One run. One ball. One wicket. It was that close between Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies & Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College. In the end it was SSCBS who held their nerve to clinch the nail biting thriller by 1 wicket in Delhi University inter college knock outs.

The match was reduced to 30 overs a side due to a delayed start due to wet pitch conditions. ARSD captain Deepswar Tyagi won the toss and opted to bat first despite the conditions favoring the bowling. ARSD managed 152 runs for the loss of 9 wickets at the end of their stipulated 30 overs. Captain Tyagi top scored with 41 (47 balls, 5×4) with good support from Abhishek Gosai (36 runs, 41 balls, 4×4) and Anil Thapa (30 runs, 35 balls, 2×4, 1×6). SSCBS captain Nikhil Yadav rotated his bowlers very well and ARSD could not really increase the tempo of their innings. Everyone chipped in with the wickets with 4 bowlers sharing 2 wickets each and a solitary wicket going to the captain.

The chase was never going to pose a big challenge against a strong batting line up of SSCBS but despite the efforts of their captain Nikhil (76 runs, 72 balls, 9×4, 2×6) and Samyak Jain (30 runs, 34 balls, 2×4), the match went to the last ball where anything could have happened. As many as 15 extras were given by ARSD bowlers. Viswajeet was the best bowler taking 3 wickets and giving away just 22 runs in his 6 overs.

The turning point of the match was when Nikhil Yadav was caught out on the boundary off the bowling of Akash Dubey off a NO Ball. He then smashed a six and four in the same over bringing the equation down to below 20 runs. SSCBS though did make their life  difficult my losing wickets quickly towards the business end of the match but Anuj Rana of SSCBS held his nerve and got the ball through the infield and won the match for his team.

Born on 1st August’1972, Sir Chandrashekhar has completed 42 years of his life. Started playing Cricket at the age of 13 years, he played various tournaments during his School and College days. He is proud today to mention that he has played under Captaincy of master blaster Sachin Tendulkar in 1987-88 for Under-15 Mumbai Cricket team. His other achievement is representing for Thane District Team in “Satkar & Sport Star Trophy”. He has played Club Cricket in “A” and “B” division tournaments.

Due to his enthusiasm towards Cricket, he started Cricket Coaching under name of Kwality Sports Club at Dadoji Konddev Stadium in Thane in year 2003. We are happy to mention that in today’s world of high cost towards Cricket Learning, Sir Chandrashekhar is giving a free of cost Cricket Training including Cricket Kits in his coaching camp to the financially deprived children’s at his own cost!

Sir Chandrashekhar feels happy to state that, from his Thane Coaching Club, 2-3 students has played Division “A” tournaments. His big achievement as coach is, his one of the student “Jaideep Pardeshi” represented as a Vice Captain for Under-16 & Under-19 Mumbai Cricket Team. In the present year, Jaideep has represented Under-23 Mumbai team.

His another Student “Vaibhav Mali” represented Under-19 Mumbai Team. Last year Vaibhav had made a record of scoring a fastest Century in 36 balls in MIPL Cricket Tournament at Bhiwandi. Recently Vaibhav has been selected for 2 senior T-20 practice match teams out of which, he has been selected in one of the team as player.

Sir Chandrashekhar has extended his high quality experience as a Cricket Coach to Corporate Cricket teams like “Piramal Enterprises” and “Abbott Healthcare Private Limited”.

Sir Chandrashekhar started his corporate  coaching career with “Piramal Enterprises” in 2008. He receives full support during the cricket coaching camps from all his team members including top management members of Piramal Group; Mr. Anand Piramal (Executive Director) and Mr. R. It clearly indicates the respect and sincerity towards Sir Chandrashekhar.

After starting coaching with “Piramal Enterprise”, Sir Chandrashekhar started coaching with “Abbott Healthcare Pvt. Ltd.” In 2011. From this team as well, Sir received complete support and respect from all the members including Mr. A. Rehman Siddiqui and top management members like Mr. Praveen Singh (General Manager).

Both the above corporate teams faced challenge of time restriction for practice since all employees were busy during the week days due to office work. Hence practice is done only on Saturdays & Sundays. Hence this was a big challenge for Sir Chandrashekhar considering the fitness requirement of players during the matches of 20 / 35 / 45 overs. But this difficulty is overcome by Sir, by guiding the players to maintain their fitness by doing day to day exercise for atleast 15 minutes. Also both the teams are doing the practice at Shivaji Park next to each other, it makes easy for Coach Sir to merge the players from both teams. This gives a good exposure and experience to players.

After starting the coaching to above corporate teams, the winning percent of the teams has increased from 10% to 75% because of the hard work performed by the team members with the help of Coach Sir. The hardwork of Sir Chandrashekhar is proving day by day!

Every victory sounds sweet and every defeat painful, more so if you win a match from losing position or lose from a winning position. The proof of the same is the outcome of the match between R.C. Bombay club and R.C .Nariman Point on March 8th, 2015 at the Lions Cricket Ground, Mumbai.

