A high scorer. A tied game. An absolute thrilling finish. What more can you expect from a cricket match as a spectator. In the end one team emerge as winners and the other one lost, not due to playing bad the full 40 overs but due to not playing that 1 super over well. That’s Cricket for you. All that effort of 40 overs is nullified by one over. Dental Wagon edged out AMS by 6 runs in the super over to win their encounter in Milan Corporate League 2015.
AMS won the toss and elected to bat first. Openers Shriyank (30, 22 balls) and Yusuf (58, 43 balls) provided a great start scoring 63 runs in just 7 overs. Yusuf added 50 runs with the next batsman Sandeep as well. Handy contributions from Prajwal and Bismal enabled AMS to post a challenging 177 on the board. There were as many as 27 extras in the innings. Four bowlers managed a wicket each for Dental Wagon.
Chasing 178, Dental Wagon began decently but lost opener Dharam in the third over. Kavish and Chang joined hands for a 59 runs stand in less than 7 overs to keep the run chase on track. They soon lost the third wicket as well and match was hanging in balance. Three batsmen from the lower middle order-Saddam (20), Priyesh (18) and Pradnesh (34) took their team closer to the target. They needed 9 runs from the last over but it turned out to be a comedy of errors by them that forced the match to be decided by the super over. As many as 4 wickets fell in the last over and all via run outs showing the lack of application by the tail enders of Dental Wagon. On the last ball 2 runs were required but the last pair could not complete the second run and the match was tied.
Shriyank managed to pick a couple of wickets while three other bowlers captured a wicket each.
In the Super Over, Wagons batted first and scored 9 runs after Dharam Malji lost his wicket. Paresh Pandit was handed the responsibility for defending 9 runs with the ball and he started with a wide ball. Next ball he got a wicket. Only 1 run was scored off the next two balls and on the 4th ball, he delivered an excellent Yorker to uproot the middle stump of the batsman. With this, Dental Wagon won the match by 6 runs.
Pradnesh was adjudged the man of the match for his knock of 34 and scoring crucial runs in the super over.
Paresh Pandit from Wagons told CricketGraph, “It was a great experience. The match really went down to the wire. It was obviously a lot of pressure in the super over. Team showed faith in me and I am happy that I delivered. Overall it was a good team effort.”

With the help of fine 131 runs partnership between Haryana’s Ranji star Abhimanyu Khod (125 not out, 18×4 4×6 b94) and Delhi Ranji player Manan Sharma (49 5×4 2×4 b50) for the 2nd wicket in 18.5 overs, Sonnet Cricket Club move into quarter final of the 42nd All India Goswami Ganesh Dutt Memorial Cricket Tournament 2015 as they easily defeated BDM XI Meerut by 7 wickets in the PQF match.
Sonnet Cricket Club skipper Rahul Diwan won the toss and invited BDM XI Meerut to bat first. BDM XI Meerut scored only 209 runs before being all out in 38.2 overs with the help of some good by Amandeep Sonker ( 34 5×4 b49), Anil Sihag 22 ( 4×4 b26), Arjun Gupta 35 ( 3×4 b44), and Jagrit Anand 43 ( 2×4 3×6 b35). BDM XI failed to face the pace and spin attack of Sonnet C.C. For Sonnet Cricket Club pace bowler Anirudh Chaudhary bowled well and took 3 wickets for 34 runs in 7 overs. Left arm spinner Manan Sharma also bowled well and took 2 wickets for 48 and leg spinner Manish Kumar took 2 wickets for 27 runs in 8 overs. Siddharth Lohia and Yashpal Singh took 1 wicket each.
In reply Sonnet Cricket Club lost the first wicket of skipper Rahul Diwan (11) at 25. Then Haryana Ranji star Abhimanyu and Delhi star Manan Sharma played excellent knocks and they put on 136 runs for the 2nd wicket in 18.5 overs. When Manan was out after scoring 49 runs with 5×4 2×6 in 50 balls. Pratyush Singh lost his wicket at 196. Then Abhimanyu and Dhruv Shorey scored the needed runs in 30.2 overs and help Sonnet to scored 210 runs by losing 3 wickets. A decent batting performance followed by a devastating bowling show from the opening bowlers handed CapGemini the title of Milan Memorial 40 Over league by a whopping margin of 166 runs. Such a margin of victory will force the readers to think that CapGemini must have made a really big score and then bowled out the opposition. But it’s their bowling that enabled them to secure the victory by such a huge margin even without scoring a very high score.
CapGemini had their luck with the coin and they decided to put runs on the board. Openers Vishwas and Umesh provided a decent solid start to the innings, scoring 52 runs for the first wicket. Due to some solid contributions from the middle order comprising Yogesh and Paresh’s 21 and 45 respectively and some late overs slogging by Jayshil Churi enabled CapGemini to post a competitive 219 in their allotted 40 overs.
Sandesh Agare and Sandesh Bhoir captured a couple of wickets each while other bowlers managed a wicket each for their team.
220 was a challenging total to chase in 240 balls. Add to that the pressure of finals. That is what took Abbott by surprise. What also took them by surprise was the opening bowling combination of Cap Gemini. The pair of Jayshil and Ashwin bowled the spells of their lives and shared all 10 wickets between themselves. The just demolished the batting line up of Abbott, as they folded for mere 53 runs in the 15th over, thereby losing by 166 runs. Not a single Abbott batsmen could withstand the bowlers as they succumbed to the pressure. Jayshil captured a 6 wicket haul while Ashwin walked away with 4.
This without a doubt can be termed as one of the most one-sided victories in a tournament final. Jayshil Churi bagged both man of the match and man of the series awards. CapGemini skipper Umesh was adjudged the best batsman and Sandesh Bhoir from Abbott was given the best bowler award.
Rehman Siddique from Abbott says, “It was a great tournament and in the finals we did well to restrict the opposition to below 230. I feel that if we had saved wickets early in our innings, we would have stood a chance. Congratulations to CapGemini for such an excellent bowling performance and winning the tournament.”

