First day of the Harris shield Elite group saw three batting stars born from the Swami Vivekanand School, Borivali.

Batting first in the first innings, thanks to the these 3 batters (Shlok Iyer, Vighnesh Kharge and Hem Patel), Vivekanand amassed 473 runs for the loss of just 2 wickets against St. Anne’s school. While Shlok was out for 121, Vighnesh and Hem are still there batting at 191 and 96 respectively. Second day looks ominous for the St. Annes bowlers.

Shlok and Vighnesh had a partnership of 201 while the 3rd wicket partnership between Vighnesh and Hem is already 199 runs old.

Friends Premier League witnessed a good match between ACT and HighFlyers team. One man’s contribution tilted the match in HighFlyers favor.

Batting first on a bowling pitch, none of the highflyers batsman could withstand excellent bowling by ACT team except one, should it be two instead. Niranjan Tungare and Jigar shah batted well for the second wicket. Once Niranjan fell for well made 26, Jigar got absolutely no support from the other end but Jigar played a ‘Jigari’ knock, staying till the end ensuring their bowlers have a good target to bowl at. Jigar remained unbeaten on 98 in just 72 balls. Setting a target of 160 to win.

ACTs chase started well but lost momentum in the middle overs Abhishek Pandey and Jigar shah tightened the screws. In the end ACT fell short by 25 runs. It will be remembered as Jigar Shah’s match in-spite of missing his century by just 2 runs.

The value of an all rounder can not be undermined in a T20 format. Kailash was in his elements in the tie between IndusInd bank and Pepe Jeans.

Deciding to bat first Pepe got a decent start as half way through their innings they were well poised at 60 for 2. Once Kailash got ball in his hand the whole equation changed. Kailash bowled a superb 2.3 overs spell in which he accounted for 4 Pepe batsman for just 13 runs. Pepe folded up for mere 97.

Kailash then showed his class with the bat as well slamming 39 not out off 25 deliveries. IndusInd bank won by 8 wickets with incredible 11 overs to spare. Kailash Chavan was awarded Man of the Match award for this memorable performance.

Reliance top order was in their best form against Zycus Infotech in the Dreamz T20 corporate cricket tournament.

Batting first Reliance amassed 204 runs for the loss of just 2 wickets. Zahir Shaikh and Rohit K. were the stars with the bat. They both shared a 150 runs stand for the second wicket. Zahir showed his class with 55 ball 79 while Rohit was more brutal with 48 ball 89 remaining unbeaten.

Zycus chase folded for a mere 79 runs giving Reliance a massive victory by 125 runs.

Reliance ADAG’s Amrut Shetye played another fine knock in the ongoing Dreamz 40 overs tournament.

Amrut opens the innings for Reliance. Batting first against Abhyudaya bank, Amrut was in his zone. He played a fine mixture of patience and aggression as wickets kept falling around him. He chose his bowlers to go after. He went after Yogesh T in the dying overs spoiling his average. He was taken for 88 runs in 8 overs. Amrut took just 112 balls for his 101 and carried his bat through. Reliance posted 218 in allotted 40 overs, pretty much gettable total.

Pradip kanchan played a good knock of 49 for Abhyudaya in the chase but it wasn’t enough as Abhyudaya folded for 181 handing a 37 run victory to Reliance. Sandeep took 3 wickets for Reliance.

It was Gagandeep’s day in the match between Transformers and Ontrack in the friends premier league. Ontrack team introduced Gagan to the bowling as the sixth bowler and he did wonders for Ontrack as Transformers innings derailed from 61 for 3 to 95 all out.

Batting first transformers were in a good position when they had their opener Vishal Bhatt was batting. But as soon as Vishal fell in the 10 th over and Gagandeep was introduced in bowling the whole complexion of the game changed. Gagandeep’s wiley bowling accounted for 5 of the next seven batsmen. His figures read 4 overs 13 runs and 5 wickets. Transformers innings got wrapped up in 17.1 over for just 95.

The chase was a mere formality and it was completed in the 14 th over with loss of just 4 wickets. Gagandeep was crowned Man of the Match.

Automotive recorded a sound win over Kotak Mahindra in the T40 Milan Memorial cricket tournament.

Shivam Gharat was the star of the match. Having put into bat first in bowling friendly conditions, Shivam showed sound technique as he negotiated the new ball and later attached the bowling. Automotive didn’t have a good start as they lost their opener Tejas for naught bringing Shivam early on the wicket. Shivam and Aamir played sensible partnership to see off the new ball. Shivam scored 72 off 98 balls. Chetan Dingra too played well later in the innings ensuring Automotive innings lasted for whole 40 overs. They managed a decent score of 192 runs. For Kotak, Vikarm took 3 wickets while Mayur accounted for 2.

Kotak’s top order collapsed completely against a decent attack. They lost 6 wickets for 41 runs before Bhavesh and Chandrashekhar stitched a good partnership for 7th wicket giving a glimmer of hope to Kotak. But their efforts were not enough. Once these 2 were accounted for Automotive ease to a good victory to start the new year with a win.

Dimension Data played Airtel on the National pitch at Cross Maidan in the Milan T20 Mega Corporate League.

Looking to take advantage of morning dew, Airtel chose to bowl first. Airtel bowlers bowled excellent line and lenghts taking advantage of conditions. Paul was exceptional as he took 2 wickets for 21 runs. Coming into bowl late in the innings Ravi too bowled excellent spell picking up 3 for 20. Dimension Data top order batsmen got their eyes in but couldnt materialize and that hurt them in the end as they could post an average total of 136 runs. Saurabh scored run-a-ball 35 while Sukhjit provided late spike with 15-ball-25.

Airtel got off to a disastrous start, loosing both the openers for duck. In fact at one point the scoreboard read 0.5 overs, 4 runs and 3 wickets. While Mayank and Ravi got out on golden duck, Vishal lasted for 2 balls. Harish Kadam accounted for all 3 wickets. Dimension sniffed victory but it was too early.

Prakash Aswan didn’t let the wickets affect him and played with a positive mindset. He attacked all bowlers scoring a quick fire 59 off just 28 deliveries to see his side through. He was very well supported by Sharad and Mayur. Sharad too had his day as he scored 37 off just 18 deliveries.
