Souvenir CC spinner Asif Shaikh grabbed a hat-trick to spin his team to a eight-wicket win against P.J. Hindu Gymkhana in a semi-final match of the 70th Nawab Salar Jung Invitation T20 Cricket Tournament 2019
Mumbai, April 26: Talented left-arm spinner Asif Shaikh stole the thunder claiming a timely hat-trick to inspire Souvenir Cricket Club register a comprehensive eight-wicket victory against P.J. Hindu Gymkhana in the first semi-final match of the 70th Nawab Salar Jung Invitation T20 Cricket Tournament 2019 and played at the Parsee Gymkhana ground on Friday.
Hindu Gym who were put in to bat scored 129 for 7 wickets in 20 overs and Souvenir CC easily scored 130 for 2 wickets in 12.1 overs.
In the second semi-final, defending champions Parsee Gymkhana charged to a nine-wicket win against Apollo CC and seal their place in the final against Souvenir CC at the Islam Gymkhana on Saturday morning.

Parsee Gym after deciding to field first restricted Apollo CC to 125 for 6 wickets in 20 overs. Siddhanth Singh 43 runs, Rahil Shaikh 35 runs and Siddharth Ghule 25 runs contributed to the Apollo innings, while Parsee Gym bowlers Shams Mulani 3 for 18 and Shivam Malhotra 2 for 35 shared the wickets. In reply, Parsee Gymkhana lost opener Akarshit Gomel for a first ball duck, but captain and one drop batsman Aditya Tare 74 runs (49b, 10×4, 3×6) and the other opener Ashay Sardesai 51 runs (38b, 9×4) stitched together an unbeaten 126 run partnership to steer Parsee Gym to victory.

Earlier, the upcoming Asif was disciplined and bowled a tidy spell and was rewarded with three consecutive from the final three balls of the innings to finish with figures of 3 for 19 runs from his four overs. His brilliant efforts haled Souvenir restrict Hindu Gymkhana to 129 for 7 wickets from their quota of 20 overs.
Thanks to left-hander Megh Adhvaryu solid knock of 82 runs, Hindu Gym were tottering at 129 for four wickets at the end of the 19th over. But, they were unable to add to the total from the final over bowled by Asif, who picked up three successive wickets and with all the victims falling for ducks. He first clean bowled Hussain Raza with the fourth ball of the 20th over and then with his teasing line and length foxed Dhruv Vagasia and Aman Maniyar getting them to charge out and leaving wicket-keeper Sachin Yadav to complete the stumping and close the Hindu Gym innings.

In reply, Souvenir batted steadily and comfortably reached the winning target of 130 runs losing just 2 wickets in 12.1 overs. Openers Swapnil Salvi 33 runs and Usaid Cutlerywala 32 runs put together 49 runs for the first wicket and later Usaid and Sachin Yadav 54 runs added a further 48 runs for the second wicket which helped them to safely cross the finish line and a place in Saturday’s final.

2nd Semi Final Match – Apollo CC 125 for 6 wickets in 20 overs (Siddhanth Singh 43 (45b, 4×4, 1×6), Rahil Shaikh 35 (32b, 3×4, 1×6); Siddharth Ghule 25; Shams Mulani 3 for 18, Shivam Malhotra 2 for 35) lost to Parsee Gymkhana 126 for 1 wicket in 14.4 overs (Aditya Tare 74 (49b, 10×4, 3×6), Ashay Sardesai 51 (38b, 9×4) by 9 wickets.
Aarey CC after being put to bat first posted a decent total of 235/2 in 42.3 overs. Padmanabhan C was the highest scorer hitting a solid 64 while Vishal Jadhav (44) and Saiel Surve (36) chipped in with cameos. From Young Social CC, Karthikeyan Pal with 4/16 was the pick of the bowlers.
Chasing 236, Young Social Cricket Club were bundled out for just 81 runs in 29 overs. Chaitanya Bhoir came up with a sensational spell taking 5/10 in 9 overs with 4 maidens running through the batting line up of opposition with ease. Chaitanya was spot on with the ball picking up wickets at regular intervals and not allowing any batsman to settle.
Aarey CC eventually won the match by 174 runs while it was Chaitanya’s bowling spell which remained the highlight performance of the match.
Trafigura stomped all over Deutsche Bank (IWE) to register a two-wicket victory in a match of Inbox Woods Corporate T20 Championship 2019, organised by Inbox Woods Events & Entertainment and played at Venus Sports Academy, Goregaon West, Mumbai on 21st April.
Put in to bat, after the dismissals of their two leading batsmen, Deutsche Bank needed another member of the top order to step into the breach, and Sudhakar held the innings together with his fifty. Now they were looking for a favorable partnership, then Sudhakar and Vishal produced a 54 run third wicket partnership. Sudhakar and Perin also produced 73 run fourth wicket partnership. Sudhakar’s impressive fifty of the competition glued Deutsche Bank’s innings together, but their 156 for 6 didn’t look like enough to challenge the Trafigura.


