It was a match at Bandra BKC between two promising young teams namely Mumbai vs Saurashtra where in Mumbai won the toss and rightly elected to field first considering the bowler friendly conditions.
Batting first, Saurashtra boys scored a decent 208/8 in 43 overs and a major credit for this total should go to their opener Tarang Gohel. Tarah smashed more than half of the team runs and brought up his century in just 60balls impressing one and all with the bat. Tarang scored 100 off 60balls (14fours and 5sixes) while H. Desai also chipped in with a useful 49 at no.4. Abhumanyu Vasishta was the pick of the bowlers taking 3/46 followed by 2wkts for tanush kotian.
Chasing 209 on a wet bowler friendly track is always a confusing situation but openers Karan Shah and Divyansh Saxena gave an excellent opening start. Left-handed Karan Shah scored a brutal 24ball 68 (11fours, 3sixes) which completely led the game slip away from Saurashtra’s hand. Karan attacked the bowlers with complete domination while Divyansh gave him good support as he remained unbeaten till the end scoring 69* off 83balls. Yashaswi scored 34 while all-rounder Tanush remained unbeaten with Divyansh on 28*(28b). Mumbai chased down the score in just 32.4 overs and won the match in style by 8wkts. Mumbai won the match comfortably but it was Karan’s swashbuckling 24ball 68 and Tarang’s 60ball 100 which remained the highlight perfomance of the match.

Young opener Divyansh Saxena has impressed one and all in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy as he has scored two really solid half centuries in the two matches he has played. Not only has he displayed a lot of calm and a cool head, he has also shown that he can bat long and till the end.

In the 1st match against Baroda, Mumbai were all out for just 143 in 35.4 overs. Hardly any batsman managed to create any impact but it was Divyansh who scored a well crafted 77 off 96balls (8fours1six) under pressure situation. Even though his 77 ended on a losing cause but he definitely grabbed everyone’s attention. In the 2nd match which followed, Divyansh stitched a match winning opening partnership with Karan Shah and scored an unbeaten 69* off 83balls to steer his team to a thumping 8wkt win against Saurashtra.
Divansh’s timing the ball really well and his temperament is commendable as he does not tries to hit every ball out of the park, rather he tries to settle in and play till the end which is a very good quality. It has been a great start to the season for Divyansh who averages 146 in the two games he has played so far. Cricketgraph wishes him that his form with the willow continues and he keeps on progressing in cricket.
