On April 5, Bombay Gymkhana and Apollo Cricket Club clashed against each other during the MCA U19 Mangrol Cricket Tournament. Apollo Cricket Club won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Put in to bat, Bombay Gymkhana scored 4-248 runs in 40 overs. Anshul Murli, who opened the batting, blasted an undefeated 140 off just 110 balls. Murli hammered 23 boundaries and two sixes during his blitzkrieg. Middle order batter Prithviraj Misal joined forces with Murli to plunder run a ball 58. Misal peppered the boundary rope eight times. On the other hand, Apollo Cricket Club’s bowlers did not have any answers to the questions posed by Bombay Gymkhana batters. Prasanna Shukla was the pick of the bowlers as he struck with 2-40 in eight overs.
In reply, Apollo Cricket Club could manage to pile up 180 as they were all out in 37 overs. The opening batting pair set the base however there were no major contributions from the rest. On the other hand, Bombay Gymkhana’s Sohan Talekar rattled the opposition with 4-40 in eight overs. Talekar bowled disciplined lines and lengths to yield rich dividends.

Played at Belpada in Navi Mumbai, Future Star U14 Team opting to bat first made a healthy total on board of 274/4 in 40 overs. Opening the innings, Aayush Shinde went on to top score in the match with a brilliant knock of 150 runs in 116 balls, an innings which consisted 26 boundaries while rest of the players batted around him. Aayush dealt mostly in boundaries playing at a healthy strike rate of 129.31 taking his team towards a respectable position.

On April 5, Sainath Sports Club took on P.J. Hindu Gymkhana during the MCA U19 Mangrol Cricket Tournament. Sainath Sports Club won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Put in to bat, P.J. Hindu Gymkhana piled up 165 runs in their full quota of 40 overs. Middle order batter Rahul top scored with a 33-ball 35. On the other hand, Aryan Mandavkar wreaked havoc with the ball as he scalped 4-36 in eight overs. Mandavkar bowled a couple of maiden overs and struck with a hat-trick.
In reply, Sainath Sports Club made light work of the run chase as they completed the formalities in just 32 overs. The opening pair of Sarvesh Yadav (56 runs off 71 balls) and Tanish Meher stitched a 107 run partnership in 19.2 overs. before the former was run out. Mumbai: Brilliant batting performances from Preet Nanda, who cracked an unbeaten 109 runs (89-balls, 6x4s, 4x6s) and Gaurav Kumar who scored 100 runs (76-balls, 9x4s, 4x6s) powered National Cricket Club to a 95-run victory against a fighting Mumbai Police Gymkhana in a second round Group-C match of the MCA Under-19 Cricket Tournament 2021-22, organized by Mangrol Sports Club in association with Pulse Sports Events Entertainment and played at the Mumbai Police Gymkhana ground.
Batting first, National CC bolstered by the century efforts of Preet and Gaurav amassed a huge total of 273 for 5 wickets from 40 overs. Mumbai Police Gymkhana fought hard and tried their best but could only manage to reach 178 for 8 wickets in 40 overs. Ali Siddhiqui top-scored with 56 runs and Saumil Malankar added 44 runs, while the other batsmen failed to stay long in the middle.
The other player who shared the limelight was Anshul Murli who smashed a 110-ball 140 runs which included 23 boundaries, which helped Bombay Gymkhana defeat Apollo CC by 68 runs in a Group-A match.

After losing some quick top order wickets, it was Ihsaan Amin at no.4 who changed the game with his brilliant knock of 86* off 48 balls. Ihsaan smashed 8 fours and 3 sixes at a strike rate of almost 180.00 batting till the very end and taking his team towards a defendable total.
YMCC gave a tough fight and the match remained exciting till the very last ball, however they fell short of just 1 run ending their innings at 150/4 in 20 overs. The top 4 batters of YMCC provided crucial cameos but eventually it was the Umelmaan bowlers Aniket Jivekar (2wkts) & Dhiraj Raut (2wkts) who had the upper hand helping Umelmaan win the match by 1 run. Played at the Picturesque MIG Cricket Ground in Bandra, Shivaji Park Youngsters Sports Club opting to bat first scored a total of 218/3 in 40 overs. After a decent opening start, it was their no.3 and 4 batters Deepak Verma and Amit Sharma smashing crucial half centuries. Deepak scored 66 off 88 balls which included 8 boundaries while Amit Sharma remained unbeaten on 65* off 72 balls which included 2fours, 1six and lots of running between the wickets! Amit also stitched a crucial 102 run stand for the 4th wicket with Devam Sham (25*) to push their team to a respectable total.
Defending a total of 219, DY Patil Sports Academy were all out for 186 runs in 38.5 overs despite a brilliant start by their openers Abhigyan Kundu (50 runs) and Bhaiyakumar Shreyash (54 runs) smashing half centuries. All-Rounder Amit Sharma owned the day as he returned with match winning bowling performance of 6/38 in 5.5 overs providing crucial breakthroughs with his leg-spin including the prized wicket of opener Bhaiyakumar who was looking well settled. Mumbai: Prateek Yadav compiled a match-winning 95-ball 101 runs to steer Victory CC to a 117-run win against Sind SC in a second round Group-E match of the MCA Under-19 Cricket Tournament 2021-22, organized by Mangrol Sports Club in association with Pulse Sports Events Entertainment and played at the Sachivalaya Gymkhana ground.
Batting first, Victory CC scored 253 for 3 wickets from their 40 overs. Later, Victory dismissed Sind CC for a paltry 136 runs to complete their win.
Meanwhile, hosts and sponsors outfit Mangrol SC riding on the half century efforts of Parshad Bodke 65 runs and Tejas Chavan 56 runs defeated Shivaji Park Gymkhana by 123 runs in Group-H encounter. Mangrol who were sent in to bat amassed a huge score of 216 for 6 wickets from 40 over and then they bowled out the opponents for a dismal 90 in 28.1 overs.
MIG CC’s Sumeir Zaveri also scored a century, clubbing a 93-ball unbeaten 104 runs but his efforts went in vain as they suffered a 2-wicket defeat at the hands of Parsee Gymkhana. MIG were bowled out for 228 runs in their innings. But, Parsee Gym batted with plenty of gumption and easily surpassed the total making 229 for 8 wickets in 38 overs. Nutan Goel 91 runs and Kush Kariya 44 runs ensured Parsee Gym’s victory.

The second edition of the Sandeep Dahad Cricket Foundation’s U12 Thane Junior League (TJL) was played between March 31 and April 3. TJL was held at Central Maidan in Thane. A total of 12 teams from across Thane and Mumbai participated in the tournament. These teams were divided into four groups. Every team played two league matches. The top four teams qualified for the semi-finals. The final of the TJL was played between Pravin Tambe Cricket Academy of Mulund and Indiana Cricket Clinic of Vikhroli. Pravin Tambe Cricket Academy clinched the championship.
At the end of the tournament, exciting prizes were given to the top performers. The man of the series was awarded with a bicycle, the best batsman won a bat and batting gloves, the best bowler was presented with bowling shoes, the best fielder was bestowed with shoes and spring stumps and the best captain was gifted Sourav Ganguly’s book on captaincy. Apart from this, the coaches of the winning team and the runner-up team were felicitated with mementos.
Sulakshan Kulkarni, former Ranji player and coach of India’s World Cup winning physically challenged team, Mayur Kadrekar, former India U19 player and Ranji player and Thane city MLA Sanjay Kelkar were the chief guests for the prize distriction.
