Goregaon Center opting to bat first at Shivaji Park could have been all out for under 120-130 odd runs had it not been their solid opener Pranjal Gurav coming to the fore. Opening the innings Pranjal went on to score a match winning knock of 95 runs in 97 balls laced with 9 boundaries while she got excellent support from Somya (42) with whom she stitched 154 run stand for the 2nd wicket pushing Goregaon Center to 236/6 in 36 overs.

Dombivali Center in reply were bundled out for 92 runs 36.2 overs as Goregaon Center bowlers proved to be too difficult to cope with. Amruta Parab (3/11) and Anikat (3/15) were the pick of the bowlers while Prerna More was also impressive with 2/6 in 5 overs and 3 maidens as Goregaon Center went on to win the match by 144 runs.

25th May 2019, was the day of the final of the T20 Masters Cup organized by One World of Sports. Welspun Corp were going head to head with HDFC Bank Xl for the title at the Vengsarkar Academy in Mehul. HDFC were unbeaten in the tournament winning 4 games to reach the final.

Welspun won the toss and opted to bowl first. HDFC Bank made a good start to their innings with captain Amey Bothare scoring 33 runs. Nishit Dhulap was the star with the bat as he scored a fine 59 of 45 balls. During the final overs of the innings , Prasanna Shetty unleashed on the Welspun bowlers. Nick named ‘Bahubali’, Prassana thrashed the bowlers all over the park and made a quickfire 47 of just 24 balls to get HDFC Bank to a daunting total of 185/6 at the end of 20 overs. For Welspun, Rohit Shinde took 2/32 runs while Nilesh Kalamhe took 3/21.

Chasing a total of 186 to win a final was never going to be easy and the Welspun batsman never got going. Vijay Vishwakarma managed a run a ball 27, while V Shinde and Rohit Shinde stayed not out for 32 and 30 runs respectively , but couldn’t guide Welspun towards the victory. At the end of 20 overs Welspun could only manage 148 for the loss of 7 wickets. Ninad Kadam was the star with the ball for HDFC Bank as he took 3 wickets for 20. He was well supported by Gorivale who bowled an economical spell of 1/20.

HDFC Bank Xl won the final by 37 runs and were the champions of T20 Masters Cup (Purple). Nishit Dhulap was the Man of the Match for his fine half century.

Sri Ma Vidyalya School opting to bat first at the SPCA ground in the all important finals posted a healthy total of 149/6 in 20 overs. Opener Sanika Chalke despite the lack of support from the other end played her natural game hitting an aggressive 70 off mere 47 balls. An impressive innings which included 13 boundaries pushing her team towards a decent total. Shreya Patil (2/27) and Nisha Vanguti (2/21) were the pick of the bowlers from Santosh Sports Cricket Acacemy.

Chasing 150 which is a above par total on SPCA wicket was going to be difficult and Sri Ma Vidyalaya bowlers ensured they kept the batters in check restricting them for just 56 runs all out in 13.2 overs. The bowlers did a wonderful job taking wickets at regular intervals. Shrishti Kudalkar (3/13),  Pradnya Bhagat (2/15) and Niteel Negi (2/3) were the pick of the lot proving to be quite effective with the ball.

Mulund Gymkhana opting to bat first in the all important finals could only muster an average total of 111/4 in 20 overs which is definitely not the most formidable totals to defend in a T20 game. Saif Khan at no.3 top scored with a solid 56 off 52 balls but lacked support from the other end as they lacked someone who could accelerate in the death overs. The bowlers did an excellent job with Ravi Gupta being the most economical conceding 12 runs in 4 overs while Shirish Patil (1/17) and Himanshu Kumar (1/20) being the pick of the bowlers.

Chasing a modest 113, it was a mere formality for Rising Star Sports Foundation as they sealed off the chase in mere 14.4 overs. All-rounder Himanshu Kumar opening the innings took on the bowlers from the word Go hitting an unbeaten 65* off mere 45 balls (8 fours).

Rising Star Sports Foundation win the match by 9 wkts while Himanshu Kumar was declared ‘man of the match’ for his all-round performance.

Police Gymkhana opting to bat first at the SRT MCA ground Kandivali were all out for 214 runs in 53.4 overs. In an innings where the 2nd highest score was 18, Jayesh Pokhare looked impressive for his 85 off 92 balls (9 fours, 2 sixes) despite lacking support from the other end. From the bowlers, Shadab Khan was the pick of the lot taking 5/76 in 17.4 overs. All-rounder Maxwell had also chipped in with 3 wkts. In reply, Ghatkoper Jolly Gymkhana were all out for 135 runs in 44.4 overs thanks to some tight bowling by Apoorva Kalyankar (4/13) and Shreyas (3/31).

Police Gymkhana in their 2nd innings were all out for 206 runs with a total lead target of 285 for the opposition to chase. Despite a top order collapse, skipper Sumeet Tare (77) and Rupen Chaurasia (44) came up with crucial knocks. Defending 285 runs, Ghatkoper Jolly Gymkhana were reduced to 178 runs all out thanks to an impressive spell of spin bowling by Shubham Taldeokar. Shubham came up with match winning bowling figures of 5/63 in 16 overs with 2 maidens as he kept providing breakthroughs at crucial intervals.

