After being put to bat first, Kings XI Virar posted a very healthy total of 160/4 in 16 overs. Opener Sumukh Pai top scored for his team scoring a quickfire 74 off just 45 balls (8 fours, 3 sixes) while he also had a good partnership with Mayur Mangela whose 22 ball cameo of 40 ensured the team reached a big total.
Defending 161, it was off-spinner Naresh Pardeshi leading the bowlers department as he came up with envious bowling figures of 6/17 in 4 overs restricting Dream Team Virar to 101/9 in 16 overs. Naresh was spot on in his spell as bowling figures like these are nothing but impressive in a T20 Format. Naresh also got support from his co-bowlers who ensured the opposition team was not allowed to score runs freely.

Result-Kings XI Virar win by 59 runs and Naresh Pardeshi declared “Player of the match”
CHANAWALA CHALLENGERS T-40 TROPHY 2019-20 : SS Travels (SST) took on Akumentis Healthcare Ltd (AHL) on 28th December, 19 at Mariya sports Academy. SST won the toss and surprisingly elected to bat first in spite of being aware of the dampness of the wicket in the early hours. SST wanted to test their batting order.
Captain Rohit Shirgaonkar was adroit at scoring a superb 87 runs off 84 balls. He hit 11 classy fours in his inning and continued his good form in the tournament. Amogh Bodas scored 69 off 68 balls and they both formed a partnership of 140 runs for the 2nd wicket. Shailesh Nakashe’s 40 off 24 balls provided the last minute boost and SST scored 277 runs in 40 overs losing 7 wicket. For, AHL Atish Golatkar picked up couple of wickets.
AHL Team’s scorecard didn’t have much to boast of and they actually crumbled at a score of 146 runs in 29 overs. For AHL, Dhiraj Barot had a very good outing with the ball despite being a non-regular bowler, he picked up a figure of 2 for 29 in 8 overs\. Along with him, Ankit and chetan also picked up 2 wickets each.
Result – SS travels won by 131 runs.
Rohit Shirgaonkar was awarded the man of the match.

Architect’s T20 Championship Trophy – Season 8 – Mumbai : 28 December, 2019 – Played at the Chereshwar Club, Trombay, RIAMS Stars XI after being put to bat first could only post a total of 124/10 in 20 overs. Top order players, Sajid Shaikh (26) and Fahim Ansari (26) top scored for their team while the rest of the batters found it difficult to get going. The architect in chief for RIAM’S collapse was Ninad Chavan who came up with excellent bowling figures of 6/27 in 4 overs. Ninad was spot on with the ball as he brought up the best bowling figures of this season in AT20.
Despite a spirited bowling performance by Hellbenders led by Ninad, it was some good fightback by the RIAMS stats bowlers as they kept it tight and brought the game till the very last over. Hellbenders eventually fell 4 runs short managing 120/8 in 20 overs. Farukh Momim with 2/20 was the best bowler for RIAMS while the rest of the bowlers also bowled really well to keep the batsman in check.
Result– RIAMS Stars XI won by 4 runs while Sajid Shaikh was declared ‘man of the match” for his all round performance of 26 runs and 1/17 in 4 overs.

Architect’s T20 Championship Trophy – Season 8 – Mumbai : 28 December, 2019 – Played at the Chereshwar Club, Trombay, AESA-Pune after being put to bat first posted a total of 189/6 in 20 overs. Though they did not have any batsman scoring a big knock but the good part was they had batters chipping in with 30’s. Opener Yogesh Balwadkar (32), Sandip Lolage (39), Koshish Dhoot (33) and Chaitanya Pande (30*) were the highest scorers for AESA Team.
For Architect Hafeez Contractor team, it was a perennial batting collapse with scoreboard reading 40/6 at one stage. However, the hopes were raised thanks to a brilliant 39 ball 72 by Kamlesh Dhanu at no.7. However, Kamlesh lacked support from the other end as Hafeez Contractor’s team was all out for 145 runs. From the bowlers, all-rounder Yogesh Balwadkar with 3/22 in 4 overs and Shantanu Joshi with 3/16 in 4 overs were the pick of the lot doing an excellent job of containing the opposition.
Result-AESA Pune won the match by 44 runs while Yogesh Balwadkar was declared ‘man of the match’

MILAN MEGA CORPORA
TE T20 LEAGUE 2019-20: The match between AMS and Godrej was conducted at Cross maidan on 28th December, 19. Godrej won the toss and elected to bat first. The match was organized by Milan cricket club.
Opener Pratik took the AMS bowlers to cleaners and scored a magnificent 86 off 29 balls. His knock included 8 sixes and 7 fours. With the aegis of his innings along with handy contributions from other batsmen, Godrej reached to a score of 191 in 20 overs losing 8 wickets. AMS’s Huzefa took 3 wickets in 4 overs.

