Played at Woods Cricket Ground in Mumbai, Yes Cricket Club opting to bat first scored a massive total on board of 197/6 in 20 overs. After losing the openers early, it was Daiwat Rane at no.3 who scored 71* off 49 balls to top score in the match. Daiwat batted till the very end smashing 8 fours and a six taking his team towards a very defendable total. Apart from Daiwat, Simranjit Singh scored a quick 40 off 22 balls.

Mumbai Mavericks in reply could only manage 130/4 courtesy a disciplined and economical bowling performance from Yes Club bowlers. Yes Club won the match by 67 runs while Daiwat Rane was declared ‘man of the match’ for his brilliant half century.

Odisha team winning the toss, chose to bowl 1st where Aditya Jaisingh’s fifer broke the backbone of Vidarbha team. All thanks to the knocks of Jagjot Sasan, Rohit Binkar and Abhishek Agrawal, who helped Vidarbha to reach a total of 355 on a bowling friendly pitch in the 1st innings of the Cooch Behar Trophy (2021-22).

Jagjot Sasan proved out to be an important assest for Vidarbha. He proved himself in both batting and bowling. He scored 82 of 76 balls. His innings included 8 boundaries and 5 sixes. Also he bowled 13 overs and giving just 21 runs and also picking up a wicket for his team.

The score of Odisha team at the end of day 1 was 22 for no loss in 5 overs. Starting from where they left, the Odisha team on day 2 scored 275 runs at the loss of 7 wickets, with Aashirwad Swain scoring 83 runs of 133 balls and Saideep Mohapatra scoring 86 of 204. Vidarbha’s Gaurav Farde took 4 wickets among the 7 wickets of the Odisha team. His wickets included the in form Aashirwad Swain and the Captain Shreshth Singh.

Both the teams tried their best and will continue their form in the rest of the matches of the Cooch Behar Trophy (2021-22). The teams and the players will have to keep calm, be patient and let the best one wins.

After a long hiatus, Cricket seems to be back in Mumbai and in what can be potential good news for all age group level cricketers in Mumbai, Renowned Cricket Coach Jwala Singh in association with Mumbai Cricket Club will be organizing cricket tournaments for various age groups beginning from U12 to U14, U16, U19 & U23 levels. There will also be U19 Girls tournament which will begin from December 15, 2021. Also, selected players from each group will get to train with top coaches of MCC & International Players like Wasim Jaffer, Chaminda Vaas, Rangana Herath & Jwala Singh.

There will be 10 teams from each age group that gets split across two pools comprising 5 teams each. Every team is assured of minimum 4 matches before the knockout rounds. All matches will be 40 overs each and will be conducted with white ball.

Played at Islam Gymkhama, Payyade Sports Club after being put to bat first scored 269/5 in 70 overs. Opener Ashay Sardesai scored a solid looking 74 runs off 157 balls which had 13 boundaries while Omkar Ghule was the 2nd highest scorer with 63 runs off 84 balls (9 fours, 1 six).  Both the batters stitched a crucial partnership of 76 runs while Dhrumil Matkar who came at no.6 scored a quick 59* off 58 balls which had 6 fours and 2 sixes.

The match was started late due to wet outfield on Day 1 while the match started late on Day 2 also due to interruption and ball loss. Sponsors XI got to bat only for 24 overs scoring 116/4 with openers Dasrath Chavan (40) & Rugved More (38) giving a good start. The match eventually ended in a draw with no results obtained.

MIG Cricket Club after being put to bat first at Youth’s Own Union, Cross Maidan posted a reasonably good total of 261/4 in 70 overs. Despite a sluggish start with scoreboard reading 33/4 at one stage, Sheesh Shetty and in form Anand Bais changed the game stitching 228 runs for the 5th wicket. Left handed Sheesh scored an unbeaten 108* off 137 balls (10 fours, 2 sixes) while Anand Bais scored an unbeaten 102* off 156 balls laced with 4 fours and 3 sixes. PJ Hindu Gymkhana in reply were cleaned up for 102 runs courtesy a disciplined bowling performance from MIG Bowlers. Ankush jaiswal with 3/29 in 11 overs including 4 maidens was the pick of the lot as MIG won the match by 159 runs.

Played at Green View Cricket Ground in Telangana, Hyderabad, Velosio team after being put to bat first posted a moderate total of 132/3 in 20 overs. Opener Aryan Reddy who hails from Little Scholar School top scored in the match with a fluent 67 off 54 balls (6 fours).  Openers Aryan and Joseph Thampi (46 runs) stitched a 113 run opening stand in 17.4 overs.

