Shri Swami Samarth Cricket academy organized a T10 night cricket tournament only for Navi Mumbai schools. A total of 16 
school teams are participating in this knock-out tournament. Finals of this tournament will be held on 20th Feb 2015 at Shri Swami Samarth cricket ground in Airoli. Matches usually start from 5 pm and go on till 11 pm.
School students seems to be enjoying the first edition of the tournament thoroughly with flood lights, white ball, Music system, trophies for man of the match.
Akash S ( Ex-Ranji player) along with Rupesh Patil have initiated this tournament and they are hopeful of making these tournament bigger in the coming months. Prior to this, they have successfully conducted an Inter College Night Cricket Tournament on the same ground.

When the sun rose on 15th Feb the entire country knew it was not going to be a normal Sunday. Millions of Indians were getting geared to log on to their T.V sets to witness yet another epic Indo – Pak battle in the world cup. The scene at the Police gymkhana, Mumbai was almost similar except the TV sets missing, 8 teams from Axis bank (West Region) were getting ready to battle it out and to book a place in the National Finals of Axis Premier League. 4 teams from Mumbai, Bhopal, Pune , Nagpur and Gujarat were there to prove their worth. Strong Contenders Axis Rockets (Mumbai) took on Bhopal team but the visitors sent the hosts in after winning the toss,Axis Rockets piled up an impressive 92. The visitors world was cut out when they were informed that they need to achieve their target in 5 overs. Bhopal could not and the Rockets were off to a winning start first up.
Other Mumbai teams (Mumbai Pillars and Mumbai Falcons) and Vibrant Gujarat too put in an valiant effort but were knocked out of the competition by much stronger opponents leaving the first Semi finals clash between Axis Rockets Mumbai and Pune Axivision.
The Rockets piled up an huge 111 in their 10 overs thanks to a rousing start from their openers and middle order who consolidated further. At that point of time it looked like Rockets would easily sail through but Pune Axivision showed of material they are made of. Their counter attack was brilliant and stunned the Rockets team with Parikshit holding the fort for the Pune team. In the final over it was down to 10 runs required in 4 balls and then things fell apart for the Pune Axivision team.Axis Rockets made it to the Mega Finals.
But the team that impressed the most was Nagpur Navigators. A very good all round team with plenty of talent, they raised the bar when it mattered the most in the semi finals against Mumbai Eagle Gunners. The Gunners put up a challenging 90 plus but Nagpur Navigators too had enough fire power in their batting line up.The last over bowled by Nitin Shetty of Eagle Gunners was very good until a misfield at third man cost a boundary. Dot balls on the fourth and fifth balls and with one needed of last ball, It was pin drop silence at the Police Gymkhana. A perfect straight drive of the last ball and Nitin tried his best to stop on his follow through but could not and the Navigators camp erupted in joy and deservingly sailed to the National finals.
The icing on the cake was India’s victory over Pakistan, but at the Police Gymkhana were Axis Rockets and Nagpur Navigators teams celebrating their achievements, while the sun was setting down on the western side of the ground, it was perfectSunday with Perfect day of Cricket.
Notable performance of the day
Sanket of Nagpur Navigators for Picking 10 wickets and thrice on the thresh hold of hat trick with his immaculate left arm spin plus scoring 28 runs with the bat.
He was rightly adjudged Man of the series and Best Bowler.

The biggest Eye Donation Awareness Campaign was initiated last year with full zeal and enthusiasm. Clubbing the cause with an entertaining cricket match to target the youth was appreciated by many. This year, top 32 colleges across Mumbai participated in the knockout match which started on 29th January and successfully ended on 5th February 2015.
Selected top 16 colleges will battle the league matches to win the Inter College Cricket Championship Trophy. All the matches will be played on professional fields and special arrangements are made to conduct the finale match on Sachin Tendulkar’s home ground, MIG Bandra.
The event will attract wide media coverage with celebrities attending the Press Conference and spreading the awareness of Eye Donation.