It was a big target for AMS and the openers obliged with full dexterity. Yusuf petiwala and Captain Prajwal shetty sealed the deal for their team by building a 123 runs opening partnership in just 11.4 overs. Yusuf scored an agile and splendid knock of 86 runs off only 56. Prajwal succored Yusuf by his super aggressive knock 61 off 36 balls before getting caught out. Both the batsmen were also pretty alert on their feet and rotated the strike regularly. AMS easily chased the target in 18.5 overs losing only 2 wickets.
Result – Ams won by 8 wickets.

Bhupen has been performing consistently at the club level since many years. In the previous season he had scored 8 tons in club cricket in a span of just 2 or 3 months and now he is performing at the state level with same consistency.
In the match vs Assam which was played on 11th dec, Bhupen had smashed a marathon knock of 269* runs in mere 259 balls which helped Mumbai win by an innings and 6 runs. In the next match which followed on 19th december, Bhupen scored a polished 112* off 180 balls vs Baroda even though Mumbai lost that game.

In the 3rd game which was against Himachal Pradesh on 27th of December, Bhupen scored 85 and 127 across both the innings while the match ended in draw. Bhupen with 3 back to back tons in 3 matches so far has amassed 612 runs in Col CK Nayadu Trophy at an average of 204.4 and if his consistency since the last few seasons is anything to go by, Bhupen certainly looks poised for a Ranji Trophy call up.
Mumbai: The Bombay Gymkhana will be organizing the inaugural Inter-Schools T20 Cricket Tournament at the Gymkhana’s Cricket ground from January 7 to 25, 2020.
Eight school teams will be participating in this league-cum-knockout tournament. The 8 teams will be divided into two groups of four teams each and they will play on a round-robin league format. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals.
The participating schools include, Cathedral & John Connon, Campion School, G.D. Somani, St. Mary’s, Gopi Birla School, Greenlawns, Aditya Birla and Dhirubhai Ambani.
As noted by legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar; that maximum students should get chance to play, this tournament is being organized with each team of 14 players wherein any 11 can bat or bowl; thereby all 14 players get to play. All other ICC rules will apply for this tournament.
To give the young cricketers a unique experience; a few matches including the semi-finals and final will be played under floodlights. All matches will be played at the historic Bombay Gymkhana ground where the first ever Test match between India and England was played from December 15 to 18, 1933.
Star CC after being put to bat first at Azad Maidan posted a commanding total of 303/9 in 45 overs. Coming at no.3 Vinod Ade remained unbeaten till the end scoring a fantastic 111* off 101 balls (9 fours, 4 sixes). Vinod who scored a Kanga hundred on debut continues to show his prowess with the bat as he pushed his team towards a very good total.

Fort Youngsters CC in reply were all out for 193 runs thanks to some tight bowling by Ravishankar Singh and Tejas Desmukh. Ravishankar who is in good nick with the ball this season picked up 4/30 in 5.5 overs while spinner Tejas Desmukh bagged 4/41 in 9 overs as Star CC won the game by 110 runs.
Parkophene Cricketers batting first at DPC Ground, Dadkar Maidan posted a total of 205/10 in 58.5 overs. With the team struggling at 7/85, it was Omprakash Jaiswal rescuing his team from trouble scoring a brilliant 106 off 140 balls at no.6. Omprakash smashed 10 fours and 6 sixes pushing his team towards a decent total of 205/10 in 58.5 overs. From the bowlers, it was Mumbai’s prime all-rounder Shams Mulani coming up with an excellent spell of 8/73 in 20.3 overs.

Shivaji Park Gymkhana chasing 206 were off to a brilliant start with openers Gandhar Bhatawadekar (82 off 72 balls) & Akash Anand (33 off 63) putting on 121 runs for the 1st wicket. Eventually they sealed of the chase in 32.5 overs winning the game by 5 wkts.

Into the final match of the season, Yogi CC batting first at Sainath Sports Club declared their innings at 193/8 in 41 overs. Even though it was a sluggish start by the top order, it was their middle order bats consisting of Sourabh Singh (41) and Chandan Chauhan (57). From the bowlers, left arm spinner Yash Chavan and right arm spinner Bharat Patil with 4 wkts each were the pick of the bowlers.
Sainath SC despite their opener Umesh Gurjar’s brilliant 69 failed to cross the 1st innings lead. Karan More (28) and Sachin Solanki (28) did try their best but the team was all out for 169 runs in 36.2 overs. Sourabh Singh owned the day with a solid all round performance as he also came up with 5 wkts conceding only 25 runs in 9 overs. Kunal Pal was also quite supportive with his spell of 4/28 in 9 overs.
Yogi Cricket Club won the match by an innings and reached the no.5 position in the table with 14 pts in 9 games. On the other hand, Sainath SC who have performed well throughout the tournament with 20 pts in 9 games emerge champions of C Div Kanga league and get promoted to B Div.
