The final of the DSO U-17 tournament, between TVM school and MBBI was played at pdtsa ground. TVM won the toss and elected to bat first. Due to overnight rain, the wicket was covered and the match started post the stipulated time late in the afternoon. The wicket was slightly sticky and offered the bowlers some purchase.

For TVM, ShivramYadav and Prateek Yadav opened the innings, both went all guns blazing and scored 34 and 45 respectively . The MBBI bowlers leaked 26 extras and that mounted the score to a total of 105 in 8 overs.

In the second innings of the game, the opening partnership of MBBI failed and opening batsman Soham was the lone fighter on the field. He took the bowlers to the cleaners and was eyeing a big win, he hit 4 consecutive sixes in a single over and the bowlers had no answers. In thelast ball of that over, on the cusp of taking a quick single, Soham was out of the screech even before the bowler moduled into his follow through and then, he was a prey to mankading. The tvm team took a controversial but legitimate option to appeal for the out without any warning and Soham was adjourned out. The decision was subject to a fair amount of scrutiny but courtesy the Mankad wicket, in the end TVM registered a healthy win over MBBI.The win marked the qualification of TVM school into the zonals. On the other hand the losing team scored 92 runs for 5 wickets and Soham scored a quick 44.

Lefty Shivram Yadav of TVM was awarded the Man of the match. He scored a handsome 45 runs and also bowled a tight couple of overs.

Result- Tarapur Vidyamandir school won by 14 runs.

The first match of Worli CC was played between National cricket club and P.J Hindu gymkhana at National C.C on 31st October 2019. National C.C won the toss and elected to bat first.

After a sluggish start and a dismal show by the top order, the lower middle order of National C.C tried to steady the ship and with some handy contributions chipping in, they reached a score of 133 before getting bowled out in 37.1 overs. For Hindu gymkhana, the slow left-arm pair of Arya Gaikwad and Agneyaadi picked up 3 scalps each, they conceded 27 extras with 21wides.

Chasing 134 runs, the Hindu gymkhana did not get off to a flying start losing 3 wickets for the first 30 runs. Fortunately for them, the 5th wicket formidable partnership of  60 runs between lefties Aryan Bhatia (27 off 68) and Agneya Adi (34* off 58) put their team on the verge of a hard-earned victory. Agneya remained unbeaten and P.J Hindu gymkhana won the match in the 37th over with 3 wickets remaining. Off spinner Jai Bhanushali picked up couple of wickets for the national C.C but didn’t get much support from others.

For his all round performance with both ball and bat, Agneya Adi was deservingly announced man of the match.

Result-P.J Gymkhana won by 3 wickets.

In the match which took place between SVIS Borivali and Gokuldham High School, SVIS Borivali opting to bat first gave a target of 200 runs in 30 overs. From SVIS, opener Atharva Deshpade (49) and middle order batsman Angkrish Raghivanshi (65) were the highest scorers.

Ankrish Raghuvanshi

Chasing 200 in 30 overs, Gokuldhan School opener Khush Jain anchored the chase for his team hitting a fluent 113 off 93 balls laced with 14 boundaries and a six. Khush lacked support from the other end but he kept on playing his natural game.

Despite the lack of support from the other end, his ton was enough to save the game as Gokuldham School reached 167/7  + they got 50 penalty runs as SVIS were 3 overs late eventually surpassing the target of SVIS and reaching 220 runs on paper.

Gokuldham School won the match while it was some impressive display of batting by Atharva, Angkrish and especially Khush who single handedly pushed his team towards a win.

PDTSA after being electing to bat first at Ours CC Virar were in for a shock after getting reduced to just 41 runs all out in 29.3 overs. Off-spinner Medhankar Lavesh bowled an excellent spell of 4/7 in 9.3 overs including 5 maidens while the rest of the bowlers were also quite effective picking up two wickets apiece.

Payyade Sports Club in reply were off to a flying start with openers Ishaan Roy and Krish Kanawade putting on 121 runs for the 1st wicket. Krish got out for 46 while Ishaan converted his good start into a brilliant knock of 123 runs. It was a perfectly balanced innings where he showed controlled aggression facing 167 balls and smashing 14 boundaries. Kushagra who came at no.7 was also impressive with the willow yielding a quick 68 off mere 50 balls (9 fours) to push Payyade SC to 369/8 dec in 79.4 overs.

PDTSA again failed to make an impact in the 2nd innings getting all out for 45 runs. Payyade SC bowlers were collectively impressive with every bowler providing breakthroughs helping their team win by an innings and 283 runs.

