From the bowlers, Dhanit Raut came up with a sensational spell taking 5/76 in 26 overs coupled with 6 maidens. Dhanit looks in good touch this season and this particular spell was bang on as he stood apart from the other bowlers on that particular day.

Mumbai on the other hand posted a mammoth total of 592 runs thanks to a 200 run stand for the 3rd wicket between Suved Parkar and Pragnesh Kanpillewar. Pragnesh who has 5 tons in Cooch Behar this season smashed a majestic 283 ball 120 frustrating the Bengal bowlers to the hilt while the classy Suved who is known to convert his hundreds into big scores stayed true to his reputation scoring 299 off 351 balls. Just one short of a deserving triple hundred, it was Karan Lal taking his wicket at a time when no Cricket lover would want him to take the wicket of parkar!

Parkar who is another product of SVIS lives up to his school’s legacy of churning out talented cricketers. Back in his U16 Days, Parkar had scored a triple hundred in Harris Shield without hitting a single six running hard between the wickets. It was during that time itself, he had displayed his temperament & technique. Also the way, he smashes fast bowlers to the covers reminds in more ways than one of Rohit Sharma (his SVIS Senior).

Bengal in the 2nd innings batted for 56 overs with the loss of just 2 wickets and 156 runs on the board at the end of the game’s play where the match ended in draw. Mumbai post this match cruise into the semis with Suved Parkar (847) and Pragnesh Kanpillewar (979 runs) topping the leaderboards this season in the Cooch Behar.

Avengers XI batting first at Vengsarkar Academy, Mahul posted a not so threatening total of 138/8 in 20 overs. It was a top order collapse with none of the top 5 batsman managing to make much of an impact however crucial cameos by Arbaaz Pathan (28) & Nitin thomrbo’s 23* down the order helped them put something respectable on the board. From the bowlers, Bhuddev Yadav with 4/24 in 4 overs was bang on right on the money.

Hellbenders in reply chased down the target in mere 12.5 overs thanks to first the quick opening start by Parag Mestry (37 off 18) and Raj Desai (29* off 30). Parel SC were off to a decent start with openers Vicky Patil (33) and Karan Sonavale (pic above) putting on 70 runs for the 1st wicket. Sonavale who has been amongst the runs this season once again scored a handsome 68 off 105 balls.

Shikhar Mehta

However, Parel SC lost a few quick wickets in between but it was their all-rounder Shikhar Mehta at no.8 pulling off a blinder with a ravishing knock of 80* in mere 50 balls. Seems like the productive county season for Shikhar where he was amongst the runs as well wickets have worked well for him as he slogged at a strike rate of 160.00 hitting 11 fours and 4 sixes.

However, those efforts were not enough to save his team as he lacked support from the other end. Monu Chauhan came up with a brilliant spell of 5/59 in 17.1 overs which proved to be quite crucial. Left arm spinner Kunal Thorat also came good his spell of 4/96 in 20 overs as Parel SC were all out for 295/10 in 66.1 overs.

Result-Fort Vijay CC won the match by 97 runs
