Kusum Warriors electing to bat first posted a very competitive total of 189/7 in 20 overs. Despite a dismal start to their innings, it was their all-rounder Deven Dhruva at no.4 who changed the game with his blazing knock of 65 runs in 32 balls. Deven went all guns blazing playing at a strike rate of 200.00+ wherein he smashed 6 fours and 4 sixes. Skipper Sahil Shah also gave a brilliant came in the death overs hitting a 22 ball 42 with 7 fours and a six.

On the other hand, SPS Superstars despite a good partnership of 108 runs between Kanishka Panalal (53) & Jigar Shah (51) somehow could not manage to keep up with the required run rate as they could only reach a total of 161/3 in 20 overs. Harsh Shah down the order tried his best with a 19 ball 38* but it was Kusum Warriors which clinched a win by 28 runs.

 

Played between Brothers Club and Young Parsee CC at the Cross Maidan,  Brothers CC opting to bat first posted a total of 231/9 in 45 overs with opener Sushant Kadam top scoring with 66 off 87 balls. Apart from him, Haresh Dodia (38), Sameeran Chalke (30) & Kishor Waghela (30) chipped in with handy cameos.

 

Defending a total of 232, it was their skipper and experienced campaigner Kishor Waghela coming up with a match winning spell of 5/32 in 8 overs. Kishor who was bang on providing breakthroughs at the right junctures while he was nicely supported by the other bowlers too. Sushant Kadam who top scored 66 also bagged two wickets as Brothers Club won the match in a dominating fashion.

Into the all important finals of Mumbai University vs Bhopal University at the ITM Turf, Bhopal University batting first could muster a total of 173/8 in 40 overs with opener Abhishek Sangwan top scoring with 56 runs. From the fast bowlers, pace express Aman Sheoran with 3/19 and Harsh Tanna with 2/19 in 6 overs were the pick of the lot.

Chasing a total of 174, Mumbai University made it look quite easy thanks to their openers Siddarth Akre and Japjeet Randhawa who stitched an unbeaten 175* run stand in mere 28.2 overs. Akre scored a quickfire 100* which had 11 fours and 4 sixes while the in-form Japjeet played the anchors role with an unbeaten 59* (5 fours).

In the semi finals too, it was their opener Japjeet Singh who laid the foundation for chase vs Shivaji University Kolhapur with a polished knock of 88* in 107 balls (10 fours). In the same match no.3 batsman Onkar Jadhav had scored an 82 ball 90*with a 2nd wicket partnership of 192* runs with Japjeet. Aman Sheoran had taken a 4wkt haul in the semis too while left arm pacer Harsh Tanna with 8 scalps in 3 games has also been quite a revelation for Mumbai Cricket.

Mumbai University bring trophy home winning the West Zone Tournament where in Japjeet Singh Randhawa was declared “Best Batsman” scoring 206 runs in 4 games @108.00 while Harsh Tanna was declared the “Best Bowler” of the tournament’

Played between Abhinav Vidyamandir and Tree House High School at the Sainath Sports Club Virar, Tree House High School after being put to bat first had a batting feast on their hands as their openers Jas Upadhyay & Shubham Pillai stitched a massive 392 run opening stand for the 1st wicket. While Jas scored an impressive 177 off 112 balls (24 fours, 3 sixes), it was Shubham Pillai who went on to score a massive 223* in mere 149 balls (29 fours). We can proudly mention that Shubham is Cricketgraph’s U12 Talent who was also recently spotted in the Cricketgraph’s Selection Trials for Bhaskar Thakur Memorial Tournament. The trials were courtesy to SKP Athletics Club President Suraj Samat that we could unearth one raw talent.

It was on the back of some brilliant batting by Shubham & Jas, Tree House School scored a massive total of 499/2 in 45 overs. If that was not enough, Shubham also came up with a stunning spell of 5/5 in 3.2 overs to dismantle the opp team for just 81 runs all out clinching a commanding win over Abhinav Vidyamandir School.

Played between All Saints High School and Thane Police at the Thane Police Ground, All Saints team opting batting first posted a healthy total of 248/7 in 45 overs.  With wickets tumbling from the other end, it was Raj Patil at no.3 perfectly playing the no.3 role to perfection. Raj smashed a classy 101 off 104 balls laced with 11 boundaries. Raj not only kept the scoreboard ticking but also dodged the bowlers confidently to ensure his team reached a defendable total.

Thane Police team in reply were cleaned up for 134 runs in 30.4 overs thanks to a game changing spell by Ayush Andhure who took 5/28 in 11 overs coupled with 2 maidens. Yuvraj Vagal also lended good support as he bagged 3 wkts to ensure his team remained in a commanding position.

 

All Saints School Team won the match by 114 runs while it was Raj showing brilliant composure with the bat and Ayush taking care of the bowling department.

Mumbai, January 7: Taher Kudrati hogged the limelight with a solid batting performance as he struck 88 runs to power Dhirubhai Ambani International School to a massive 135 runs victory against Aditya Birla World Academy in a Group-A league match on the opening day of the inaugural Bombay Gymkhana Inter-School T20 Cricket Tournament, played at the Gymkhana’s ground on Tuesday.

Dhirubhai Ambani electing to bat first scored freely and amassed a huge total of 177 for 5 wickets, in 20 overs. Taher innings came off just 61 balls and was studded with 15 boundaries. Abhiraj Goel contributed 30 runs.

Aditya Birla were unable to stay long in the middle and were bowled out for just 42 runs in 12.2 overs. Dhirubhai Ambani bowlers Arhan Maker (2 for 5), Abhiviraj (2 for 2) and Rishi Mody (2 for 4) shared the wickets.

