On December 20, SRS Elite thrashed PCACS by 172 runs during the league match of the 5A Dashing Cup in Navi Mumbai. SRS Elite won the toss and elected to bat.
Riding on Vicky’s brilliant 86 off 42, SRS Elite posted a daunting score of 218/4 in 20 overs. Opening the batting, Vicky hammered 11 boundaries and four sixes in his entertaining innings. With his opening partner Siddhesh Gavande (46), Vicky stitched a 104-run partnership in just 9.4 overs. Nikhil Patil (53) and captain Ashwin Mali (25 not out), too, made valuable contributions with the bat. On the other hand, Rudransh was the pick of the bowlers for PCACS with 24/2 in four overs.
In reply, PCACS were bowled out for a paltry 46 in 13.5 overs, losing the match by 172 runs. Besides captain Varun Thakkar (26), none of the PCACS’ batters scored in double digits. Thakkar held the innings together from one end and batted till the 14th over. On the other hand, SRS Elite’s Shreyas Vaidya (6/3) and Atharva Bhosale (2/3) were the most successful bowlers, with three scalps apiece.
On December 21, Patel Cricket Coaching Centre handed a crushing 224-run defeat to Raj CA during the Dream 11 Dilip Vengsarkar Cricket Cup U16.
Batting first, Patel Cricket Coaching Centre posted a daunting total of 323/3 in 35 overs. Opening batter Arush smashed a delightful 139 off 100, hitting 19 boundaries and three sixes. Shlok Sawant chipped in with an unbeaten 74 off 57, muscling six fours and one six. On the other hand, Raj CA’s Harshad was the pick of the bowlers with 44/2 in seven overs.
In reply, Raj CA made a mess of the run chase as they were bowled out for a paltry 99 in 25.4 overs. It was Harshad again with the bat for Raj CA as he top-scored with 25. On the other hand, Patel Cricket Coaching Centre’s Muhammad Taha wreaked havoc with the ball, scalped 13/6 in five overs.
Our Own Club achieved a monumental victory against Hind Sevak Cricket Club in the pre-quarters of the Cosmopolitan Shield. After winning the toss, Hind Sevak CC opted to field first but this decision backfired drastically.
Our Own Club posted a supreme total of 389 in just 44.2 overs. Despite getting bowled out, almost every batsmen contributed in quick time but it was Ajit Pahalwan who stole the show. Ajit hammered a record century in just 37 balls as he ended up scoring a whopping 145 in just 57 balls with 13 fours and 12 sixes. His innings put Our Own Club in the driving seat. Apart from him, NIshant Kambli and Neil Narvekar contributed 76 and 71 respectively in the middle order. Their batting innings consisted of 20 sixes and 36 fours in total.
In a low scoring contest, Dadar Parsee Colony Sports Club and Khar Gymkhana clashed against each other during the Young Comrade Shield. The match was played on December 17 and 18. Khar Gymkhana won the toss and elected to bat.
Batting first, Khar Gymkhana were all out for 179 in 40.1 overs. Despite Hiken Shah (54) and Parag Khanapurkar (50) striking half-centuries, Khar Gymkhana failed to post a formidable score. On the other hand, Dadar Parsee Colony Sports Club’s Yogesh Sawant was the most successful bowler with 36/3.
In reply, Dadar Parsee Colony Sports Club had a horrid day with the bat as they were castled for 124 in 39 overs. They lost the game by 55 runs. Kaustubh Kolambar took the attack to the opposition with a gritty 35 but could not complete the formalities. On the other hand, Khar Gymkhana’s Parag Khanapurkar starred with the ball accounting for 20/3.
Cricket Club of India (CCI) thrashed United Cricketers by 217 runs during the Young Comrade Shield in a lopsided affair. The match was played on December 17 and 18.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, CCI piled up a mammoth 435/5 in 70 overs. Riding on Chinmay Sutar’s stellar double-century, CCI put together a formidable score. Sutar’s stroke-filled 213 was well-complimented by Saksham Parashar’s 74, Sujit Nayak’s 63, and Aarya Satpute’s 46.
Chasing 436 would not be easy, and United Cricketers would have to fight out of their skin to achieve the target. However, United Cricketers perished for 218 in 55 overs. Jagdish Jadhav (81) and Rahul Chandorkar (43) fought hard but failed to cross the line for their team. On the other hand, Irfan Umair was the pick of the bowlers for CCI with 32/3.
Parkophene Cricketers took on Karnatak Sporting Association during the Young Comrade Shield. The match was played on December 17 and 18. Parkophene Cricketers won the toss and elected to bat.
