Gautam Waghela’s 248-ball 123 enabled Space Sports Club to log 360 for 7 wickets and take a crucial first innings lead in the three day B Division clash of the Times Shield against Western Railway Sports Association B at Mahalaxmi. Mumbai Police had a torrid game against Repro in the Times Shield. Batting first, Mumbai Police were bolwed out for just 192 in the 48th over. Ruturaj Sane (59 off 68) and Yogesh Patil (52 off 32) played crucial innings for their team but unfortunately 192 wasn’t enough. Sumit Markarli produced a stellar spell of 5 for 49 in his 14 overs with 3 maidens. Alongside him, Yash Mahale claimed 5 wickets as well. In a partnership, they toppled Mumbai Police’s defenses.
The Repro batsmen had a dominating outing with the bat as they declared with 344 runs on board with 3 wickets in hand. Openers Harsh Salunke (37 off 38) and Dhruv Thakkar (34 off 54) gave a steady start to the innings. Kuldeep Gehi clobbered a quick fire 83 off just 54 balls as southpaw Aryan Patni contributed 63. Despite them, Vishwajit Jagdale pushed the target with his 116 ball 84.
Trailing by 152 and losing the first innings lead, Mumbai fought for bragging rights but scored only 120-5 in their second innings as Yash Singh claimed 3 wickets.
Railways handed a crushing defeat by an innings and 73 runs to Jammu and Kashmir in the Elite Group D game of the Ranji Trophy. The match was played in Surat from January 3 to 6.
Batting first, Railways posted a mammoth 427 in 105.1 overs. Mohammad Saif was the star performer for the Railways. Saif scored a brilliant 233 off 293, including 30 boundaries and three sixes. The southpaw single-handedly powered Railways to a comprehensive total. On the other hand, Jammu and Kashmir’s Abid Mushtaq was the pick of the bowlers with 98/4 in 26.1 overs, including three maidens.
In reply, Jammu and Kashmir were bowled out for 161 in 60.3 overs and trailed by 266 runs. Suryansh Raina (48) and Musaif Ajaz (39) were the top contributors with the bat for Jammu and Kashmir. On the other hand, Akash Pandey wreaked havoc with the ball for the Railways as he claimed 49/6 in 21.3 overs, including four maidens.

Powai CA registered a comprehensive 10-wicket win against Bhosle CA on January 6 during the MD Memorial Cup. Powai CA chased down 110 in 13.2 overs.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Bhosle CA were restricted to a paltry 109/9 in 20 overs. Deep Kanojiya (22) and Vivaansh Ghosh (16) were the only batters to score in double digits for Bhosle CA. On the other hand, Powai CA’s Hridhan Singh Rauthan was the pick of the bowlers as he scalped 14/3 in four overs.
In reply, Powai CA cruised to the target in a jiffy. The opening pair of Atharva Kore (62 not out) and Vikas (28 not out) completed the formalities at a canter. Kore led the run chase from the front and smashed eight boundaries and a six in his entertaining knock. On the other hand, Bhosle CA’s bowlers had an off day as they failed to pick up even a single wicket.

In a lopsided affair, Don Bosco CA handed a crushing 10-wicket defeat to Little Star CA Powai on January 5 during the MD Memorial Cup.
Batting first, Little Star CA Powai were reduced to 89/5 in 20 overs. Captain Vedhanth Shetty top-scored with an unbeaten 27 off 52. On the other hand, Don Bosco CA’s Rihan Shah and Dev Nafade were the most successful bowlers. The duo claimed two wickets apiece.
In reply, Don Bosco CA made short work of the run chase as they completed the formalities in 14.2 overs. They won the match by 10 wickets. The opening pair of Tirtesh Mulay (36 not out) and Prateek (41 not out) powered their team to a comfortable win. While Mulay hammered four boundaries, Prateek muscled six. On the other hand, Little Star CA Powai’s bowlers had an off day at the office.

PAB Cricket Club defeated Little Star CA Powai in a low-scoring contest by 31 runs on January 6 during the MD Memorial Cup.
Put into bat first, PAB Cricket Club were bowled out for 98 in 19.3 overs. Riyan Terve was the lone warrior in the fight for PAB Cricket Club. Terve mustered 45 off 56, including four boundaries. On the other hand, Little Star CA Powai’s Arush Pundle wreaked havoc with the ball and scalped 13/5 in four overs. Pundle hit the right straps consistently and yielded rich dividends.
Chasing a modest total of 99, Little Star CA Powai failed to cross the line. They were bundled out for 67 in 15.1 overs and lost the game by 31 runs. Priyanshu Rajbhar fought hard for his 23 off 17 but could not find able-allies. On the other hand, PAB Cricket Club’s bowlers bowled well in tandem to defend the score. Ajay Pal, Amar Kadam, Harsh Patil, Vijay Pal, Sarthak Ambre, and Shardul Joshi claimed one wicket each.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, RC Sports Club were restricted to a modest total of 73/5 in 20 overs. Ayaansh Chitkara (29) and Ujjwal Singh (21) were the major contributors with the bat for RC Sports Club. On the other hand, Powai CA’s Hridhan Singh Rauthan was the most successful bowler with 6/3 in four overs, including two maidens.
In response, Powai CA overhauled the target in 9.1 overs and won the match by nine wickets. Atharva Kore was at the helm of the run chase. Kore smashed an undefeated 40 off 29, hitting six fours and clearing the rope once. On the other hand, Powai CA’s Yadnya Patil was the only wicket-taker for his side with 14/1 in two overs.
In the Times Shield Cricket Tournament, Nanavati and Mafatlal came to blows in an intense game of cricket as Nanavati won the game just by the skin of their teeth to say the least. The game witnessed numerous solo performances contributing towards the thriller. The toss was won by Mafatlal and they elected to bowl first.

Nanavati posted a first innings total of 347 as Bins Neyyoth missed out on a century by just 2 runs, Onkar Jadhav chipped in with a handy 89, so did Dinesh Pawar with crucial 62. Despite the massive total, the Mafatlal bowlers performed decent, Puneet Tripathi in particular who picked 5 wickets. he was well supported by Vishwanath Parmar who claimed 3.

In reply, Mafatlal managed only 258 as they were bowled out in just the 63rd over. Siddhant Aadhathrao played a fighting innings of 98 but lack of support from the other end meant Mafatlal were short by 89 runs. Soon enough, the game was about to be turned completely upside down in the second innings as a thundering comeback by Mafatlal bowlers saw Nanavati bowled out for just 85. Parmar and Tripathi claimed 3 each as a cumulative bowling performance saw the Nanvati batsmen crumble.

The target was set at 175 for Mafatlal to chase. Siddhaant Aadhhathrao once again contributed 48 alongside Prasad Patil who chipped in 44. By the 57th over, Mafatlal only had 1 wicket left in hand with a handful of runs to get. Despite Vishwanath Parmar’s fighting 38*, Mafatlal were bowled out at 173, losing by 1 run. Vighnesh Solanki’s magical spell of 92 for 5 saw with Farhan Kazi’s 4 wicket haul sealed the game narrowly for Nanavati.