Amar CC after being made to bat first at the Cross Maidan Ground were struggling at one stage with 7 wkts down for 84 runs but it was their savior Hetanshu Kamdar at no.9 who scored a brilliant knock of 49 runs in mere 31 balls (8 fours). It was on the back of his innings Amar CC reached a total of 152/10 in 51 .4 overs. From the bowlers, it was DY Patil’s skipper Mann Bhanushali leading from the front bagging 5/58 in 24.4 overs including 3 maidens. Mann almost bowled half of the team’s overs as he handled the bowling department with good responsibility.  Fast bowler Ayush Wadekar with 2/14 also gave a few early breakthroughs.

DY Patil however could not emulate the same performance with the bat as Amar CC bowlers collectively restricted them to 88 runs all out. Amar CC batted another 72 overs in the 2nd innings where they declared their innings at 191/9 avoiding the tag of getting all out.

Vansh Gandhi

Vansh Gandhi (54) and Jay Vyas (48) at the middle order were the 2nd innings top scorers for Amar CC. Skipper Mann was once again the pick of the lot taking 4/49 in 33 overs including 12 maidens with his wily spin.  Spinner Vedant Gore with 3/49 was also quite supportive with the ball.

Hitanshu Kamdar
Hitanshu Kamdar

DY Patil batted for 5 overs in the 2nd innings for the loss of 3 wkts before the match ended with Amar CC winning the match on 1st innings lead. The match witnessed some impressive performances where in it was impressive to see Mann bowling as many as 57.4 overs in the match with the same flow while Hetanshu, Vansh and Jay were promising with the bat.

Maharashtra side after opting to bat first were bundled out for 135 runs in 48 overs thanks to some tight bowling by the Mumbai bowlers. Spinner Musheer Khan was the pick of the bowlers taking 4/28 in 17 overs with 7 maidens. Apart from Musheer, Anurag Singh and Prince Badiani also chipped in with the ball taking 2 wkts each.

Mumbai team on the other side surpassed the 1st innings trail scoring 213/10 in 83.5 overs. Even though it was a shaky start for Mumbai, it was left hander Ayush Jethwa at no.5 rescuing his team with a match winning knock of 110 runs in 231 balls (17 fours,  1 six).

Maharashtra team in the 2nd innings suffered a batting collapse getting all out for just 64 runs. Musheer Khan ran through the Maharashtra batters coming up with a brilliant spell of spin bowling taking 6/23 in 17.1 overs (9 maidens). Ayush Jethwa contributed with the ball too taking 4/9 with 9 maidens in 12 overs as Mumbai went on to win the match by an innings and 14 runs.

Wonder Boy: Ayush Jethwa

Musheer has certainly made a point post his comeback while Ayush continues to rise up the ladders with consistent performances.

Prabodhan Goregaon after being made to bat first at Venus Ground were bundled out for just 39 runs thanks to some really impressive bowling by Kabir Bedia (4/3) and Kartik Patankar (3/8) who kept on providing breakthroughs not allowing a single batsman to score in double digits.

Yogi CC in reply lost an early wicket of their opener Aryan Sankpal but what came next was a sight to behold for most of the spectators at the ground apart from the bowling team! Opener Pranav Sawant and Shreyash Hirelkar stitched a marathon partnership of 343 runs for the 2nd wicket batting almost 84 overs together. Innings and partnerships like this become not only memorable but also displays wholesome talent of the players. Opener Pranav played the anchors role scoring 150* in 272 balls (12 fours) while wicket-keeper batsman Shreyash who hails from the famous school of cricket SVIS kept the scoreboard ticking hitting 23 boundaries and a six en-route his brilliant 180 off 251 balls.

Shyreyash Hirlekar and Pranav Sawant

Yogi CC declared their innings at 351/3 in 89.5 overs at the end of the game’s play where they won the match on 1st innings lead.

Into the all important finals between TVM School and Mahim School, it was going to be a head to head match with TVM having a strong record of wins behind them while Mahim School having an equally promising line up.

Batting first TVM School scored a very healthy total of 157/1 in 20 overs. Yadav brothers Prateek Yadav and Shivam Yadav ensured their school team was in command all the time. Prateek scored a gritty knock of 55 while Shivam remained unbeaten with 61* as both the brothers toiled with the bowling attack.

Mahim School in reply failed to chase down the total thanks to some tight bowling by the TVM bowlers who handed over a dominating finals win to their TVM Team. TVM School win by a huge margin and with this win they qualify for district clash which is to be held on 02.11.19 at PDTSA Ground.