R.C. Bombay central captain Ketan shah won the toss and elected to bat, R.C.Bombay Central were bowled for 129 in 17.2 overs of their allotted 20 overs. A. Chowala played good hands scoring 35 of 29 balls with 3 boundaries and 1 six. Rohan Timblo with 15 runs, Vidyut shah and Ferze Rokadia contributing 14 each played their part. Others just caved in.

It was good all round bowling performance by R.C. Nariman with Ravi R. the most successful bowler with 3 wickets and Mehul Gada and Mayur Maroo chipping with 2 wickets each to restrict their opponents.

RC Bombay Central wining team rotary

R. C. Nariman Point meant business right from the word go and Pritesh Gada (38 runs ) with six boundaries and one six sent the R.C.B C bowlers on a leather hunt. At one stage with the score reading at 93 for one with only 35 runs required with 9 wickets in hand, the collapse began and  R.C.N.P batting fell like nine pins. Ankit chopra Man of the Match bowled one his best spells in his career with 4 wickets for 8 runs thus proving the best of cricketers never give up till the end. The captain got into the act too with 2 wickets and one each for Hemal shah, Sunil Vasani and A. Chowala. Mayur Maroo was left stranded with 26 runs with three boundaries and a six and watched his colleagues at the other end departing one after another. R.C.N.P were all out for 118 runs in 19 overs.
In the end the victory margin for R.C. Bombay Central was 11 runs. Surely lot to ponder and think for Subhash’s team while R.C.B.C have every right to celebrate and enjoy.
Its these kind of unbelievable outcomes which  takes us to the customary thought  in cricket “You never know till the end”. It certainly happened on that day.

One requires  thought , vision , the will to work and implement the thoughts into action in order to achieve what we want to. Yes it began 3 years ago for S.B.S.C (Saifee Burhani Sports Club Cricket Tournament ) wherein the idea and the intention was to bring the entire Dawoodi Bohra Community under one roof. S.B.S.C  were in search of the way as to how they could bring the entire community together. Along with it wanted to contribute towards health and fitness of individuals as their prime motto, decided that the game of Cricket was one of the very best option for them. It was not all that a challenging total but competitive enough. A great start is almost half the job done and that was achieved by the Husami openers Huzefa Saria 22 runs and Aziz Rampurwala 17 runs who put on 54 runs for the opening wicket.
Despite  the opening stand was broken, the Bhayender bowlers sprayed all over the place conceding 20 wides, which did not help their cause. Husami Mohalla held on to their nerves and  crossed the target losing only 3 wickets and with 2 balls to spare.
The match almost went till the end much to the expectations of all and another glorious chapter was written in SBT T10 cricket event.

Sporting Union clashed with Youth Own Cricket club in the opening match of  Kanga League Knockout tournament.

The match was straight out of a Bollywood thriller you could say and till the end one could never predict who what was going to happen.
Sporting union lost the toss and  Youths Own cricket club elected to bat first.  Sporting union  did well to restrict Youth own to 118 in 27 overs.  The mainstay of Youth own cricket club was Akshay Thakur who scored 47 (59)valuable runs. They say once  you get yourself in especially at the top, then you need to build your innings for others to play around you. That’s what Akshay did and although wickets were falling at the other end, he never lost focus and paced his innings and batted almost till the end. A cameo of 17 runs in a over by Sachin Todankar 21(19) added spice and  respectability to the total.

Santosh Peveker bowled his heart out for his 3 wickets for Sporting Union with his leg spin and  proving that if you bowl with tremendous control and confidence you reap the benefits. Truly Santosh was rewarded for his efforts. Pankaj Kori too bowled well and picked and ended with 4 overs 22 runs and 3 wickets.

Santosh Pevekar , picked up 4 wickets
Santosh Pevekar , picked up 3 wickets
In reply the Sporting Union batting was crumbling and were faulting in their chase with wickets falling at regular intervals. When the penultimate wicket fell ,  close to 25 runs were required for Sporting Union and at that stage it looked like in favour of Youth Own C.C. But cricket is a game of glorious uncertainties.  Yet again it was proved right and this time by the last wicket pair of Sporting Union (Sanjay Naik and Santosh Pevekar). They put on 25 runs and saw their side Sporting union through. It certainly was a thrilling match.

Akshay Thakur shone yet again this time with the ball picking up 5 wickets with his off spins and the dangerous quicker ones and effecting a brilliant run

out.

Akshay Thakur

But the honours for the man of the match went to Santosh Pevekar of Sporting Union for his allround performance, but lets applaud Akshay Thakur’s efforts also.
All In all both the sides played well and of course it was huge sigh of relief for the winning team Sporting Union. Cricket too was victorious  today.

In the end, Sporting Union managed to win by 1 wicket.