In the E division clash between The Times of India Sports Club against Mumbai Port Trust, Times won the toss and elected to field. MPT batsmen played well and scored 253 in 45 overs. Leading scorers were Deepak Kamble scoring 77 runs of 71 balls hitting 9 fours . Gajendra K scored 80 runs off 85 balls with the help of 10 Fours and Lobhas C chipped in at the fag end with 30 off 35 balls.
Most of the Times bowlers were scored off badly at an overall average of 6 per over. Sandip Vaity finished off with 9 -41 – 2 wickets; speedster Prassana Shetty 7-49-2wickets and Anil Khushwa with 9 over – 47 runs – 2 wickets.
Times Batters started off slowly but never looked in command. The only notable performance was that from P. Mohite who missed out on half century and fell for 48 runs and Anil Khushwa fell for 41 runs of 48 runs. Times team was all out in 38.3 overs for 165.
Leading wicket taker was Premanth Chavan picking up 5 wickets off 9 overs and giving only 39 runs. He was supported well by Kiran Pednekar who finished off with 9 -30-2
Mid-Day Gujarati cup, a trophy which every Gujju cricketer aspires to lay his hands on. The journey to finals is never easy and only the best teams make it to the final round. So the date was set on 14 Feb 2015, Central Railway Ground, Parel in Mumbai between same opponents as 2013-Defending champions Charator Rukhi against Kutchi Lohana. Before we take you through the details of this epic finals, let us brief you about some unique features of Mid-Day T10 Cup. For starters, the finals are comprised of 2 innings like a test match, a test match with 2 innings of 10 overs each. Every 5th over is a super over, meaning every run scored gets doubled and each wicket means minus 10 runs to the batting side total. Two consecutive sixes gets converted to 21 runs and every 3 consecutive fours scored gets converted to 18 runs. Maiden over hurts the most, since it also means minus 10 runs from batting total. Now that’s a lot of mathematics to take care of in a cricket match but this is what makes MID-DAY T10 tournament unique. Well then be ready for the journey now…
Kutchi Lohanas skipper Jayesh Thakkar won the toss and elected to bat in the first innings. A decision which never looked wrong even for a moment. Kutchi Lohana openers Kapil 20 (11balls) and Kirtan Manek 41 (21 balls) got off to a flying start, scoring 67 runs of the first 4 overs. KL team would have expected a total of 125-130 given the flying start however good controlled bowling by CR team restricted the total to 99 . There was no stand out performance by CR’s bowlers in the first innings. First innings was completely dominated by KL and everyone almost wrote off the CR team.
Given the imposing score of 99, one would have imagined some complacency by KL bowlers however it wasn’t so. CR batsmen started off very cautiously and they were placed at 25 for 1 in 4 overs. KL captain threw the ball to his trusted lieutenant – Vishal Ruparel a lefty medium pace bowler who has earned the reputation of being the super over specialist. And he didn’t let his team down and picked up 2 wickets in the super over which meant minus 20 runs and CR total was reduced to a embarrassing score of 5 runs in 5 overs at the loss of 2 wickets. There was an air of supremacy in KL camp and obviously so. However another lefty player had other plans in store. A lethal opener batsman Chetan Solanki never looked out of control. He maintained a very low profile in the first 5 overs only to unleash a furry of sixes and fours. His first target was Mukesh, a left arm spinner who was hammered for 19 runs in his very first over. Second victim was the speedester Dhruv who finished with a dismal performance of 29 runs off 2 overs. To chetan’s delight, Mukesh came in to bowl his second over. Mukesh finished off with 37 runs off 2 overs. Chetan was not out on 74 from 31 balls. Captain Khimiji Makwana offered good support to chetan from other end and sacrificed his wicket in the tail end of the innings. CR team ended their first innings total at 94 only 5 runs behind KL. Who would have imagined a total of 94 runs when they were struggling at 5o-5Runs-2 wickets. It was an innings completely dominated by Chetan Solanki who got a thunderous applause for his 74 not out with 7 sixes and 5 Fours.
Kutchi Lohanas team had a slow start to the 3 innings and their batsmen seemed to get into a shell and never came out of that zone. Skipper Khimji deployed his resources brilliantly and operated only with spinners in the first phase. It was a good disciplined bowling by CR spinners and the stand out performance was another left arm spinner – Nitin Solanki who finished with remarkable figures of 10 runs in 2 overs and 3 key wickets. Kirtan Manek tried to offer some resistance but it was never enough. Kutchi Lohana eneded their 3 innings with a total of 60 runs and earlier lead of 5 runs, setting a target of 66 off 10 overs. 
It seemed like a small target given the form of CR batsmen. Chetan Solanki as usual lived true to his reputation and scored a nicely crafted 27 runs off 24 balls. He was supported well by Naresh who was not out on 20 off 21 balls. Chetan achieved the target by hitting a huge six over long on.
In the end, the title was won by the most deserving team – Charotar Rukhi.

The first match of 6th Vikas group cricket tournament was played at Raja Nahar Singh Stadium between Sata Vikas and Foundry. Foundry won the toss and elected to field, which at that point seemed to be a wise decision,however there was a big surprise awaiting them.
Foundry’s team got to a steady start scoring 24 runs in the first 4 overs. First victim was Satish who fell for 10(12) to good bowling by Sohan lal. Rakesh and Parwinder got into a good partnership of 38 runs after Satish’s wicket and set up a good foundation for a big total.
Everyone from Foundry’s team contributed in bits and pieces however what stood out was some insane batting display from Harish, with a quick fire 24 runs of just 19 balls.
It was a mammoth total for Foundry team right from start requiring 8.3 runs per over and the Sata Vikas bowlers were in no mood of mercy. Man of the Match Satish got most of the batsman out cheaply and his bowling performance stood out with 3 overs – 12 runs and 3 wickets. He was later adjudged man of the match as well for splendid performance with both bat and ball. Sandeep Kumar too picked up 4 wickets in 3.4 overs giving only 21 runs.
All the bowlers picked up atleast one wicket except Adil who completed his quota of overs without any luck.
The lone batsman who stood out from Foundry was Ganesh who scored 21 runs off 19 balls.
With such kind of performance, Sata Vikas definitely is a team to watch out for.