Riding on Bhupen Lalwani’s scintillating double-century, Parkophene Cricketers posted a massive total of 393/3 in 70 overs. Lalwani muscled an unbeaten 203 and played some stunning shots in his blitzkrieg. He found an ally in Ayush Jethwa, who blasted an undefeated 138. On the other hand, Karnatak Sporting Association’s bowlers had no answers to Lalwani and Jethwa’s onslaught.
In reply, Karnatak Sporting Association were bowled out for 252 in 53.1 overs, and they lost the game by 141 runs. Gautam Waghela (77) and Gaurish Jadhav (50) fought hard with their valiant half-centuries but failed to take their team home. On the other hand, Rajesh Sardar was the most successful bowler for Parkophene Cricketers as he scalped 60/3.
Dadar Union Sports Club handed a crushing eight-wicket defeat to Goregaon Sports Club during the Young Comrade Shield. The match was played on December 17 and 18. Goregaon Sports Club won the toss and chose to bat.
Opting to bat first, Goregaon Sports Club did not have the best of outings with the bat as they were bowled out for 141 in 27.2 overs. Dadar Union Sports Club’s Shubham Pandey wreaked havoc with the ball as he scalped 45/6. On the other hand, Goregaon Sports Club’s Jiniv Joshi was the lone warrior in the fight, with a score of 37.
In reply, Dadar Union Sports Club cruised to the target in 25.4 overs at the loss of just two wickets. Onkar Jadhav and Siddharth Akre stitched a match-winning partnership to steer their side home. While Jadhav muscled an unbeaten 80, Akre hammered an undefeated 42.
P.J. Hindu Gymkhana pipped Shivaji Park Gymkhana by 169 runs during the Young Comrade Shield. The match was played on December 17 and 18. P.J. Hindu Gymkhana won the toss and opted to bat.
Electing to bat first, P.J. Hindu Gymkhana made the most of the opportunity as they piled up a challenging total of 329/9 in 70 overs. Jash Ganiga top-scored with a brilliant 77 and Viraj Jadhav made a useful contribution of 70. Besides Ganiga and Jadhav, Yogesh Dongre (40), Rahul Sawant (37 not out), Blns Neyyoth (37) chipped in with the bat. On the other hand, Varun Joijode was the pick of the bowlers for Shivaji Park Gymkhana with 97/3.
In response, Shivaji Park Gymkahan succumbed to pressure and were bowled out cheaply for 160 in 52 overs. Mairaj Khan (42) and Parth Pathak (31) showed some resistance but could not take their team home. On the other hand, for P.J. Hindu Gymkhana, Rahul Sawant rattled the opposition with 55/6. Atharva Bhosale also had a good outing with the ball, claiming 41/3.
Sind Sports Club and Young Maharashtra Cricket Club met during the Young Comrade Shield. The match was played on December 17 and 18. Sind Sports Club won the toss and elected to bat.
Sind Sports Club piled up a challenging score of 342/6 in 70 overs, thanks to Awais Khan’s brilliant 105. Khan played some stunning shots in his entertaining innings and guided his team to a daunting total. Ramanpreet Singh (88) and Sumit Meher (62) crafted delightful half-centuries and helped their team’s cause.
Chasing a mammoth 343, Young Maharashtra Cricket Club were bowled out for a paltry 138 in 43 overs. Ayush Raghuvanshi was the lone warrior in the fight, scoring 40, but his knock failed to see his side home. On the other hand, Sind Sports Club’s Hemant Buchade was the wrecker-in-chief, picking up 43/5 and Aditya Dhumal’s 36/3 complimented Buchade’s fifer.
Regal Cricket Club and Dr. D.Y.Patil Sports Academy locked horns against each other during the Young Comrade Shield. The match was played on December 17 and 18. Regal Cricket Club won the toss and elected to bat.
Batting first, Regal Cricket Club had an off day at the office as they were skittled out for a paltry 137 in 42.1 overs. Roneet Thakur top-scored with 32 but failed to find a company with the bat. On the other hand, Dr. D.Y.Patil Sports Academy’s Aman Khan (21/3) and Prince Badiani (24/3) were the most successful bowlers, with three scalps each.
In response, Dr. D.Y. Patil Sports Academy made light work of the run chase as they completed the formalities in 10.3 overs. Aman Khan led the run chase from the front and smashed a stroke-filled 126 not out. Khan powered his side to a comprehensive 10-wicket win. On the other hand, Regal Cricket Club’s bowlers failed to pick up a single wicket.
