The Knockouts (T10 Matches) of the Blue Storm F15 Tournament took place at the NRI Complex Ground, Seawoods.
In the second Semi-final, CYSS set a target of 80 Runs in 10 Overs for IndiaFirst to qualify for the Finals. Abhijeet top-scored with 29 off 21 Balls. Miserly spells from Skipper Ajish Abdul Rehman (2-0-7-1) & Pushkar Sharma (2-0-9-2) – both extremely tight, especially in the T10 context – ensured that their Team didn’t have an unmanageable task. During their pursuit, Wicket Keeper Babli Sharma played a blinder of an Innings scoring 28 off just 15 Balls (3 Fours & 2 Sixes). Pushkar anchored the Innings with 21 Runs. A huge Six by Ajish sealed the fate of the Match, before the winning Runs came in the tense moments with 3 Balls to spare. Pushkar Sharma was adjudged Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
The Final was reduced to 6 Overs aside with sunset fast approaching. OC India set a target of 50 Runs in 6 Overs for IndiaFirst to lift the Trophy. With only one Bowler allowed to bowl 2 Overs, Ajish pegged them back with a tight spell of 2-0-13-1. Swaminathan GK bowled an excellent final Over conceding just 4 Runs. The chase started rather shakily with 2 quick Wickets. But again Babli played a little gem of an Innings of 22 off 15 Balls (2 Sixes). Needing 4 off the last Over under fading light, in another close finish, Ajish hit the winning Boundary with a lofted flick over Square Leg in cameo of 16 off 8 Balls. Babli Sharma was awarded the Man of the Match.
It was another excellent Team effort from IndiaFirst Life Insurance. Pushkar Sharma was adjudged the Best Batman of the Tournament for his consistent performances with the Bat. Babli Sharma won the accolades for Best Fielder. Ajish Abdul Rehman bagged the Best Bowler of the Tournament. It was a fitting All-round display from the Skipper in the crucial Knockout stage.
This was IndiaFirst’s second Trophy this Season from as many Tournaments. Earlier they had won the BU Cup 2019 organised by the Bombay United Cricket Club.

The pitch was dry and slightly crumbled on the top.
Smollan’s Salim Shaikh scored 26 off 41 and Sudhur Naikdhure, middle order batsman scored a quick 29 off 24. Apart from them, others had pale scores. The team reached a score of 125 runs in 20 overs before getting bowled out. Loreal bowlers dominated the opposition and 4 of the bowlers had couple of wickets to their names. It was a great deck for fast bowlers. Siddhesh Hawaldar was the best with a figure of 2 for 7 in 1.4 overs.
The Loreal batting also succumbed to some hostile spell and the tricky pitch. Sandeep Lahase scored a decent 27 off 23 and Siddhesh Hawaldar also tried to build a partnership with his 21 runs but all in vain. The whole match was a low scoring affair and the dominance of bowlers was inevitable. The Smollan bowlers had a great outing. Opening pair of Swapnil More and Vidhyadhar Bagul cleaned up 4 wickets in their opening spell of 8 overs. The star of the bowlers was medium pacer Sujay lotankar who had earlier scored a decent 14 off 10 balls in the batting innings also clinched a stunning figure of 4 for 12 in 3.1 overs leaving a dent in the opposition’s middle order. They bowled out team Loreal for 88 runs in 19.1 overs.
Results – Smollan won by 37 runs.

SSA Strikers opting to bat first at Vengsarkar Academy, Mahul could post only an average total of 124/8 in 20 overs. With a dismal top order start, it was some cameos at the middle and lower middle order which pushed the team towards a respectable total. From the bowlers, Shantanu Joshi and Ashwin Kamble with 2 wkts each were the pick of the bowlers.
For AESA Pune, it looked like a mere formality to chase down the 125 total as BJ Japtap at no.3 and Sandip Lolage at no.4 finished off things for them in style. Jagptal scored an unbeaten 46* off 35 balls (9 fours) while it was the blazing 22 ball 42* by Sandip which had 3 fours and 3 sixes which sealed off the chase in mere 15.5 overs.
Result-AESA Pune won by 8 wkts and Sandip Lolage for his quickfire 42* was declared ‘Man of the Match”
Arch Mavericks batting first at Chereshwar Club, Trombay posted a mammoth total of 214/5 in 20 overs. Opener Pranay Ranka gave a superb opening start scoring a quickfire 69 off 49 balls laced with 14 boundaries while quick cameos by Mehul Rathod (39 off 24) & Nikhil Jain (28* off 12) further provided icing on the cake during death overs.
Chasing 215, the pressure was obviously more on VK Architects to maintain a run rate of 10+ right from the beginning. The pressure of chasing took the better of them as VK Architects collapsed for a paltry total of 69 runs in 12.5 overs. It was some brilliant display of bowling by Shamal Palod (4/11 in 3.5 overs) & Vinay Kate (4/17 in 4 overs) who kept the batsman in check with their tight bowling.
Result- Arch Mavericks won the match by 146 runs while Pranay Ranka for his match winning 69 was declared ‘Man of the match”

From the bowlers, fast bowler John Abraham with 3/75 in 17 overs was the pick of the lot.
With a decent start by the top 3 batters, New Hind Sporting Club were much into the game thanks to a game changing 195 run stand between Sachin Yadav and Siddhant Adhatrao. The lefthand-righthand combination at the middle order worked well for New Hind as Sachin went on to score 103 off 137 balls while Adhatrao remained unbeaten on 103* off 114 balls.
Result- From 29/3 to 293/4 in 62 overs, New Hind SC won the game on the basis of Quotient
Islam Gymkhana opting to bat first at on their homeground notched up a more than decent total of 314/10 in 67.4 overs. An innings where he displayed a lot of composure, hashir smashed 15 fours and 2 sixes while also stitched a crucial 112 run stand for the 4th wicket Mihir Agarwal who scored 68 off 79 balls. Fast bowler Harshal Soni was bang on taking 5/75 in 16.4 overs coupled with 2 maidens. Krutik Hanagawadi with 4/93 was also impressive.

CCI (Cricket Club of India) on the other hand despite two solid half centuries by Nishad Gabhawala (73) and Ajinkya Patil (83) lacked support from the other end with as many as players getting out in single digits. From the bowlers, it was their left arm quickster Irfan Mallick cleaning up the middle to order with a fiery spell of 6/67 in 13 overs. While Javed and Harsh Mishra bagged some important top order wickets, it was Irfan doing the job perfectly in removing the middle and lower order of CCI team restricting them to 244/10 in 46.3 overs.
