Morarji Cricket Club, a cricket club based in Powai, Mumbai has been organizing a Blood Donation Camp for the last 5 years and donating blood ONLY to government run hospitals. Its not very often one would come across a cricket club involved in such social activities and so CricketGraph.com team thought of covering it for the benefit of cricket community .

Last year in 2015, the blood camp by Morarji Cricket Club collected around 375 bottles. These bottles are usually donated to government run hospitals in Mumbai like Rajawadi, Sion Hospital, Wadia, K.E.M and St. George hospitals.

Blood Camp is scheduled on 16th October 2016 at IIT Main Gate, powai and starts around 7AM TILL 5 PM.  The participation number is expected to grow exponential ly this year.

Vikas Satam is a big name in Navi Mumbai when it comes to cricket coaching for boys and girls. A right handed batsman during his playing days, the 42 year old, today is a certified coach, having attended Level  O Coaches Course of Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and Level 1 Coaches Course of National Cricket Academy (NCA).

He has been working for NMMC (Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation) Sports Training Centre as a coach from 2010. Satam has also been associated with I.E.S. Navi Mumbai High School, Vashi as Cricket Coach for girls and boys from 2004 till date. He has also extended his services to Navi Mumbai Centre, which is one of the MCA centres from 2006. Recently he has started coaching U-14 boys in Navi Mumbai Centre, which is a part of MCA’s summer coaching camp. He has also played some administrative roles at different levels. Satam was a part of MCA’s Sub Committee; International Match Organising Committee (IMOC) from 2011 to 2013 and was the Venue Co-ordinator for Under-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy (West Zone) in 2015. Currently he is in the Special Committee for Suburban Cricket (Eastern Region) for the years 2015 – 2017.

Outside of cricket, Vikas Satam has been a phenomenal individual and a tremendous asset to the society. Satam has won couple of awards; National Award for Bravery in 1987 (ICCW) and Talented Citizen Award in 1996 (NMMC), which indicate his worth in the society.

 

 

Esplande Liberal Cricket Club locked horns against Marwari Cricket Club on 21st August at Western Railway ground, Mumbai during the D division Kanga League match. Winning the toss and electing to field first, Esplanade bowled out Marwari for 129 in 42.1 overs. Right arm medium pace bowler Mayur Thakur shined with the ball picking up 5-22 in his nine overs, including two maidens. Mayur was exceptional with his line and length and reaped the sweet fruits of his hard work.

In the second innings, Esplande scored 144-6 taking a marginal lead of 15 runs. Opening bat Akshay Mazgaonkar (51) top scored with a magnificent half century to help his team put up a decent score on board. Mousique Merchant picked up 4-36 in 10.4 overs.

The match ended in a draw with Esplanade taking the first innings lead.

Winning the toss and electing to field first, Young Friends Cricket Club rattled United Friends Sports Club for a paltry 59 on 21st August in Mumbai during the D division Kanga League match. Yogesh Pujari top scored with 31 runs. Siddhesh Padwal took a five wicket haul and finished off with brilliant figures of 5-23. Aslam Sarguru accounted for 3-6.

Young Friends declared the second innings at 70-8 taking a lead of 11 runs. Ummatja Fouzan and Sanil Patil scored 23 runs each. Amir Shaikh was the pick of the bowlers for United Friends as he picked up 5-19.

In the third innings, United Friends declared at 68-9, thereby setting a target of 57 runs for Young Friends. Parag Jadhav grabbed 3-15. The match ended at 46-4 in favour of Young Friends.

It was a low scoring affair between the two teams. The match ended in a draw, with Young Friends Cricket Club taking the first innings lead.

Mumbai Ranji Trophy player Akhil Herwadkar’s all-round performance helped his team Payyade Sports Club to take the first innings lead against Fort Vijay Cricket Club on 21st August in Mumbai during the A division Kanga League match. Batting first, Fort Vijay was bundled out for a meagre 87. Rahul lad top scored with 34 runs. Mumbai player Harmeet Singh and Akhil Herwadkar were the wreckers-in-chief picking up 5-39 and 4-15 respectively. Both these players bowled well in tandem, not allowing the opposition to score freely.

In the second innings, Payyade declared at 123-3. Onkar Khanvilkar (48) and Akhil Herwadkar (45) played well and formed the back bone of their team’s batting. The match ended at 37-5 for Fort Vijay. The match ended in a draw with Payyade taking the first innings lead.

Winning the toss and electing to field first, New Hindu Cricket Club bundled out Young Men’s Cricket Club for a paltry 47 in 21.1 overs on 21st August during the E division Kanga League match between the two teams that was played at Azad Maidan, Mumbai. Parth Mehta was phenomenal with the ball as he picked up 6-9 in six overs. Parth maintained consistency in his line and length and was duly rewarded.

In the second innings, New Hindu Cricket Club declared at 132-2, taking a healthy lead of 85 runs. In that Pratik Patil hit 49 runs in just 42 balls with help of 6 fours and 1 six and another player who perform with bat is Dipesh Golam he has ton 58 runs in just 49 balls with help 6 fours and 2 six.  Young Men’s Cricket Club put up a better show in the third innings scoring 104-9, thanks to Jatin Gharat (38) and Kashish Jain (32). Chetan Jaiswal shined with the ball for New Hind Cricket Club grabbing 4-29.

The match ended in a draw, with New Hindu Cricket Club taking the first innings lead.