Capital T20 cricket league witnessed another one sided victory in the divisional finals between BMC and OMNI cricket team.
Summary Scores
BMC Krida Bhavan – 166 /5 in 20 overs. Sandesh Paralkar 64 (44), Milind Arekar 36(36) , Santosh Dande took 3 wickets in 4 overs and gave away only 10 runs.
OMNI got all out for 72 runs in 17 overs.
BMC won the finals by a huge margin.

Multi Screen Media (Sony Tv) wins the finals of Group E against Siyaram Poddar Group in Capital T20 corporate cricket tournament. Finals was played at Wankhade Stadium. Batting first Multiscreen Media set a mammoth target of 171-5.Batsmen Man of the Match Vipin Chaurasiya 59 (38), Amey Jadhav 36(28) and some solid hitting by Vishal Pandey 30(16) set a solid foundation for 171-5. Siyaram batsmen kept loosing wickets too frequently which could have been for various reasons – Final match of the group, pressure of performing at an imposing venue and neat disciplined bowling by Multi screen media bowlers.
Siyaram Poddar’s captian Tushar Jhaveri 33(31) and Mohit Awashti 48(38), tried to put a brave front with steady batting however wickets kept tumbling at the other end. In the end this final match turned out to be a one-sided wherein Siyaram Poddar lost by almost 54 runs.
With this win, Multiscreen Media
should hopefully rank up a division in next years Capital Corporate T20 cricket league.

Kings XI Punjab Talent Hunt
This is a unique opportunity for mumbai cricketers to show cause their talent and get noticed. And if you are really talented then you may also end up playing in Kings Punjab IPL team in 2015. Selection process will start soon and its open for players above 16 years of age. There is no age bracket for getting selected. If Pravin Tambe from Rajasthan Royals can make an IPL debut at the age of 41, then you too can ! Below are the selection details.
“Play for Kings” is being conducted for the selection of 32 best players to play Kings Cup, which will be held in March 2015.
Best 16 players will get to participate in tournament against current Kings XI Punjab Team.
The participants will be selected based on their performance in the event, which will be adjudged by the on field coaches at the event. Participant will be given one chance (max of 6 balls) to bat/bowl against other participants.
Registration procedure is elaborate, after filling up hard copy of the form, we will upload details on Kings XI Punjab portal, a unique ID will be generated and used for recording and registering the Participants’ performance. We will need forms filled out by Friday so that we can upload all the details over the weekend.

The final of Architect T20 was completely a once sided game. SSA Strikers were outplayed because of strong performance put up by Edifice team. SSA strikers had beaten Edifice few seasons ago in same tournament and that too in a final match only. Edifice took a revenge by comprehensively defeating Strikers this time. Tushar Koli, Edifice captain won all important toss and put SSA Strikers into bat. The earlier game for 3rd place was a high scoring game. It looked like Edifice would be chasing a high score given the fact that Strikers had some good batting line up.
Edifice though had other plans. Right from the beginning they played top quality cricket and didn’t give any chance to Strikers to make a comeback. Edifice opening bowlers Mahesh Hirpara and Sameer Paradhi bowled at good line and length and restricted Striker’s openers from hitting easy boundaries. Hardik Naik and Sandeep Shirke looked to hang in their but eventually lost their wickets in order to increase the run rate. Strikers were struggling at 50 for 3 with Nitin Gawade trying to rebuild their innings.
But it was Heth Shah who turned the match completely by taking spectacular hat-trick. Gaurav Koli was trapped in front first, Rupesh Londhe followed him immediately after wicket keeper took a sharp catch and Heth was all set for hat-trick ball. Shravan Yadav, Striker’s batsman who was facing the hat-trick ball, failed to read the spin and Edifice players were rejuvenated as Heth had almost confirmed the victory for them. From 50 for 3, Strikers were reduced to 50 for 6. Their tail made little efforts to put some more runs board but Strikers could only manage to score 75 runs. Heth Shah finished with blistering figures of 4 overs 1 maiden 4 for 14. He got good support from his fellow left arm spinner Ravi Sarangan, who too almost took a hat-trick by taking 2 wickets on consecutive deliveries.
Target of 76 was just a cakewalk for Edifice who had a very strong batting line up. However, these low scoring matches often end up in debacle. But Edifice openers, Mahesh Hirpara and Amit Jeewani played sensible cricket without any hurry. Mahesh Hirpara scored 38 before getting out while Amit scored 12. Their No.3 batsmen Sumeet Vengilat took further responsibility on his shoulders by scoring composed 26. In 12th over itself Edifice won the match and thus proved their dominance.
“We were also looking to chase but unfortunately things didn’t go as per planned. Their bowlers bowled well and we couldn’t even complete our 20 overs. We enjoyed playing in this tournament and our track record is also good as we were champions once and runner up twice before. The organization has been pretty good. We are happy with umpiring, scoring and also the technology which these guys are using. We are already looking forward to return next year in this tournament,” said Sandeep Shirke, SSA Striker’s captain.
“I am overjoyed right now. We knew that our team has that ability and we have done it today. All the hard work and practice has been fruitful. Everyone has contributed equally in our journey till here. I got best support from management and others during this tournament.
