Asserting his dominance in the 2022 Irani Cup, the purple patch for Sarfaraz Khan. Scoring almost a run a ball 125* by the end of day 1, the Mumbaikar has made his case for the Indian Test Team. The 2022 Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy and now the Irani Cup, Sarfaraz continues to impress everyone.

Rest Of India plays Saurashtra in the 2022 Irani Cup to make up for the 2020 tournament where Saurashtra was supposed to play but due to the pandemic the one-off game didn’t take place. ROI asked the 2019-20 Ranji Trophy winner to bat first. The bowler’s did a fantastic job by bundling up Saurashtra for only 98.

Pranav Dhanawade, the wonderkid from Kalyan who scored a fictitious 1009* interacted with us in a cordial and candid interview. The conversation captured the young cricketer’s drive to thrive in the length and the breadth of cricket. Pranav talks about his career 6 years after the ridiculous feat.

Over the course of the interview, Pranav disclosed his engagements with cricket since his tender age. His feat of scoring more than 1000 runs in one inning was appreciated to which he responded that the event still feels surreal to him as he never thought about the possibility of scoring that amount let alone achieve it in reality. He also added that after setting the handsome record, he experienced a lot of ups and downs in life.

He drew attention to the 2020 lockdown which affected particularly his career as he wasn’t given an opportunity to perform in competitive cricket letting 2 years of the cricketing season go to waste. The record-breaker, despite the adversities, keeps his head high and pursues his dream with passion. Pranav now represents Victory Cricket Club in B Division of the Mumbai Circuit and  previously has played for Air India in corporate tournaments.

Pranav was invited by the Northwich Cricket Club, a club which is located 20 minutes away from the city of Manchester. Dhanawade was playing as an amatuer and performed brilliantly scoring 715 runs in his debut season with 1 emphatic century and 4 half-centuries to his name.

When asked about his future plans, Pranav was quite firm and clear. The wk-batsman aims to play for the Ranji Trophy Cricket and in the process also represent India on an international level.