Statistic XI Corp could only manage a total of 122/6 in 20 overs as Velosio successfully defended a low total. It was a clinical bowling performance with Shaik Haji and AV bagging 2 wickets a piece while Aryan Reddy also chipping in with a wicket as Velosio won the match by 10 runs. Aryan Reddy for his all-round performance was declared “man of the match”

Played at the picturesque Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana in Kandivali, Mumbai, Dilip Vengsarkar XI opting to bat first scored a total of 321/5 in 87 overs with openers Himanshu Kumar and Hrishikesh Chavan giving a solid opening start. Himanshu scored 60 off 101 balls while Hrishikesh went on to score an impressive 132 off 204 balls laced with 24 boundaries and a six.

Rohit Sharma XI in reply were all out for 170 runs courtesy a brilliant spell from spinner Nishit Balla. Nishit returned with excellent bowling figures of 6/37 in 19 overs including 8 maidens which proved to be the game changer for Dilip Vensarkar XI. Dilip Vengsakar XI in 2nd innings batted for 30 overs with 8 wickets in hand as they won the match on 1st innings lead.

In what turned out to be a low scoring thriller, two evenly poised top division teams took on each other at NCC Cross Maidan with CCI after being put to bat first were all out for 177 runs in 63.4 overs. Opener Arya Satpute top scored with 88 runs off 191 balls smashing 12 fours and a six. Fast bowler Ravinder Solanki turned out to be lethal with the ball cleaning up CCI’s top order with his disciplined spell of fast bowling. Ravinder returned with bowling figures of 5/55 in 20 overs including 2 maidens.

Defending a low total, the pressure was certainly more on the CCI team but their in-form pacemen Krutik Hanagawadi continued his excellent form with the ball backing it up with a yet another fifer taking 5/72 in 14 overs including 3 maidens. National CC in reply were restricted to 170/9 in 41 overs wherein they were declared winners on the basis of net run rate.

Mumbai, December 4: Fine bowling performances from Siddharth Raut (5 for 50) and Yash Dicholkar (4 for 37) have put Parsee Gymkhana in a strong position against Sainath Sports Club on the first day of their second round Group-C league match of the Automotive Manufacturing-74th Police Invitation Shield Cricket Tournament 2021-2022 and played at the Parsee Gymkhana ground on Saturday.

Parsee after winning the toss dismissed Sainath SC for a paltry 163 in 40.2 overs. Karan More was the lone Sainath batsman who managed to defy the rival bowlers and get a decent knock in the middle scoring 74 runs. In reply Parsee Gymkhana are placed at a healthy 78 for the loss of just two wickets in 17 overs and look poised to record their second successive victory. Vikrant Auti is batting on 32 at the draw of stumps.

In a Group-A match which started late due to the wet outfield, defending champions Payyade Sports Club scored 36 for the loss of one wicket in 16 overs against Automotive Cricket Club.

In Group-B encounters, Cricket Club of India made 94 for 3 wickets in 30 overs against National Cricket Club. Arya Satpute is unbeaten on 41 runs, while Ravinder Solanki picked 2 wickets for 30.

Former champions MIG Cricket Club managed to reach of total of 69 for 4 wickets from the possible 25 overs in the day against P.J. Hindu Gymkhana. Sheesh Shetty was batting on 21 runs while Ankit Singh claimed 2 wickets giving away just 7 runs.

In a match Played at the Eden Gardens ground in Ajman approved by the Ajman Cricket Council & organized Karwan Global, DCC Starlets after being put to bat first  posted a total of 137/6 in 20 overs with opener Saqib Palekar top scoring with 64 runs off 50 balls (3 fours, 4 sixes).  From the bowlers, Saifullah Khan with 2/26 was the pick of the lot.

Defending a modest total of 138, it required something extra ordinary for DCC Starlets to restrict the Hyderabad Hawks Academy & it was Harshit Seth who did the unthinkable for his team. 16 year old Indian origin cricketer Harshit Seth who has represented UAE in U16 at the age of 14 & currently preparing himself for U19 world cup will be telling his family and mates for the rest of his life, after achieving this almost unheard-of feat – “A Perfect Over”.

Harshit created a history as he took 6 wickets in 6 balls in a U19 league match against U19 team from Pakistan. Harshit bowled 4 overs including 2 maiden, gave away 4 Runs and took 8 wickets which included double hat-trick of 6 balls – 6 wickets. Harshit took 4wickets in 4 balls followed by 2 wickets in the first 2 balls of his next over restricting Hyderabad Hawks Academy to 44 runs all out.
