Lilavati Hospital SC took on Mahindra Logistics LTD in a Times Shield D division game. Mahindra won the toss and elected to bowl first at Bengal CC in Shivaji Park.
With a bid to set a competitive total, Lilavati set out to bat but could manage only 205 after being dismissed in the 45th over of the game. After a top order collapse, Rupesh Kondalkar steadied the ship in the middle order by contributing invaluable 51 off 64 balls. Apart from him, Vishal Shinde scored 44 in quick successions down the order to push the total. Mahindra’s bowlers displayed incredible skill to restrict Lilavati but it was Abhishek Pandey’s spell which gave Mahindra the upper hand. In his 9 overs, Pandey bowled 2 maiden overs and conceded only 15 runs as he claimed an invaluable 5 wickets.
In reply, Mahindra sealed the victory with comparative ease. Opener Kushal Dawane high scored with 71 off 101 anchoring the innings from one end. Ihsaan Amin (35 off 41) and Sameeran Chalke (45 off 39) provided the finishing touch as Mahindra won the game by 7 wickets in hand in the 39th over itself.
Ravindra Gharat defined the true meaning of aging like fine wine as he bowled an incredible spell of 5 overs, 10 runs picking up 5 wickets at the age of 60. In a Times Shield D Division game between Tata Steel and All Cargo, Tata convincingly defeated their opponents by bowling them out for mere 63 runs in 21 overs. With a splendid bowling effort, especially from Ravi Gharat, Tata’s batsmen had an easy outing in the second innings.
Tata chased down the target of 64 in just the 9th over of the game. Although they had an early scare by losing 3 wickets for just 15 runs, Tushar’s 31 off 15 switched the momentum of the game instantly. Ravindra Gharat definitely proved that age is just a number.
The Wheelchair Sports Association Mumbai organized a cricket game between Mumbai A and Mumbai B on 23rd December. The game witnessed incredible grit and intensity between the two teams. This match was organised by Divyang Vikas Sangh & Mumbai Wheel Chair Cricket Team and was supported by Prof. Vasanthi Kadhiravan, Department Of Physical Education University Of Mumbai. Mr. Nilotpal Mrinal (Disabled Rights Activist & Social Worker) Mr. Santosh Yeram & Mr. Suhas Vichare (Vibagh Sanghatak Maharashtra Navnirman Sena) Mr. Mangesh Malondkar (President Divyang Vikas Sangh) Mr. Lal Bahadur Pushkar (Income Tax Commissioner).
Wheelchair cricket players are 70% to 90% physically challenged, They do batting, bowling & fielding on wheelchairs. The team includes all the players with different disabilities like polio, amputee, spinal cord injuries & cerebral palsy. Few players from the Mumbai team have also played for the Indian Wheelchair Cricket Team. Wheelchair Sports Association Mumbai is Registered Under the Societies Act.1860 & it is affiliated with Wheelchair Cricket India Association who manages the Indian Wheelchair Cricket Team.
Mumbai A won the toss and elected to field first in the T20 game. Batting first, Mumbai B, led by Vishwanath Gurav scored a competitive total of 149 runs losing 7 wickets. The skipper contributing a crucial 69 runs in 48 balls as his teammate Sahil Sayyed scored a handful 28 off 18 balls.
Mumbai A retaliated with an aggressive batting display as they chased down the target in just 10.3 overs. It was the pair of Ganesh Shelar and Santosh Ranjagane who sealed the game for Mumbai A. Ganesh Shelar made 67 off 31 balls while Santosh Ranjagane hammered a 27 ball 62.
After a dominant display, led by Rahul Ramugade, Mumbai A sealed the victory by 7 wickets. For his blasting innings of 67 and 2 quick wickets on his name, Santosh Ranjagane was adjudged as the Man of The Match.

Lalchand Rajput XI and Chandrakant Pandit XI locked horns against each other during the U25 Shalini Bhalekar Trophy. The game was played between December 21 and 23.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Lalchand Rajput XI posted a mammoth 423 in 75.1 overs. Varun Lavande was the star performer for Lalchand Rajput XI as he muscled a delectable 251. Raj Waghela (53) and Om Keshkamat (37) were the other contributors with the bat. On the other hand, Chandrakant Pandit XI’s Prayag Kumar was the pick of the bowlers with 38/5.
