It was the all important semi-final match between two strong sides namely Fort Vijay & M.I.G Cricket Club in Mumbai. Fort Vijay who have a good batting line-up elected to bat first and post a big total on the board to put the opposition under pressure.

Sagar Udeshi (Fort Vijay CC Team) 5 wkts
Sagar Udeshi (Fort Vijay CC Team) 4 wkts

Batting first, Fort Vijay could have batted more nicely considering their strong batting line up but eventually they were all out for 237/10 in 67.2 overs. Pankaj jaiswal was the pick of the batsman scoring a solid century for Fort Vijay. It was surely a match-winning knock which pushed their team total to 247 or they would have been all-out for a much lesser total. Pankaj was the leading scorer with 107 followed by 46 & 30 by Rahul Lad & Sanket Bhaye. The bowlers did a fairly good job with the ball by restricting them below 250 which is a good score to chase. Nikhil Date was the pick of the bowlers for M.I.G with bowling figures of 3/54.

M.I.G Cricket club bowled well but it was not the same case when it came to their batting as they were bundled out for just 107 runs. Once again the spin duo of Farhan Kazi and Sagar Udeshi did the job for their team. Both these bowlers together have almost become a pair like Harbhajan-kumble or Jadeja-Ashwin bowling together in tandem for their team. Left-arm leg-spinner Sagar Udeshi took 4/37 followed by 3/35 by Farhan Kazi which completely cleaned up the MIG batting line up.

Fort Vijay CC won the semi-finals by 130 runs & Cricketgraph congratulates the whole team & especially Pankaj, Sagar & Farhan for their exceptional performance. We also wish that they continue their good form & go on to win the tournament.

Semi-finals are always nail-biting where both the teams have to give their best and such was the case between D.Y Patil & Parkophene Cricketers at the D.Y Patil Ground in Mumbai. D.Y Patil won the toss and elected to bat first since they have a very strong depth in their batting to make a big 1st innings score.

The powerful batting line-up of D.Y Patil lived up to their expectations and managed to score 350/10 in 60.2 overs. Their star batsman Shreyas Iyer once again showed his class & mettle as he fell just 4 runs short of a wonderful double century. Right-handed Shreyas Iyer scored a mammoth 196 which was nothing short of flawless & full of class. Iyer kept on piling runs from the other end though wickets were tumbling from the other side. He smashed bowlers at will and hardly looked deterred by any bowlers. Anand Bias & Subramaniam also contributed nicely with the bat scoring 66 & 44 respectively. The bowlers could have done a better job but it was particularly good bowling by Deepak Shetty & Vishal Dabholkar who picked up 4/66 & 4/129 respectively.

Chasing 351 against a big team like D.Y in semi-finals is always tough & Parkophene Cricketers did appear to succumb to that pressure as they were all out for just 238 runs in 60.4 overs. Prasad Pawar (57) , Onkar Khanvilkar (45) and Sufiyan (33) batted well but there was no support from the other end. All-rounder Abhishek Nayar shined with the ball taking 4/106 followed by 3 wkts each for Prashant Bhoir & Karsh Kothari. It was a collectively superb bowling contribution too which helped them win the crucial semis.

D.Y Patil Sports Academy won the match by 112 runs & thanks to a wonderful ton by Shreyas Iyer & some good bowling by Abhishek, Prashant & Karsh which made things easier. Looking at their current performance, they will surely be a tough nut to crack for the opposition in the finals.

It was the all-important finals of the Bhaskar Trophy Under 12 Boys Cricket Tournament 2017 between Rizvi Sports Club & Ours Cricket Club at the Police Gymkhana Ground, Mumbai. Rizvi who won the toss elected to bat first since they have a strong batting line up.

Rizvi could have scored more considering their strong batting line-up but still only managed to reach a defendable 185/6 in 35 overs. Right-handed Mohit Tanwar lived up to the expectations at such a crucial juncture of the tournament & smashed his 3rd half century of the tournament. Mohit Tanwar scored a solid 70 (6 fours and good running between the wickets) at the top of the order which saved his team from getting out for a low total. He was also nicely supported by Umar Khan who scored an unbeaten 51* which played an equally crucial role in their innings. Both these batsman looked confident & were hardly deterred by the pressure of the finals. The OCC (Ours cricket club) did a fairly good job with the ball & succeeded in containing them to a low total.

