More than 300 runs were scored when RCC Avengers locked horns against RCC Warriors during the Champions League 2023 on January 22. RCC Avengers won the toss and elected to bat at the Roadpali Sports Complex in Panvel.
Batting first, RCC Avengers put together a respectable score of 157/8 in 20 overs. Ritesh Gowda (37) and Pravin Rahatade (37 not out) were the major contributors with the bat for RCC Avengers. On the other hand, Deepak Khasturi was the standout bowler for RCC Warriors, with 27/2 in three overs.
In reply, RCC Warriors scored 145/7 in 20 overs and fell shy of 12 runs in the end. Naushad Ahmed fought hard with a valiant 59 off 39 for RCC Warriors. Anuj Manjrekar was also impressive with a 38-ball 43. However, the duo failed to see their side home. For RCC Avengers, Vishal Take and Pravin Rahatade were the most successful bowlers, with two scalps each.

While Gaekwad hammered eight boundaries, Dahiya blasted four boundaries and five sixes in his blitzkrieg. For Phoenix Cricket Club, Rohit Wala was the pick of the bowlers, with 16/2 in two overs.
In reply, Phoenix Cricket Club fought hard and almost chased down the total but fell short of just nine runs in the end. Hoshiyar Rajput was at the helm of the run chase with a 51-ball 77 that included 13 hits to the fence. For A1 Cricket Club, Mayank Ranjan and Amit Dahiya were the most successful bowlers, with two wickets apiece.
In a lopsided affair, Merck beat Navi Mumbai Police by 71 runs during the Times Shield ‘C’ Division match. Merck batted first in the quart-final game at Khar Gymkhana, Mumbai.
Riding on Prateet Gotsurve’s power-packed 85 off 78, Merck posted a respectable score of 232/8 in 40 overs. The wicket-keeper-batter muscled 10 boundaries and a six during his entertaining innings. Gotsurve has been a prolific batter in the middle order and has played many match-winning knocks for his team.
In reply, Navi Mumbai Police were skittled for 161 and lost the match by 71 runs. Merck’s Shreyas Keskar and Aniket Khadpe rattled the opposition with their disciplined bowling effort. While Keskar claimed 31/5, Khadpe accounted for 29/3.

Batting first, New Hind Sporting Club piled up a mammoth 340 in 70 overs. Siddhant Adhatrao starred with the bat as he packed a punch with a scintillating 131 not out. Pranav Kela (56), Sumit Ghadigaonkar (45), and Ayush Zimare (34) joined the party by making useful contributions with the bat for New Hind Sporting Club. On the other hand, Dr. D.Y.Patil Sports Academy’s Iqbal Abdulla was the pick of the bowlers with 95/3.
In reply, Dr. D.Y.Patil Sports Academy fought hard but were bowled out for 300 in 66.3 overs to lose the match by 40 runs. Aman Khan led the run chase from the front with 120 and Hardik Tamore chipped in with 83. Yogesh Takawale also made his presence felt with a valiant 41. On the other hand, New Hind Sporting Club’s Parikshit Valsangkar and Akshay Jambhekar wreaked havoc with the ball, claiming 112/6 and 87/4, respectively.
Victory Cricket Club took on MIG Cricket Club during the Young Comrade Shield on January 21 and 22. MIG Cricket Club won the toss and elected to bat.
Riding on twin half-centuries from Pragnesh Kanpillewar and Kaushal Valsangkar, MIG Cricket Club posted 185 in 44.3 overs. While Kanpillewar smashed 57, Valsangkar blasted 55. On the other hand, Victory Cricket Club’s Shashank Attarde and Vijay Gohil wreaked havoc with the ball. Attarde claimed 53/3 and Gohil bagged 58/4.
In reply, Victory Cricket Club completed the formalities in 41.2 overs and won the match by six wickets. Jay Bista (86) and Jay Jain (75 not out) led the run chase from the front for Victory Cricket Club. On the other hand, MIG Cricket Club did not have a memorable day at the office with the ball.
Railways and Chandigarh clashed against each other during their Elite Group D Ranji Trophy match between January 17 and 20. Chandigarh won the toss and elected to bowl at Sector 16 stadium in Chandigarh.
Asked to bat first, Railways posted a competitive total of 386 in 108.1 overs. Opening batter Vivek Singh and captain Upendra Yadav were the major contributors for Railways with the bat. While Singh mustered 108 off 215, Yadav smashed 113 off 138. Both the batters hammered 12 boundaries and a six each. On the other hand, Chandigarh’s Sandeep Sharma was the wrecker-in-chief with the ball, claiming 116/6 in 29 overs, including three maidens.
In reply, Chandigarh declared their innings at 485/8 in 149 overs, taking a 99-run lead. Captain Manan Vohra (126) and Gaurav Puri (102 not out) were the two centurions for Chandigarh. On the other hand, Railways’ Himanshu Sangwan was the pick of the bowlers with 64/3 in 25 overs, including eight maidens.
Though they trailed by 99 runs, Railways started their second innings on a positive note. Shivam Chaudhary (33 not out) and Pratham Singh (26 not out) steered their side to 71/1 in 17 overs after Pratham Singh (5) fell cheaply in the fourth over. Hartejaasvi Kapoor drew the first blood for Chandigarh.
The match between Railways and Chandigarh ended in a draw.
Datamatics and Income Tax B team played against each other during the Times Shield on January 21. Income Tax B team won the toss and elected to bowl at Azad Maidan.
Put into bat first, Datamatics posted a challenging total of 290/5 in 45 overs. Datamatics’ Jay Dhatrak top-scored with 88 and Shashank Jadhav chipped in with a useful 66. In reply, Income Tax B team failed to chase the target. Datamatics’ Shashank Jadhav wreaked havoc with the ball, claiming a five-wicket haul.

The successful corporate entity namely Intertrust Group enjoyed a remarkable one day event at Cheda Nagar cricket ground which was organized by Cricketgraph. The employees from the Intertrust Group competed in a tennis ball cricket tournament at Chembur.
During the game, one of the company representatives namely Jitin Sawla shared some kind words on the well-arranged cricket tournament.

Balpreet Singh Saini is a prolific run-scorer playing for the Vasant Vihar High School in Thane. Still U-14, Saini has managed to score almost 1000 runs in the 2022-23 season. His notable performances were against the Rizvi Springfield and Hiranandani Foundation School.
Against the mighty Rizvi Springfield, Balpreet hammered a smashing 189 off just 123 deliveries in a 37-over game in the Mumbai Indians U-14 Tournament. Balpreet managed to hit 25 boundaries as his team reached 339. No other batsmen passed the 30-run mark and his innings was the difference maker. Ultimately, Rizvi were bowled out for just 139 as VVHS won the game by a margin of 200 runs.
In the Finals of the U-14 Ghantali Trophy, Balpreet Singh Saini had another successful outing with the bat. Opening the innings, Saini faced 116 balls scoring 124 for his team at the Dadoji Kondev Stadium. HIs innings comprised of 11 fours and 3 sixes. He formed crucial partnerships with Parth Panchamatia (40 off 63) and Vedant Chavan (51 off 47) to take the team’s total to 250 in 42 overs.
After a dominant display with the bat, VVHS bowled out HFS for 128 and claimed the championship for themselves.
Balpreet Singh Saini’s talent is one to be kept an eye upon for the near future.
