game magnificently by scoring 66 off just 48 deliveries. Coming one down, it seemed Shashank Singh had only one intention. The Sunrisers Hyderabad batter hammered an ecstatic 63 off just 33 deliveries. In that innings, Singh had 7 boundaries of which 6 were hit out of the park. The Raipur batsman player ended up with an unreal strike rate of 190.91.
It was comparatively an easy outing for the Raipur bowlers as they restricted BSP to just 166, winning the game by 30 runs. Singh yet again managed to contribute as he picked up a wicket.
Currently Shashank is preparing for the Syed Mushtaq Ali as he competes for the CSCS Blue in the Chhattisgarh Cup T20 2022-23 against Vidarbha, Karnataka, Baroda and Gujarat Cricket Associations.

Prashant Karia is one of the rare gems who has represented the same club for more than 25 years! These days, players are happy to jump ship but Karia emulates the word “Loyalty”. Karia has been playing Kanga League for 31 years and made his debut in 1992.
The then 16 year old Prashant Karia bagged an impressive 4 wicket haul on his debut. Back then, he was known for his fast bowling. After a breakthrough year in 1992, he got an unreal opportunity to be a net bowler for the 1993 Hero Cup. He bowled to the South Africans and mighty West Indies. Against the likes of Brian Lara, he was given a platform to showcase his skills.
The upcoming star was hit by an unfortunate injury. In the 1994/95 season, Karia had to endure a career threatening stress factures in his leg. This meant an indefinite break from cricket. In the 96′ season, Prashant made his comeback but his pace had reduced significantly due to the injury. This hampered his future goal to represent Mumbai.
Karia had joined the Ghatkopar Jolly Gymkhana as a member in 95′ and started playing for their cricket team in 1997. Ghatkopar Jolly was a team competing in the knockouts, dreaming of playing top division Kanga League Initially, the lack of cricketing cultured curtailed any sort of development. After watching the commitment and determination of Prashant, they handed him the captaincy two years later.
Since 1999, Prashant brought about changes in the structure. Getting better cricketers, purposeful practice sessions and building a team were on top of his list. With the intentions to promote the team in upper divisions, Karia set a trend. In 2007 they reached in the finals for the first time but unfortunately lost. The next year they had a chance again but failed. Finally in 2009, they won in their third consecutive finale appearance. It took him 10 years to build a championship winning team but the wait was worth it!
After 10 years of hard work and determination, Ghatkopar Jolly Gymkhana finally won the Kanga Knockouts and were promoted to G Division. Since 2009, Ghatkopar Jolly Gymkhana and Karia were on a roll winning the G division in 2009, F Division in 2010, E Division in 2011 and D Division in 2012. Since 2013, Ghatkopar Jolly Gymkhana is competing in C Division and hoping to reach the top division.
After achieving as much as he could as a player and a captain, he groomed young players around him. By the end of season in 2016, Karia gave up the captaincy role but still continues to play for Ghatkopar Jolly till this day.
When asked about this, he replied “Definitely as a player but even as a person I’ve grown. Starting so young at a club with a dream and coming close to it is something I cherish. This has been a journey of a lifetime.”
Captaincy wasn’t the only role he had, currently he is in the Managing Committee and The Sports Coordinator of the club. Apart from this, he has started his coaching career as well to guide youngsters.
On the 28th of August 2022, Karia scored a tough 64 off 180 balls batting for more than 2 hours. 31 years at the same club along with the same hunger.
Maintaining and cleaning your bat is every batsman’s responsibility. Apart from being a cricketer, you should know how to look like one as well. Just like how we like to wear clean and fresh clothes, our cricket equipment should be maintained properly as well.
As everyone is aware, ZSportstech design bats as per the player’s requirement but they also provide a Bat Care Kit along with their willows so the batsman can clean his bat. The kit contains a standing pad which is a replacement of the rough polishing paper and a special bat wax.
The standing pad is a foam like pad which is used to clear ball marks from the bat. It should be rubbed on the bat so the annoying red marks are removed without any issues. There is no need for any liquids. This is the perfect replacement for sandpaper or polishing paper which might be too rough.
The kit also contains a bat wax which is used to give the bat a shining affect after cleaning. The wax is one of a kind which cannot be found anywhere else.
The kit is surely recommended if not bought already.
