Smollan India administered a hiding to CGI Solutions at a subdued Sydenham, Oval Maidan, set on their path by excellent spells from Sujay Lotankar and Rahul before Salim and Sujay Lotankar shepherded the chase. Having struck twice inside the Powerplay, the Smollan India continued to chip away at the CGI order. Only during a 41-ball 33 from their No. 3 Shivam did the CGI innings gain a measure of steam. It was enough to lift them to 127 after they had ambled along at around a run a ball for much of the innings.

CGI Solutions won the toss and elected to bat first. But the CGI Solutions wheezed through the rest of their innings, finishing with 127 for 7 in 20 overs. At 84 for 3 in the 13th, the CGI tail scrapped their way to 127 as Shivam grinded out a top score of 33 off 41 balls. But the paltry total was never going to be enough and Smollan India soon made a mockery of the chase. The spoils were shared around, with four different bowlers claiming a wicket, and Sujay Lotankar claiming a brace to finish with figures of 4 for 21 including three wickets.

The S.H.M Ulhasnagar easily accounted for the FCC Sunrisers in Asahi Glass Cricket Ground Taloja, after a destructive first innings opening spell followed by a controlled hand from Kishore Khubchandani and Sanjay condemned the Sunrisers to their poorest start in Friendship Trophy 2019. Sent in after losing the flip, and at one stage slumping to 4 for 26, the FCC Sunrisers huffed and puffed and spluttered their way to 9 for 121 from their 20 overs. At no point were the Sunrisers able to impose their will on the S.H.M Ulhasnagar bowlers.

FCC Sunrisers stumbled to 49 for 5 at the halfway mark after electing to bat. There was no looking back after that, even though Deepak Gaikwad fought through to top score with 36. Five batsmen recorded single-digit scores, with the highest partnership being 23 for the fifth wicket between Deepak Gaikwad and Vishal. Sunrisers’ right-arm leg breaker, Amol S, took 3 off 22 in four overs.

Player of the Match, Kishore Khubchandani top scored with a 15-ball 31* courtesy five boundaries, including two fours, three sixes, and strike rate of 206. S.H.M Ulhasnagar lost Manish in the third over, but found contributors in Deepak Wadhwani (c) and Kishore Khubchandani as they romped home comfortably to complete a sweep. In the end, S.H.M Ulhasnagar won by 4 wickets with four overs remaining.

Santosh Sports Cricket Academy after opting to bat first posted a total of 72/7 in 20 overs. The batters were not able to match the run rate required for a T20 match as they had batswomen chipping in with starts but lacked someone who could come up with a big score. All-rounder Ishita Bhosle came up with an economical spell conceding only 9 runs in her spell of 4 overs alongwith 2 wkts. Shrushti with 2/19 in 4 overs was also impressive.

Chasing 73 runs was a mere formality for Sri Ma Vidyalaya girls as they chased down the total in mere 8.3 overs. Opener Mahek (23*) and Ishita coming at no.3 scored an unbeaten 38* off just 29 balls (6 fours) anchoring her team through a smooth win.

Fifties from three of the top five batsmen set up CCD’s total of 222 for 5 after they chose to bat first.

Then it was all Vasu Mhatre, the right-arm off spinner picking up a 3 for 14 in three overs, haul to help bowl Maersk C.C. out for 67 in 16 overs. A bad start quickly turned ugly for Maersk.