Later in a low-scoring match, Gopi Birla Memorial School defeated G.D. Somani Memorial School by eight wickets in a Group-B league match.

Sent in to bat first, G.D. Somani could only score 70 runs for 8 wickets, in 20 overs. Neil Verma 22 runs and Yash More 15 runs lifted the total. In  reply, Gopi Birla scored 71 for 2 wickets, in 11.3 overs with Dishant Shah (25 not out) and Armaan Rathod (18 not out) taking the team to victory.

Group-B: G.D. Somani Memorial School 70 for 8 wickets, in 20 overs (Neil Verma 22, Yash More 15; Dishant Shah 2 for 9) lost to Gopi Birla Memorial School 71 for 2 wickets, in 11.3 overs (Dishant Shah 25*, Armaan Rathod 18*; Swesh Gala 2 for 18) by 8 wickets.

Season 8

Avengers XI after being put to bat first at Chereshwar Club, Trombay posted a big total of 198/4 in 20 overs. Opener Rohit Katti (34) gave a solid start while it was Arpan Tibrewal at no.4 scoring a game changing 70 off 48 balls laced with 10 fours and 1 six. Arpan also received good support from Swastik Kini who came up with a brilliant finishing cameo of 36* in mere 17 balls, a knock which included 2 fours and 3 sixes alongwith Arbaz Pathan’s 19* off 12 balls as Avengers batsman batted well in the death overs.

HAS Challengers in reply failed to keep up with the momentum as they were bundled out for 80 runs in 16.4 overs. It was a dismal batting performance with as many as 8 players getting out in single digits. The bowlers did an amazing job with Smit Ajani (3/11 in 4 overs with a maiden) & Kartik Kulat (3/32 in 4 overs) emerging to be the best bowlers for Avengers. Dhananjay Purohit also proved to be quite handy with his economical spell of 1/11 with a maiden in 2.4 overs.

Result-Avengers XI win the match by 118 runs and Arpan Tibrewal declared “Man of the Match”

Played at the Vengsarkar Academy, Mahul, AHC Smashers opting to bat first posted a decent total of 160/7 in 20 overs. Even though they lacked someone who could score big but the good part was all their batsman chipped in with cameos of 10’s and 20’s with opener Ajay Thakur’s 29 being the highest score. From the bowlers, Ravi Sarangan with 2/26 in 4 overs was the pick of the lot.

Edifice Consultants in reply were off to a flying start with openers Mahesh Hirpara and Sumeet V (42 off 44) putting on 70 runs for the 1st wicket. Mahesh laid the foundation with a quick 22 ball 44 (7 fours, 2 sixes) which changed the momentum in edifice’s favor. Middle order players Viren Talreja at no.3 (35 off 21) & Sagar Chauhan at no.5 (26* off 11) did the finishing work as Edifice chased down the score in mere 16.4 overs.

Result- Edifice Consultants won the match by 7 wkts while Mahesh Hirpara for his all-round performance of 44 runs & 1 wicket was declared ‘”man of the match”

T20 MASTERS CUP (YELLOW) CRICKET TOURNAMENT 2019-20, 4th January 2020 : The quarter final match between HDFC bank and SBI Life Insurance was played at ELF Vengsarkar Oval Ground, on 5th January’20. SBI won the toss and elected to bowl first.The match was organized by Oneworld of sports.

HDFC openers failed to make a mark but no.3 batsman Darshan Jaitpal continued his purple patch bludgeoning the bowlers right from the start and scored a fierce 61 runs off 43 balls hitting 9 fours. Middle order batsman Nishit Dhulap (46 off 23), a seasoned campaigner also put the finishing touches along with young turk Siddhant T(36 off 20) to thrust the total to 186 runs in 20 overs losing 5 wickets. SBI bowlers Ganesh Partole and Jinesh Bothra picked up couple of wickets. Sandeep shinde went for 62 runs in 5 overs taking only 1 wicket.

Chasing a big target, SBI needed strong partnerships but the team lacked those and adding to that, the bowling assenal of HDFC was at the top of the game on that day. No.4 Darshan Shetya played very well and piled up an unbeaten innings of 46 runs off 35 balls. Except him, no other batsmen really put up a great show. They were able to score 141 runs in 20 overs losing 8 wickets. HDFC’s Ninad Kadam, the veteran left arm spinner of HDFC picked up a triplet. All the bowlers performed well on a pretty flat deck. A complete performance by both and ball propelled them comprehensively to the semi finals.

Result – HDFC BANK won the mass by 46 runs.

Season 2

Into the all important finals at the Yashwant Nagar Cricket Ground in Virar, Buddies Cricket Club opting to bat first could only muster a total of 84/9 in 16 overs. It was a really tight bowling performance with all the bowlers chipping in while Akash and Mayur Mangela being the pick of the lot with 2 wickets each.

Chasing 85 looked like a mere formality for the Kings XI Virar team who have been excellent throughout the tournament. Even though Kings XI Virar faced some early blows with scoreboard reading 19/3, it was all rounder Mayur Mangela who changed the game with a brilliant 53* off 35 balls laced with 4 fours and 4 sixes. Mayur single handedly turned the game with his blazing half century under pressure as Kings XI Virar won the game by 6 wkts in just 13.3 overs.

With this win, Kings XI Virar also become the winners of the BCC Cricket Championship League’19. Naresh Pardeshi was declared the ‘Best Bowler of the tournament”, Mayur Mangela was declared the “Best Batsman” of the tournament” while Ravi Shah (BCC) was declared “Man of the Series”
