In another game of Purshottam Shield, PJ Hindu Gymkhana trumped Young Comrade by 53 runs to emerge victorious. Jash Ganiga scored a brilliant 56 in a low scoring game as PJ Hindu managed a modest target of 190. Mayuresh Tandel scalped 4 as Vedant Patil took 3. A relatively easy target to chase, Young Comrade found themselves in trouble as PJ Hindu’s Amogh Bhatkal scalped 3 wickets giving away just 10 runs. Ultimately, Young Comrade were bowled out for just 137 in 32 overs.

Bhatnagar emerged victorious in their first round against the Cricket Club of India in the Purshottam Shield. CCI’s grand total of 299 seemed enough as Sagar Chhabria hammered a 101 as Sujit Nayak scored half century of his own to help their cause while Monil Soni picked up 3 wickets. Chasing a stiff target, Bhatnagar’s Ajit Yadav made the chase happen by contributing an unbeaten 98 turned the tables around. Fenil Soni scored 76 as he contributed crucial runs. Penalty runs of 20 didn’t help CCI’s defence either as it ultimately cost them the vistory.

Parel Sporting defeated the mighty DY Patil in the first round of the Purshottam Shield. Ashutosh Ghagre was the star of the match as he contributed heavily towards bowling out DY Patil for just 186 by picking up for 4 wickets. Vinit Dhulap also had a hand as he picked up 3 wickets. While chasing a relatively easy target, Parel Sporting found themselves in trouble as well but Ghagre stepped up and contributed 46 with the bat as well alongside Sumeir Zaveri’s 47. With a close finish, Parel Sporting won with an over and 4 wickets to spare.

A dominating display of bowling by Sachin Bhosale who purchased 5 wickets and gave away only 11 runs made sure Victory CC have the upper hand in their competition against Fort Vijay. Atharva Poojary supported him well as he picked up 3 wickets, bundling up Fort Vijay for just 79. Needless to say, Victory CC’s runchase was a cake walk yet they lost 4 wickets but managed to win it with 6 wickets in hand. Abul Kalam took 3 Victory CC wickets but in vain.

Divyaansh Saxena’s 128 helps Dadar Union win against Apollo CC by a huge margin of 85 runs. Dadar Union was put into a commanding position in the first innings itself by Saxena as they scored 235 in45 overs. Siddhant Singh’s quick fire 36 aided the finish as Vijay Kumavat took 3 wickets. Apollo CC were lost for answers as they were bowled out for just 150. Yash Singh highscored with 52 but it wasn’t enough.

An exciting encounter in the ongoing Purshottam Shield, Khar Gymkhana fell short by just 6 runs against United Cricketers. United Cricketers scored 253 in their alloted 45 overs, Yash Patil scored a crucial half century to aid them. Khar Gymkhana’s Raj Waghela scored 52 foe their team in the runchase but unfortunately Khar lost out. Even with 5 overs in hand, Khar were bowled out for 247 as Prashant Patil took 3 wickets.

Despite of Shreeraj Gharat’s best efforts, Parsee Gymkhana emerged victorious against Parkophene in the one-day Purshottam Shield. Scoring 254 for the loss of 6 wickets in 45 overs, Parkopehene put up a competitive total thanks to Gharat’s 93 but the day belonged to the batsmen of Parsee Gymkhana as they chased the target with 15 balls to spare. Sachin Yadav high scored with 64. Alongside him, Kevin Almeida and Nikhil Patil hammered 50’s of their own.

Japjeet Randhawa and Bhupen Lalwani scored centuries for Payyade CC but the batting unit of Muslim United was too much for the Payyade bowlers. With 367 on board, it was all but Payyade’s game to lose. Mayur Sanap and Ajinkya Beloshe initially scored well and scored fifties of their own to build a foundation for their chase. After losing 4 wickets, Ruturaj Sane and Ajinkya Beloshe hammered quick-fire half centuries to chase down the mammoth target with 2 overs to spare in the first round of the Purshottam Shield.

In the newly branded white ball 40 over Purshottam Shield, Dadar Parsee Colony SC won against the Sainath SC in a dominant fashion by 7 wickets. Batting first, Sainath SC managed a total of just 235 in 45 overs which was comfortably chased down by DPC. All rounder Maxwell Swaminathan and wicketkeeper Vedprakash Jaiswal led the charge as they notched up half centuries of their own.

Sports Field CC comfortably defeat Dadar Parsee Colony in the Sontosh Kumar Ghosh Trophy Organized by Sporting Union Club and Kalyandas Memorial Sports Foundation, Ajinkya Naik, Suraj Samat and Sanjay Naik. Sports Field CA scored a competitive total of 243. Waseem Khan top scored with 64 as Akhilesh Barai from DPC took 5 wickets but in vain as DPC were bundled up in the second innings for just 159. Chirag Modak’s crucial spell of 4/40 helped Sports Field take an all important lead in the game. Sports Field CC have qualified to the finals of the Ghosh Trophy Finals and will play against the Dilip Vengsarkar CA.