However, Pawanish Seth spearheaded a spirited defence with two wickets in his second over, and at the end of the Powerplay, Trafigura were floundering at 46 for 3. Dhaval and Prasan produced a 85 run strong partnership for fourth wicket. Dhaval finished on 49 off 35 balls with eight fours. Trafigura finished with 160 for 8 in 20 overs. Dhaval Mehta of Trafigura Global Team won the ‘Man of the Match’ title.

Earlier that day, Ravi Shinde’s monstered 48 off 26 powered Axis Bank to a seven-wicker victory against Sony Pictures Networks in a match of same tournament. Put in to bat, Sony had made just 155 for 6 in 20 overs. Manoj was the best pick of the Axis Bank. In reply, Axis were at 158 for 3 after 18th over. Axis Bank won the match by 7 wickets. Where as, Pratik Patil of Sony Pictures Networks won the ‘Man of the Match’ title.

Saurav Tendulkar, opener batsman of WNS B, provided the steady start, and built an outstanding platform. A target of 137 always seemed easy for WNS. Sourav’s 54 off 55 powered them to a eight wicket respective victory against Ernst & Young in a match of the Dreamz Champions Trophy – Elite White Ball 2018-19, organized by Dreamz Sports and Events and played at the ELF, Oval Maidan, Churchgate, Mumbai on 20th April.


Put in to bat, Ernst & Young had made decent 136 for 9 in 20 overs. They face difficulty in negotiating the rival bowling attack and scored runs hardly and they amassed a low total. While, they were keep losing the wickets without any favourable partnership. Saurabh and Hitesh produced a 40 run partnership for the last wicket.
While chasing, WNS B lost the first wicket in very first over. And then they lost the second wicket after a strong partnership of 80 runs. Saurav Tendulkar made the most significant contribution, scoring the half-century of his career. Tendulkar and Garude responded with a 80-run second wicket stand to put WNS in the driver’s seat. Previously, WNS B won by seven-wicket against Mahindra Group because of Rahul Kirodian.
Rahul Kirodian of WNS B won the ‘Man-of-the-Match’ title. He claimed 5 for 18 from his four overs. He struck twice in his second and third over. He also took 4 wickets against Mahindra Group last week. Terrific performance!
Earlier that day, Sagar Chemburkar’s monstered 61 off 36 powered Citi Bank to a eight-wicket victory against CexWeBuy in a match of same tournament. Put in to bat, CexWebuy had made just 128 for 6 in 20 overs. Bhavik was the best pick of the Citi Bank. In reply, Citi were at 129 for 2 by the start of 15th over. Citi Bank won the match by 8 wickets. Sagar Chemburkar of Citi Bank won the ‘Man of the Match’ title.

Sportsmen CC (Kalyan) after opting to bat first at the National CC, Cross Maidan posted a total of 268/10 in 45 overs which is quite a healthy total to defend. Opening the innings, Omkar played a brilliant knock of 97 runs in 100 balls which had 11 fours and 2 sixes. Omkar kept the scoreboard ticking playing at a healthy strike rate as the rest of the batsman chipped in around him. From Apollo, Anirudh Patil with 4/33 was the pick of the bowlers.
Apollo Youngsters lacked batsman who could convert their scores into something substantial apart from Amit Jaiswal who scored a gritty 67 as the team got bundled out for 189 runs. Sportsmen CC won the match by 71 runs and it was Omkar Khot whose 97 runs and one wicket remained the highlight performance in the match.
The in-form Anil Bhalala produced the more blistering innings. Anil Bhalala, opener batsman of Trafigura, provided the super fast start, and built an outstanding platform. A target of 161 always seemed easy for Trafigura. Anil Bhalala’s 113 off just 53 powered them to a nine wicket respective victory against HDFC Ergo in a match of the Dreamz Champions Trophy Regular White Ball 2018-19, organized by Dreamz Sports and played at the Oval Maidan, Churchgate, Mumbai on 20th April.
Put in to bat, HDFC had made decent 160 for 6 in 20 overs. They face difficulty in negotiating the rival bowling attack and scored runs hardly and they amassed a low total. While, they were keep losing the wickets without any favourable partnership. Shardeep and Nitin were good at the pitch, and they also produced a strong 110 run partnership for the sixth wicket. Sabin and Vijay struck twice for Trafigura.
While chasing, Trafigura lost the first wicket after a strong partnership of 97 runs. Anil Bhalala made the most significant contribution, scoring the another century of his career. Anil Bhalala and Anis responded with a 97-run first wicket stand to put Trafigura in the driver’s seat.
Anil Bhalala of Trafigura won the ‘Man-of-the-Match’ title. He smashed stormy 113 off 53 balls, including nine fours and nine sixes. This performance was full of energy and strong dedication. He also scored a century against Clear Trip last week. Good days for him!