Police Gymkhana eventually won the match on 1st innings lead and it was a quality team performance put up by the Police Gymkhana boys. Leg-spinner Shubham Taldeokar is also amongst the top 10 highest wicket-takers list in the Madhav Mantri Tournament’19.

Defending an average total of 128, Yogesh Japtap came up with one of the best spells of the tournament, taking 5 wkts for mere 3 runs in 4 overs along with 2 maidens. Those are some stunning numbers any bowler would dream of in the T20 format. Pankaj Pardeshi was also quite spot on taking 4/16 as Century Rayon were all out for 55 runs in 13.5 overs.

Rohit Shirgaonkar’s untouched century helped S.S.Travels cruise to a 2-wicket victory over Reliable Milk Products Ltd.(RMPL) in the final match of Milan Memorial League T40-40, played at the Cross Maidan, Mumbai on 26th May.

After being put to bat first, RMPL lost one of their openers in the fourth over and were struggling at 25 for 1 in the powerplay. They kept on losing wickets at regular intervals which was quite evident from the fact that none of their batsmen were able to cross the 20 run mark except for one. They were at 77 for 7 after the completion of half of the innings with lone warrior Upendra Yadav smashing a hard fought 110 off 97 balls. Ajmal and Rasik struck twice for S.S.Travels while Sagar took four wickets.

After limiting RMPL to 189 all out, Rohit Shirgaonkar put on a solid partnership for the 1st wicket to usher the opponents. Bowling attack of RMPL was good till the 11-14 overs where it was a tough time to survive in the match. They lost 3 crucial wickets in between but it was Rohit fighting it out for his team hitting a match winning 82 off 89 balls.

Century of Upendra Yadav certainly went in vain despite his heroic efforts. Upendra who is a product of Coach Umesh Patwal’s ithink Sportz Academy wore gloves almost after 15 days and still managed to score an impressive century while Rohit Shirgaonkar who was named “Best Batsman” last year was declared “Player of the Match” for his 82 off 89 balls. It was a fleet-footed innings which included eleven fours and two sixes steering his team towards a title win.

Salgaonkar Sports Club opting to bat first at the SPCA Ground could only manage a modest total of 93/4 in 20 overs. Despite wicket in hand, the batters found it difficult to get going with opener top scoring with 24 runs. From the bowlers, all rounder Aryan Shejul came up with a stunning spell taking 1/9 in 4 overs while Raj Menda also chipped in with a wicket in his 3 overs.

Chasing 94 runs was a mere formality for the Rising Star team as they successfully chased it down in mere 12.1 overs winning the semi finals by 7 wkts. Opener Himansu Kumar took the onus of chasing on his shoulders hitting a match winning 52*off mere 32 balls laced with 6 fours and 2 sixes.  Himanshu also got good support from his opening partner Manthan Patil who scored 32 runs off 30 balls as Rising Star Sports Foundation reach the finals in style.

Abhimanyu Singh’s half-century helped L&T Group cruise to a 9-wicket victory over Bassein Catholic Cooperative Bank in the final match of Plate B division in Dreamz Champions Trophy Regular White Ball 2019 , organized by Dreamz Sports and played at the Sunder CC, Cross Maidan, Mumbai on 25th May.

After being put to bat first, Bassein Catholic Bank lost Rico and Santosh in the second over and scoreboard was reading to 33 for 3 at the end of the powerplay. Audrin (45) and Shakti (42) all moved into the broken half-centuries, but none could find a gear high enough to hurt L&T Group. Viral and Chavan struck twice for L&T Group being the pick of the bowlers.

After reducing Bassein Cathalic Bank to 118 for 8, Abhimanyu Singh put on an unbroken century stand for the second wicket to dent the opponents. Abhimanyu and Shiva produced unbeaten 99*  partnership for the second wicket which played a crucial role in team’s win.

Abhimanyu Singh was named “Player of the Match” for smashing a quickfire 80 off 29 balls, including twelve fours and three sixes, a few more balls and he could have reached one of the fastest hundreds of the season.

Air India Kalina Center opting to bat first at the Sachin Tendulkar Ground (MCA Kandivali) were all out for 232/10 in 48 overs. Anish Chaudhary (70) and Ajit Pehlwan (47) were the top scorers for their team. Left arm spinner Shreyas Gurav was the most impressive of the lot coming up with excellent bowling figures of 6/79 as he kept on providing breakthroughs at regular intervals.

Dadaji Kondev Thane Center were all out for 103 runs in their 1st innings as left-arm spinner Shubham Pandey wrecked havoc coming up with 5/30 along with Vignesh Solanki who bagged 4wkts for 41 runs.

Air India Kalina Center were all out for 180 runs in their 2nd innings with opener Shoeb Khan top scoring with 88 runs. It was again some left arm magic by Shreyas Gurav who came up with 6/50 in 17 overs with 3 maidens. Shreyas was spot on in the finale as he overall took 12/129 in the match despite his team on the losing side. Prashant Solanki also chipped in well with 4/41 in 9 overs.

Chasing a target of 310, Dadaji Kondev Thane Center were again found to be struggling with 7wkts down for 125 runs in 39 overs at the end of the game’s play where Air India Kalina Center won the match on 1st innings lead. The match was heavily dominated by spinners and especially Shubham, Shreyas and Vighnesh who proved to be too difficult for the batsman to score runs!