Chasing 186 is not the toughest but Rizvi is a string team which has an equally good bowling line-up. Rizvi bowlers did a fantastic job with the ball & bundled out the opposition for just 78 runs in 25.3 overs. Ayush Vartak was the only one with a respectable score of 38. The rizvi spinners did a great job with the ball as the off-break trio of Varun, Umar Khan & Mohit Tanwar picket up 5 wkts together with 2 wkts each for Umar and Varun.

Rizvi won the finals by 107 runs and lift the trophy of the late Bhaskar Tournament. Mohit was adjudged ‘man of the match’ for his all-round perfomance as well as man of the series for scoring 256 runs in the tournament (94, 65, DNB, 27 &70) & also picking up 8 wkts in the series. The young lad was given a voucher worth 2k along with 1000 cash prize for his man of the match award.

This kid has a long way to go & is certainly made for big things in cricket. Cricketgraph congratulates Mohit, Umar & the whole team for their great performance and wishes them to keep playing good cricket.

Batting first, Opener Shailendra scored a 41 at the top of the order but took 63 balls to make it. The rest of the batsmen from the other end were not able to fire with the 2nd highest scorer being their skipper Rahul who scored a 22. It was some amazing performance from the bowlers and especially their spinners which restricted them to a low total of just 112 /9in 20 overs. Left-arm spinner Priyesh Raimangiya was the pick of the bowlers for JB Tech as he scalped 3/9 in his 4 overs. It was a spell where he not only contained the batsman but also took full control of them by taking wickets at the right moments. Captain Nikhil Dewan & Abhishek tripathy also supported well taking a wicket each for their team.

Chasing 113 is a cakewalk for most of the sides & such was the case with JB Tech too as they finished the game in just 15.2 overs and won by 9 wkts. Semi-finals are always tough & exciting and so was this match between DTDC & Automotive at the DPZ Ground, Matunga.  DTDC who have a strong batting line up elected to bat first after winning the toss in order to make a competitive score on the board & make the most of the conditions.

Sumit Sharma (DTDC Team) 48 runs and 1 wkt
Sumeet Sharma (DTDC Team) 48 runs and 1 wkt

However, things were not as hunky dory for DTDC like they may have expected as they were all out for just 179 runs in 42.3 overs. Left-handed Sumeet Sharma & Gangadhar Ingole were the only two who looked good against the Automotive bowlers. Sumeet Sharma scored a solid 48 while Ingole scored a brisk 37 which took their team total to a somewhat respectable position of 178. Automotive bowlers did a good job with the ball & managed to take wickets & break partnerships consistently. They also hardly leaked away runs which proved to be beneficial for them.

Chasing 179, Automotive did not displayed the best of batting as much as they did with the ball. Team Automotive was all out for 175 falling short of just 3 runs. DTDC fought back well & did an excellent job with the ball especially their leg-spinner Virendra Yadav who bowled a mesmerizing spell of 5/23 to dismantle the opposition. Yadav kept on breaking partnerships & also took wickets at the right time. The situation got so intense that 3 runs were needed of the last 2 overs & one wicket was left. However, Sumeet Sharma bowled well & took the last wicket to win the semi-finals. It was a match which took our breath away till the end but eventually DTDC won the match by 3 runs.

Virendra Yadav was adjudged ‘man of the match’ for his brilliant performance & Cricketgraph wishes him & the whole team all the luck to win the finals of the tournament too.

Prakash Patil was the pick of the bowlers with bowling figures of 2/27 in 4 overs followed by a wicket each for Amit, Aakash & Shubham. The bowlers did a decent job but could have tried restricting them to a score of 150 to make it easier to chase.

Chasing 167 in 20overs & that too in the semi-finals where there is an added pressure is always tough but Rika Global did a terrific job as they won the match by 5 wkts and 2.4 overs to spare. Opener Aakash Patil gave us a déjà vu of Afridi & Maxwell as he smashed a blazing 75 coming in no time. Right-handed Aakash Patil scored 75 off just 29 balls and smashed 12 stunning boundaries & 2 big sixes in his counter-attacking knock. Aakash played at a strike rate of almost 260 & almost sealed the match single-handedly. R Amit who came in at no.7 also played a fine knock of 42* coming off just 26 balls to steer his team to a comfortable victory. However, Nirlon batsman did a good job with the bat & managed to post 167 runs on the board in 20 overs. Atish Walinjkar & Sagar Mishra were the pick of the bowlers taking 2/22 & 2/38 respectively.

