Chasing a moderate total, Swami Vivekananda International School was on the money right from the start. Devansh Trivedi and Arjun Lotlikar got the runs coming easily knocking the ball all-round the park. Don Bosco tried eight different bowlers in search of a breakthrough but Devansh and Arjun had got their eyes set in by then.

The third match of Cricfit Premier League 2021 saw Goldenstar Cricket Academy lock horns with NEGEV Cricket Academy at the Thakur Village Cricket Stadium in Kandivali East. Goldenstar produced an all-round effort to thump NEGEV by six wickets and 41 balls to spare.
Batting first, NEGEV got off to a poor start losing opener Tushi Shah in the second over. Mansi Patel bowled a gem of a delivery to dismantle Tushi’s timber to have NEGEV at 5 for 1. Since then, it was a one-woman show as Saloni Kushte dominated the proceedings from one end.
She played a fine 50-run knock from 55 balls including seven boundaries but lacked support from the other end. No other batters managed to cross the double-digit mark as Zeal D’Mello, Mansi Patel, and Jayshree Bhutiya chipped in with two wickets each to contain NEGEV Cricket Academy for mere 95 runs.

Although Tanvi got out scoring 14 runs which forced another dismissal of Mansi Patel. Reeling at 60 for three, Goldenstar needed another partnership to secure a win. Sayali Temkar calmed through her knock along with Ulka Patil to take her side home convincingly to open CPL 2021 with a victory. NEGEV Cricket Academy bowlers tried their best but they didn’t have runs on the board which cost them the match.

Played at Fatima Cricket Ground, Vidyavihar, Mumbai, Old Monks XI opting to bat first posted a handsome total of 226/6 in 20 overs. It was entertainment from the openers Ojas and Saket Adhikari (58 off 41 balls) who piled up 129 runs in mere 10 overs for the 1st wicket. Opener Ojas Mehta was in a completely different zone hitting the balls on merit en-route his brilliant 100 off mere 44 balls, an innings which consisted 17 fours and 4 sixes at a strike rate of close to 228.00.
Usually reflexes start to wane as the time passes by but that doesn’t seem to the case with Ojas Mehta who was in Mumbai Ranji probables during his playing days. Ojas at present also plays for MCA BKC Club and Bombay Scottish School in Dads Tournament.
Defending 227, Royal Tigers Blue could only muster 112 runs on the board for the loss of 9 wickets. The highlight of the bowling performance was certainly Ramesh Powar who made a sort of comeback to boost the players. The former Indian Test cricketer and Ranji Legend only bowled an over but it was certainly a sight watching him bowl again! Rohit Wagh with 3/21 in 4 overs was the pick of the lot while Yatin Telang and Abhishek Ghosalkar bagged 2 wkts a piece to end the Royal Tigers Blue’s chase in a commanding manner.
Result: Old Monks won by 114 runs
Man of the match: Ojas Mehta

Played at All Saints High School Ground in Mumbai, Mulund Knockers opting to bat first posted a total of 145/9 in 20 overs. Bhavin Mehta opening the innings top scored with a gritty knock of 56 runs off 47 balls (7 fours , 1 six) but he lacked support from the other end as most of the batters failed to convert their starts into something substantial.
Spinner Satyam Chauadhary changed the course of the match coming up with excellent bowling figures of 3/21 in 4 overs. Satyam was brought in at a crucial time and he delivered the goods with a hat-trick cleaning up the middle order and changing the momentum in his team’s favor.
Chasing 146, Warriors Cricket Club were off to a shaky start losing wicket on the very first ball. Warriors CC kept losing wickets at regular intervals with scoreboard reading 32/3 and 72/5 in 12 overs despite a solid 30 by their skipper Rohit Shirgaonkar. However, the middle order and lower middle order ensured to bring their team back into the game with Vaishnav Sail at no.5 guiding the chase with a quick 32 ball 40. Quick cameos by wicket-keeper Rahul (14 off 10), Satyam Chaudhary (19* off 18) and Viren (16* off 5) further ensured Warriors CC crossed the victory line in the 19th over with 4 wkts to spare.

Played at the picturesque Fatima Cricket Ground, Digital Broadcast XI after winning the toss opted to bat first posting a decent total of 160/6 in 20 overs. Even though none of their batters were able to convert their starts, the positive from their batting was everyone chipped in with quick 20’s and 30’s which ensured a 150+ total on the board. Atul Srivastava, their no.3 batsman top scored with 41 off 32 balls. From the bowlers, Chetan Kapoor with 4/25 was the pick of the lot.
Defending a total of 161 vs a team which just few days back scored a 250+ score in a t20 match, it certainly required a herculean task from their bowlers & Viraj Gandhi rose up to the occasion for Digital Broadcast XI. Viraj who was the 2nd change bowler came in at the 6th over and changed the course of the match with his disciplined line and length. Viraj returned with match winning bowling figures of 5/25 in 4 overs restricting Yodhas Strikers to 131/8 in 20 overs.
Viraj shared with Cricketgraph : “Yoddhas Strikers is a quality team, just few days back they had scored 250 on this same ground in a T20, they have 4-5 batters who are in excellent form and just fresh from their hundreds. So it was really a great feeling to perform vs such a quality team. I ensured bowling in good line and length and also adjusted the field accordingly which resulted in 5 catches in my bowling”