Mumbai, April 25: Ordnance Factory Sports Cub rode on the all-round efforts of Parag Patil (2 for 10 runs and 21 runs) to record a comfortable 7-wicket victory against Mahindra & Mahindra Limited in a quarter-final match of the Air India Invitation T20 tournament organized by Air India Western Region and played at the Air India ground, Kalina on Thursday.
Mahindras were restricted to 85 for 9 wickets in 16 overs. Rishikesh Kolvankar scored an unbeaten 26 runs while Ordnance bowlers Pushkar Jat (3 for 12), Parag Patil (2 for 10) and Tribuvan Nayak (2/12) shared the spoils. Ordnance easily chased down the target scoring 86 runs for the loss of just 3 wickets in 15 overs. Patil scored 21 runs while Jitendra Mandawkar picked up 2 wickets for 17 runs.

Shahpur Spencer CC after opting to bat first at the Cross Maidan were in for a shock after getting all out for mere 26 runs in 20 overs. Shapur’s innings witnessed 4 batsmen getting out on ducks with 8 runs being the highest individual score. Left-Arm spinner Deven Dhruv bowled a mesmerizing spell of 4 wkts for 3 runs in 5 overs which also had 3 maidens. On the other hand, Rachit Shah who bowls medium pace was equally effective scalping 4 wkts for mere 9 runs in his spell of 5 overs as both the bowlers made life miserable for the batsman.

In what was an easy chase for obvious reasons, Patan CC took mere 2.4 overs to finish the game and win the match by 10 wkts.
Mumbai, April 25: Defending champions Parsee Gymkhana charged to a resounding 129 runs victory against Bombay Gymkhana in a quarter-final match of the 70th Nawab Salar Jung Invitation T20 Cricket Tournament 2019 and played at the Parsee Gymkhana ground on Thursday.
Electing to bat first Parsee Gymkhana powered by some brilliant batting from Shams Mulani 85 runs not out (41b, 1×4, 3×6), Akarshit Gomel 49 runs (38b, 4×4, 1×6) and Raunaq Sharma 47 runs (22b, 6×4, 2×6) piled up a huge total of 228 for 4 wickets in 20 overs. Later the Parsee Gymkhana bowlers dismissed Bombay Gymkhana for a paltry 99 runs in 19.2 overs. Except for Abhishek Srivastav 42 runs (24b, 4×4, 1×6) none of the other batsmen got going. Raunaq Sharma (2 for 2), Atif Attarwala (2 for 13), Aditya Dhumal (2 for 18), Mainuddin Mulani (2 for 20) and Anjadeep Lad (2/26) shared the wickets.


Later in another quarter match, Apollo Cricket Club held their nerves to snatch a close one run win against Mumbai Police Gymkhana.
Put in to bat first, Apollo CC managed to put up a challenging total of 171 for the loss of six wickets from their 20 overs. Siddhanth Singh with an unbeaten knock of 74 runs top-scored, while Abhinav Jagtap 35 runs and Sairaj Sangle 25 runs made useful contributions. Umar Khan (4 for 24) was the successful Mumbai Police bowler.

In reply, Mumbai Police made a determined start as the openers Arsalan Oberoi 45 runs (48b, 5×4) and Arman Shaikh 47 runs (37b, 4×4, 1×6) gave the policemen the perfect platform with a 90-run partnership for the first wicket. But the other batsmen were unable to maintain the momentum and the run-rate to consolidate their position. Apollo CC bowlers were disciplined and backed by some excellent fielding managed to clinch a win by a whisker and advance to the semi-finals.
Souvenir CC will meet Hindu Gymkhana In the first semi-final at the Islam Gymkhana on Friday morning and later in the afternoon Apollo CC will challenge Parsee Gym in the second semi-final.

Sagar Kamble’s 63 off 46 and Prathamesh’s 3 for 26 powered L&T Technology Ltd to a 8 wicket easy victory against HP India Sales Pvt Ltd in a match of the Jolly Friends Sports Matunga League 2nd Edition 2018-19 played at the Dadar Parsi Zorastrian Cricket Ground Matunga, Mumbai on 20th April.
HP India Sale won the toss and elected to bat first. After losing their first wicket on the second ball of the match, they produced a good 50-run partnership for the second wicket. Last two overs of this inning went extremely bad for them. They lost three wickets in last two overs. Mukesh Poojary scored unbeaten 60 off 39, including eight fours and a single six. From 60 for 3 in 9 overs, they had made 139 for 8 in 20 overs.
L&T Technology Service Ltd began the chase with a 28-run opening stand in 14 balls and 104-run huge second wicket partnership in 64 balls. And they lost the third wicket in 14th over. The HP India managed to strike a few blows late in the chase but the total they had put up wasn’t big enough to give L&T Technology a scare. Sagar Kamble finished on 63 off 46 balls with ten fours. L&T Technology finished with 140 for 3 in 13.5 overs. Sagar Kamble also won the ‘Man of the Match’ title.