Chasing 168, Western Railways managed to bat well but fell short of 18 runs in the end. It was also some good display of bowling by the Nirlon boys which restricted them from chasing the score. Right-arm medium pacer Karan Nandey who had scored a quick 20 also chipped in with bowling figures of 2/20 in 4 overs followed by 2 wkts each for Ankit revandkar, Ankur Singh & Gaurav Bengre.

It was the all-important quarter finals of the Milan T20 Tournament at Cross Maidan, Mumbai between Welspun & Nomura. Team Nomura won the toss & elected to bat first. The decision to bat first may have not affected welspun in a big way as they have a strong bowling line up to restrict any opposition.

Batting first, Nomura were not off to the best of the starts as opener Ajinkya was out for a duck. However the other opener Pratik did bring some hope scoring a 36 off 28 balls (5 fours,1six) but the rest of the batsman below him could not convert their good starts. Some late revival by no.5 & 6 down the order helped them save from getting bundled out for a low total as Jeet Gohil scored a fighting 39 off just 26 balls supported by Kawaldeep Singh’s 20ball 27. Right-arm off spinner Chinmay and Siddarth Pujara bowled well taking 2/28 & 2/23 respectively. It was a good bowling performance and the rest of the bowlers also did their job in containing the batsman. Eventually Nomura managed to score 137/9 in 20 overs which wasn’t the toughest of totals to chase especially in the quarter-finals.

However chasing 138, Nomura gave a really tough fight and almost compensated for their ‘okay’ batting by bowling nicely. Welspun won the match but it was not before a tough fight given by Nomura as Welspun won by just 2 wkts & 7 balls to spare. Right-handed opener Manish Ambavane played a masterclass knock of 74 at a time when batsman from the other end were continuously throwing away their wickets. Manish Scored a stunning 54 ball 74 which included 10 fours and a big six & remained almost till the end before he got out in the 18th over but he had already done his job before getting out as he helped his side to win the quarter-finals. If he wouldn’t have scored, the results could have been surely different. Pratik Ahluwalia & Ajinkya Patil were the pick of the bowlers with respective bowling figures of 3/24 & 2/19 followed by 2 wkts for Rohit in his one over.

It was a great match where both the teams gave their best & opener Manish Ambavane was adjudged ‘man of the match’ for his superb knock. Cricketgraph congratulates Manish & the whole team & wishes them to go on and win the tournament.

It was the all important finals between VFCL & Chintamani at the Yashwant Nagar Cricket ground in Virar. Team Chintamani won the toss & elected to field first in order to restrict VFCL to a low total and put them under pressure.

The decision of fielding first did reap rewards for them as they managed to restrict VFCL for just 112/9 in 20 overs. Bhadresh (17 off 34), Virat Mishra (22 off 15) & Arun Shetty (22 off 15) were the only 3 who managed to score in two figures as rest of the batting line up crumbled. The bowlers did a good job in containing the batsman and also taking wickets at the right time. Vijay Singh was the pick of the bowlers with bowling figures of 3/17 in 4 overs followed by 2/18 & 2/14 by Ajay Singh & Amar Mehta. It was a good job by the bowlers & hardly did they give any loose deliveries for the batsman to score.

Mandar Nalawade (Chintamani Team) 38 runs in 38 balls
Mandar Nalawade (Chintamani Team) 38 runs in 38 balls

A target of 113 is not the biggest to chase and especially when it’s the finals of the tournament. Team Chintamani batsman chased the score in style & won the match by 7 wickets & 3.2 overs to spare. It was a shaky start by the top 3 batsman but Mandar Nalavade smashed an aggressive 38 ball 38* to finish the chase for his team in style. Right-handed Mandar remained unbeaten and finished the game in just 16.4 overs for Chintamani. He also got able support from Lokesh Patni who remained unbeaten with 22* off just 16 balls. Paras Shah was the pick of the bowlers taking 2/18 while quickie Virat Mishra also took a wicket.

Chintamani won the finals of the tournament and it was a great team performance & good batting by Mandar who was adjudged ‘man of the match’ for his 38 ball 38* . Cricketgraph congratulates the entire team for their amazing win & wishes that their good form continues for a long long time.