In reply, Chandrakant Pandit XI were bowled out for 259 in 65.4 overs. Aryan Patni (100) and Sahil Jadhav (70) fought hard but failed to take their team closer to the opposition’s total. Shreyas Gurav (35/5) and Prashant Solanki (92/3) were the most successful bowlers for Lalchand Rajput XI. Chandrakant Pandit XI trailed by 164 runs at the end of the innings.
Taking a healthy lead of 164, Lalchand Rajput XI added another 203 runs in 47 overs at the loss of four wickets. They set a daunting target of 368 runs for Chandrakant Pandit XI. Divyaansh Saxena top-scored with 61, while Atharva Chavan and Varun Lavande chipped in with 46 runs each.
In the last innings, Chandrakant Pandit XI were reduced to 287/9 in 63 overs. Chandrakant Pandit XI’s Sahil Jadhav (83) and Aarya Satpute (70) smashed brilliant half-centuries. On the other hand, for Lalchand Rajput XI, the Shreyas Gurav – Prashant Solanki duo again claimed the maximum wickets. While Gurav finished with 88/3, Solanki accounted for 120/5.
The match between Lalchand Rajput XI and Chandrakant Pandit XI ended in a draw, with the former taking the first-innings lead.
Dilip Vengsarkar XI took on Jahangir Pithawala XI during the U25 Shalini Bhalekar Trophy. The game was played between December 21 and 23. Jahangir Pithawala XI won the toss and elected to bat first.
Riding on Satyalaksh Jain’s stellar century, Jahangir Pithawala XI posted 277 in 72.1 overs. Jain smashed 124 and found an ally in Vedant Murkar, who chipped in with 55. On the other hand, Dilip Vengsarkar XI’s Sourabh Singh wreaked havoc with the ball, scalping 69/6.
In reply, Dilip Vengsarkar XI went past Jahangir Pithawala XI’s total as they scored 338 in 75 overs. Atharva Ankolekar starred with the bat, muscling 153. Harshal Jadhav (41) and Saksham Parashar (33) were the other contributors with the bat. Varun Joijode (83/3), Anjdeep Lad (89/3), and Khizar Dafedar (99/3) were the most successful bowlers for Jahangir Pithawala XI. Dilip Vengsarkar XI took a lead of 61 runs at the end of the innings.
Trailing by 61, Jahangir Pithawala XI batted brilliantly in the second innings, scoring 495/5 in 90 overs. They set a challenging target of 435 runs for Dilip Vengsarkar XI. Shreeraj Gharat (159), Satyalaksh Jain (124), and Vedant Murkar (104) struck scintillating centuries to take their team to a formidable position.
The match between Jahangir Pithawala XI and Dilip Vengsarkar XI ended in a draw, with the latter taking the first-innings lead.
The Ranji Trophy game between Indian Railways and Punjab provided for an eventful and a controversial conclusion as in the 4-day match, two different games giving two different outcomes were played. Due to terrible pitch conditions, two different games were played on two different pitches in the allotted 4 days.
The scheduled game between the two teams was played at the Karnail Singh Stadium, Delhi from 20th to 23rd December. Tipped to be a fierce competition, the unpredictable pitch added on the spice which would later change the outcome of the game. After batting first, Punjab scored a total of just 162. This total might be considered as a low score but on this pitch was actually a match winning as batsmen struggled to settle. Using these favorable bowling conditions to his advantage, Adarsh Singh claimed 5 wickets.
In reply, Railways were found wanting at 51 for the loss of 7 wickets but late heroics from Yuvraj Singh (56 off 66) and Akash Pandey (33 off 75) saw them reach a competitive total of 150. Despite trailing by 12 runs, the Railways were in the game. By this time, the pitch had deteriorated substantially in the early stages of the second day itself.
