Shiv Seva Cricket Club defeated hosts MCC ‘A’ by three wickets to clinch the MCC Under-12 Talent Search Cricket League trophy, organised By jwala sports foundation played over 25-over per side at Air India Sport Club ground, Santacruz (East), yesterday.
Opting to bat first on a bowler-friendly pitch, MCC ‘A’ batters struggled all the way and could manage only 113 for the loss of seven wickets. However, Shiv Seva batters, too, made heavy weather before they triumphed by three wickets.
Earlier, in the semifinals, Shiv Seva CC did well to rattle up 158 for three against Dalvi CA and then bundled out their opponents for 110.

This zinc sunscreen offers protection against dangerous UV rays and minimises the chances of acquiring skin-related problems, including rashes, burning, irritation, wrinkles, ageing, and even skin cancer. So, how does zinc sunscreen work?
Properties of a zinc sunscreen
A zinc sunscreen, also referred to as a physical sunscreen, can stay on top of the skin for longer durations. While playing cricket, cricketers tend to sweat profusely. Therefore, the players prefer zinc sunscreen, which is not easily absorbed into the body. Zinc sunscreen is sweat-resistant, water resistant and oil-free, which makes it strong enough to stay on top of the skin. Apart from these qualities, zinc sunscreen is a natural product and not chemical-based. It contains the mineral zinc. Since it is a natural product, the chances of getting any side effects are minuscule.
Choosing the best zinc sunscreen for cricketers
While there is a wide range of zinc sunscreens available in the market, it is paramount for a cricketer to choose the best one. So, how can the cricketers select the best zinc sunscreen? Here are some of the criteria that they must consider before making the purchase:
First, the key is the SPF (Sun Protection Factor) of the zinc sunscreen. You will come across zinc sunscreens with SPF 30 and SPF 50, to name a few. What do these different SPF numbers indicate? A zinc sunscreen with SPF 30 offers protection against 97 percent of the UV rays emitted by the scorching sun. In other words, a zinc sunscreen with SPF 30 allows only three percent of the UV rays emitted by the sun to hit the skin of the zinc sunscreen applicant. On the other hand, a zinc sunscreen with SPF 50 protects 98 percent of the harmful UV rays emitted by the sun and lets only two percent of the rays hit the skin.
Second, the composition of zinc sunscreen is crucial. As the name suggests, zinc sunscreen is made up of the mineral zinc. The white-coloured zinc particles can protect the wearer of the sunscreen against the harmful UV rays emitted by the sun. Apart from zinc, some zinc sunscreens contain aloe vera, adding to the sunscreen’s naturalness. Natural zinc sunscreens are suitable for any skin type and seldom cause side effects.
Third, a zinc sunscreen that can be easily washed off with warm water and face wash is considered good. If the cricketers cannot get rid of their zinc sunscreen after the game with warm water and face wash, then there is some issue with the zinc sunscreen used.

The finals of the RCC 7th Anniversary Tournament 2022-23 was played between RCC Unbeatable and RCC Smashers were the latter prevailed in an exciting run chase. RCC Unbeatable won the toss and elected to bat first in the finale.
RCC Unbeatable managed to score a subpar total of 143 in 25 overs losing 8 wickets in the process. Opener Himashu Sharma scored an anchoring 62 off 80 balls with 7 boundaries. He was forced to play a gritty knock for his team as the other end collapsed. At 23-4, Soham Kolambekar entered and had a brief partnership with Himanshu as he contributed 43 runs with 3 boundaries and a six in quick time.
The Smasher’s bowling card looked quite economical. Yash Zaware and Harsh Pawar claimed 2 wickets each at an economy rate of under 6. The united effort of the bowling unit made the batsman’s job in the second innings easy.
RCC Smasher’s wicket keeper Ishan Navghane provided a steady start to the runchase with 37 runs off 55 balls but the power punch came from the all-rounder, Yash Zaware who hammered a match winning knock of 56 off just 44 deliveries. After a skillful display of bowling, Zaware impressed with his strokeplay as he hammered 5 boundaries and a six. By the 22nd over, Smashers had sealed the game with 5 wickets in hand.
RCC Smashers were the winners of the RCC 7th Anniversary Tournament 2022-23 and Yash Zaware was adjudged as the Man of the Match for his all-round display.
During their Times Shield clash, Nanavati Hospital pipped Mumbai Division Sports Association by 80 runs.
Nanavati Hospital’s bowlers had a brilliant outing and posed tough questions to Mumbai Division Sports Association’s batters. Vighnesh Solanki, Farhan Kazi, and Tushar Kadam bowled well in tandem and rattled the opposition with their consistency. The terrific trio hit the right straps and yielded rich dividends.
While Solanki and Kazi scalped seven wickets apiece, Kadam accounted for six. At the end of the match, their bowling figures read as Solanki 76/7 in 25.4 overs, Kazi 73/7 in 30 overs, and Kadam 46/6 in 16.4 overs.
On the other hand, Mumbai Division Sports Association’s Onkar Jadhav (34) and Ashay Dube (40) fought hard in the first innings with the bat. In the second innings, it was Dube (39) again with the bat, accompanied by Arvind Patel (42).
RCC Smashers scored a competitive total in the first innings of 154 in 25 overs against RCC Bulls in the RCC 7th Anniversary Tournament 2022-23. Pradnyankur Bhalerao played a captain’s innings of 62 runs in 53 deliveries on a difficult pitch. Ishan Navghane contributed 35 at the top as well but other than them, no other batsman passed the 20 runs mark. On the bowling side Moksh Kamble claimed 3 wickets in his 4 overs.
Bulls had the upper hand after the first innings but that quickly changed as Smashers made a crucial comeback with the ball. Raivath Yadav’s spell of 4 overs ,13 runs and 3 wickets, toppled the Bull’s batting order. This ultimately resulted in them getting restricted at 127 for 8 in 25 overs as Smashers won the game by 27 runs.
Don Bosco High School Matunga took on Mumbai Police School during the DSO U17 Cricket Tournament on December 26 at Azad Maidan, Mumbai. Mumbai Police School won the toss and elected to field.
Put into bat first, Don Bosco piled up 129/2 in 10 overs. Riding on Shravan’s unbeaten 59, which came off just 25 balls, Don Bosco put up a daunting total on board. Shravan hammered eight boundaries and a six in his entertaining innings. On the other hand, Mumbai Police School’s Uqba and Prince were the only wicket-takers.
In reply, Mumbai Police School were bowled out for a paltry 28, losing the match by 101 runs. Uqba was the lone warrior in the fight, scoring 10 for Mumbai Police School. On the other hand, Dos Bosco’s Arnav Gupta was the wrecker-in-chief with the ball, scalping five wickets.
Siddhesh Jadhav scored an emphatic 132* for Redbox India against the Royal Strikers CC. Batting first, Redbox India hammered a thundering 286 in just 25 overs losing 2 wickets. in the process. Siddhesh Jadhav opened the innings and contributed 132 off just 73 deliveries with 19 fours to his name. Scoring at a strike rate of 180.82, Jadhav’s ton came in quick time. He formed a 208-run partnership with Kamal who also scored 90 off 47 runswith 7 fours and 5 sixes.
Their commanding partnership gave them the upper hand as the bowler’s sealed the game for Redbox India in the second innings.

