A collective team effort by ICICI Securities saw them through in their encounter against Airtel. Airtel’s star opening batsman played a knock suited to his reputation.

Having invited to bat first, Airtel batsman Jitesh took a toll on ICICI’s bowlers. He carried his bat through scoring a magnificent 115 off just 69 balls, hitting 15 fours and 2 sixes. Airtel could have easily scored 200 had Jitesh got good support from the other end. Irrespective 177 was a decent score to chase for ICICI securities.

This match showed that cricket is a team game. ICICI Securities batsmen kept their nerves and used all of the 20 overs to achieve their target of 178 runs. Amod Bagwe scored a 41 ball 62 to see his team through. He was very well supported by Javed and Anil.

Jitesh’s valiant knock was in vain. Amod Bagwe was declared Man of the match in the winning cause.

MAN OF THE MATCH  Sagar Pania ‘s all round performance of 6 wkts & 31 not out runs leads Team Omtex to 2nd successive win , to top the table with 8 points in the Omtex Cup 2015- 16

Team Omtex won the toss and put Terabyte Infosys in to bat .A Explosive opening batting partnership of 82 runs in 8.3 overs  by openers Kapil Thakkar  & Rahul Khicha got them off to flyer but unfortunately they could not build up on the good start and lost next 5 wkts in 34 runs by the 12.5th  over of the innings because of some good spin bowling in  tandem  by Sagar Pania & Jayesh Shah & a disciplined fielding effort by Team Omtex.
Vimal & Kunal Patel of Terabyte Infosys steadied the innings towards the end but no one really got going and the team could not last 40 overs and were all out for 221 in 33 overs .

Chasing 222 to win Team Omtex got of to brisk start with 24 runs in 3.3 overs but lost two crucial  wickets in quick succession in a span of 20 runs and were 44 for 2 in 6.5 overs Opening the innings  Atit Shah played the perfect role by scoring 50 runs of 65 balls  entrusted on him by the captain. Holding one end of the wicket, made crucial partnerships with Kalpesh Bhuta & Jayesh Shah, of 27  & 34 runs respectively which helped them get closer to the target .However due to some disciplined bowling by Terabyte infosys Team Omtex were 134 runs for 7 wickets at the end of 25.4 overs needing another 88 runs to win in 14.2 overs.  Manav Pasad played a Cameo innings of 56 runs of 23 balls and in partnership of 88 runs  with Sagar Pania who made a brisk 31 runs of 20 balls , reached the target of 222 in 32.1 overs .with 7.5 overs left …to lead Team Omtex to a fantastic victory. ..

Hansraj School could manage a below average score of 126 runs against St. Francis school in the Harris Shield tournament. But it proved enough for Hansraj as they bundled out opposition for 104 runs.

It was the Aarya and Aaryan show for Hansraj. Aarya Jadhav top scored with 34 while Aaryan Sen took 4 wickets.

Suryansh Shedge was the star of the day overshadowing other performances in the reputed school cricket tournament, the Harris Shield.

Playing for Gundecha school education Kandivali Suryansh’s knock was a treat to watch. He absolutely had no regards for any of the bowlers of SBS Shree Mumba Devi school. He hit the ball to all corners of the ground scoring 167 runs in just 98 balls hitting jaw dropping 27 boundaries. His knock took the game out of reach of the opposition. Dev Shah and Aryan Shetty too had a good outings with the bat, scoring 72 off 85 balls and 48 off 24 balls respectively. Nahush Patil too scored brisk 42 runs. Gundecha posted an unbelievable 408 runs in 45 overs.

It was time for Anurag Mishra of Gundecha to shine with the ball after batsmen s brilliant performance. Anurag bowled a magical spell in which he bowled 6 overs gave away 18 runs and claimed half of the SPS Shree MumbaDevi Vidya Niketan School side. His scalps included a hattrick as well. SPS were bundled for 49 giving a massive win of 359 runs to Gundecha.

There were many stars for Gundecha today but Suryansh’s knock would be remembered for many days to come.

In another one sided match in the ongoing Harris Shield tournament, Paranjpe Vidyalaya, Andheri defeated Vibgyor High School, Goregaon by 7 wickets.

Avinash Shinde was the star with the bat while Omkar Jadhav starred with the ball. Vibgyor could manage only 104 runs as Omkar ran through their innings picking up 5 wickets.

Avinash’s knock made an easy meal of the small chase. Paranjpe achieved the target in the 16th over losing only 3 wickets. Avinash scored 48 runs, missing his half century narrowly.

Janak Kangavkar was brilliant with the ball today picking up 4 wickets in his spell of 8 overs giving away only 31 runs. He bowled 2 maiden overs too.

Janak’s bowling helped St. Xavier’s school, Andheri bowl out Ryan High School, Goregaon for 90 runs in 27.1 overs. Xavier’s bowlers justified their captains faith in bowling first but Xavier’s batsmen made a mess of an easy chase. In the end they managed to achieve the target in the 23 rd over but cost them 7 wickets. Hardik more scored 36 runs not out and kept his nerve to ensure st.Xavier school reach shore safely.

Rohit Purabia first scored 77 runs while batting enabling his school, SKI Jain high school(marine line ) post a decent 224 all out against Dr. Ambedkar high school ( Vikhroli).

He was not done yet as he took 6 wickets of Dr. Ambedkar’s. Dr. Ambedkar were all out in just 39 runs within the 12 th over. Rohit missed out on a hattrick but managed to get a over hattrick (3 wickets in an over)

Oxford public school – Kandivali batting first against Dyankendra school Andheri in the Harris Shield tournament scred a healthy 318 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 43 overs.

Gyankendra batting simply collapsed against a decent attack scoring only 29 runs all out lasting only 9 overs. Thus Oxford school won by handsome margin of 289 runs.