Punjab’s second innings began and they found themselves in trouble immediately. In just 8 overs they had lost 4 wickets at just 18 runs. Just as the Railways were making a crucial comeback in the game, the game was suspended as Punjab’s Captain Mandeep Singh was hit on the arm. The match referees had to step in and stop the game, deeming the current pitch as dangerous.
After further considerations and discussions, the game was set to resume on the 3rd day on a different pitch but the progress of the first 2 days would be disregarded and the game would be played in a 2-day format. Such an incident was first of a kind in Ranji Trophy’s history.
After the significant decision, the Indian Railways set out on the 3rd day with an opportunity to regain the lost momentum. Punjab won the toss in the second game and asked Railways to bat first on the new pitch. Although better than the previous pitch, the substitute wicket had challenges of its own as well. Railways were bowled out for 102 as Siddharth Kaul picked up 5 wickets. Punjab retaliated with a first innings lead by declaring on 152/6 and claiming the first inning victory.
With a bid for on outright win, Punjab attempted to bowl out the Railways but the the final day came to an anticlimactic end as Railways were unbeaten for 49.
With a chance to attain an infamous win against Punjab, Indian Railways had their work cut out and eventually lost the game on a first innings lead in the dramatic Ranji game.

In the ongoing MSSA U-14 boys Giles Shield Tournament, IES V.N Sule Guruji had an incredible game especially on the first day as they piled up a whopping 301, losing just 2 wickets in the process. Batting first against the Our School Boys in their 2nd league game, IES dominated the game with the bat. Shon Korgasonkar hammered a phenomenal 121 as his teammate Ved Tendulkar hammered 116. Although Tendulkar was dismissed, Ved Tendulkar stayed unbeaten with his ton as IES declared at the mammoth target at the loss of two wickets to have a crack at the Our School Boys batsmen.

Vibgyor High School organized a splendid interschool cricket tournament for U-14 boys where a total of 16 teams competed. The 14th Vibgyor Viva-Interschool Cricket Tournament 2022-23 was a part of the infamous Viva sports fest of Vibgyor where 14 sports were played. From 19th to 21st December, the cricket tournament was played in the enthralling and entertaining T-10 format with a red ball.
All games were captured on the Cricketgraph Mobile App so the students, teachers, higher authorities and numerous other people could enjoy the action-packed match highlights on Cricketgraph’s YouTube channel.
With 16 teams, the tournament was in a knock out format making it a winner takes all competition providing the viewers with dramatic battles. After 14 games, Oxford Public School and Vibgyor Malad East faced each other in the finals. After 20 overs of intense cricket, Oxford Public School prevailed and won the 14th Viva Interschool Cricket Tournament as Vibgyor Malad East settled for second best after a competitive campaign.

On December 21, IES VN Sule English School handed a crushing 319-run defeat to Chatrabhuj Narsee Memorial School during the super league match of the Mumbai Indians Junior Under 16 in Mumbai. Chatrabhuj Narsee Memorial School won the toss and elected to field.
Batting first, IES VN Sule English School posted a mammoth 403/7 in 34 overs on the back of a stellar century from Anirudh Nair. Nair muscled an unbeaten 105 off 81, hitting 12 boundaries and clearing the rope four times. Besides Nair, Shreyansh Rai (29), Shreyash Lad (28), and Shaurya Rai (38) were the other major contributors with the bat. On the other hand, Neev Bharodiya was the most successful bowler for Chatrabhuj Narsee Memorial School, as he claimed 56/2 in seven overs.
In reply, Chatrabhuj Narsee Memorial School were bundled out for 84 in 25.2 overs, losing the match by 319 runs. The opening pair of Heel Gabani (30) and Jash Sheth (20) provided a steady start to the run chase with a 54-run partnership. However, the rest of the batting order collapsed like a pack of cards as the team lost nine wickets for 30 runs. Anshul Moraje was the pick of the bowlers for IES VN Sule English School as he scalped 5/4 in eight overs, including six maidens. The off-spinner bowled eight overs on the trot and gave the first breakthrough to his team.