Gr. Mumbai Police Sports Club ‘A’ and Space Sports Club locked horns against each other from December 27 to 29 during the Times Shield. These two teams form a part of the ‘B’ Division in the tournament.
Batting first, Space Sports Club posted 299 in 95.3 overs. Gautam Waghela (92) and Rugved More (124 not out) were the star performers with the bat for Space Sports Club. While Waghela smashed 13 boundaries, More hammered 14 and cleared the rope thrice. On the other hand, Gr. Mumbai Police Sports Club’s Yogesh Patil was the pick of the bowlers with 56/4.
In reply, Gr. Mumbai Police Sports Club were bowled out for 168 in 60.5 overs. Siddhant Singh top-scored with 63 for Gr. Mumbai Police Sports Club. On the other hand, Space Sports Club’s Siddharth Mhatre was the most successful bowler with 14/3.
Taking a healthy lead of 131, Space Sports Club added another 80 runs for the loss of two wickets in the second innings. Picking up from where he had left in the first innings, Rugved More chipped in with an unbeaten 22 off 32. On the other hand, Yogesh Patil and Atharv Bhagat claimed one scalp apiece for Gr. Mumbai Police Sports Club.
Chasing 212, Gr. Mumbai Police Sports Club got off to a flying start, scoring 65/1 in 10 overs. Rohit Pol took the attack to the opposition with his 25-ball 42, which included three boundaries and four sixes. For Space Sports Club, Varun Joijode was the lone wicket-taker.
The match between CGST and Mafatlal ended in a draw, with Space Sports Club taking a first-innings lead.
Arnav Lad impressed everyone with his magical spell of 9 wickets giving away only 6 runs in the process. Playing for Swami Vivekanand International School, Gorai against the Anjuman I-Islam Allana English, the former had a strong beginning to the game as Anjuman I-Islam were bowled out for just 66 runs in the two-day interschool Giles Shield Tournament. This result was only possible due to Arnav’s spell as he claimed 9 out of 10 Anjuman I-Islam wickets.
Despite having the lead, SVIS were bowled out early for 105 on the tricky pitch in their first innings. Day 1 ended with Anjuman I-Islam trailing. Lad picked up 5 wickets in the second innings and pushed his finally wickets tally to a grand 14.
SVIS won the game and have qualified for the semi finals.
Rohit Sharma is a supremely talented sidearmer from Haryana who has made his way from rags to now being appointed as the official sidearm feeder of the Indian Railways Ranji Trophy Cricket Team. Having worked hard the last two years, Sharma finally received his big break when he was contracted by the Railways team.
Rohit Sharma has experienced an incredible journey so far. From dreaming of playing cricket for India at the age of 11 to playing for his district & DDCA, an injury which nullified his dream to being almost on the verge of breaking into an IPL team, Rohit has been through immense trauma, overcame and worked hard for each and every achievement. With passion, dedication and little fortune along the way, he finally got a well deserved break by getting contracted with the Indian Railways Ranji Trophy Team for the 2022-23 season. This provides him with an opportunity to work with players such as Karn Sharma, Upendra Yadav and Shivam Chaudhary.
I am more than grateful for the Indian Railways team and management for giving me an opportunity to work with them. I have been waiting for something like this for a long time now and it seems I’ve gradually started reaping the rewards. After a switch to sidearm in the 2019-20 season due to a career-threatening injury, Sharma developed innate feeding skillset when sidearm careers were on a rise. Under the supervision of Ranji Trophy player Chandra Pal Saini, Sharma amplified his abilities as he worked with top quality players. This improved his consistency, accuracy and speed making him a hot commodity instantly. Fast forward two years and Sharma is touring with the Indian Railways Team.
Over the years, Rohit has worked with top level IPL, Indian and State Level Cricketers right from the likes of Shikhar Dhawan (India & IPL), Mohit Sharma (India & IPL), Robin Bist (India A & IPL), Jayant Yadav (IPL), Rahul Tewatia (IPL), Shahbaz Ahmed (IPL and India A) & Paras Dogra (IPL player) to name a few.