Ever since the concept of Super overs was developed to force a result of tied matches, the occurrences have been rare. But it generates a lot of excitement and once again gives an equal chance to both the teams to win the match, no matter what has happened earlier. And if this happens in a tournament final, it surely becomes a treat for the spectators. In the final of Milan Corporate League T20, Kotak Mahindra edged out Mihir Trading to win by 2 wickets in the super over and lift the title.
Mihir Trading won the toss and elected to bat first. They were off to a great start with openers Shrey (45 runs, 37 balls) and Jay (14 runs, 20 balls) scoring 60 runs in 9 overs. But the turnaround happened when 3 wickets fell in the space of 2 overs, jolting Mihir’s progress. In the next 7 overs, Mihir added 48 runs without losing any further wickets. But the next turnaround was just about to happen.
In the drama that unfolded in 18th and 19th overs, next 4 wickets fell with the score static at 112. With this they also lost the chance to push the total to a competitive one and ended with just 131. Nishikant captured 4 while Premal captured 3 wickets for their team.
Chasing 132, Kotak had a bad start as both the openers were back with just 12 runs on the board. But No. 3 Ajit (51 runs, 45 balls) and No. 4 Siddharth (30 runs, 24 balls) steadied the ship by adding 59 runs for the 4th wicket. But after this partnership was broken, Mihir picked up wickets at regular intervals and kept the match hanging in balance. It was only due to a brilliant cameo by Tushar (27 runs, 16 balls) towards the end that Kotak were able to reach 131 and take the game to super over. Vishal was the pick of the bowlers for Mihir, scalping 3 wickets for just 15 runs in his 4 overs and sending one maiden.
Now both the teams had equal chance to win the game but Kotak must be cursing themselves at this stage not to pull off the game earlier. And as it turned out, Kotak held their nerve in the super over to emerge out as champions by 2 wickets. Premal captured two wickets in the super over giving away 10 runs. Kotak chased down the total on the 6th ball with a six by Siddharth, thus winning by 2 wickets.
Ajit Singh was given the awards for Man of the match and best batsman. Vishal Gajra from Mihir trading won the best bowler title. Meer Ibrahim walked away with the Man of the Series title.

In the final of Dreamz Trophy Elite Group Plate Division, HUL displayed some high quality cricket to defeat their opponents Deutsche Bank by 6 wickets and win the trophy. After an excellent team bowling effort, that restricted the opposition to a below par total, HUL batsmen kept the game in control and won it comfortably with almost 4 overs to spare.
HUL captain Sachin won the toss and considering the dampness in the pitch, opted to bowl first. His decision was spot on as they got the wicket of opener Siddharth on the very first ball of the match. All the HUL bowlers bowled with a tight line and length and were well supported by their fielders. As a result, Deutsche Bank could not really boost up the run rate. This is evident from the fact that No. 3 Vishi took 36 balls for his 21. It was only due to Abhishek’s quick fire 19 ball 30 and some last overs hitting from Gaurav and Rahul took them past 120. Respectable total yet unsafe. Sanjay and Nilesh captured a couple of wickets each while Rajesh picked up a solitary wicket.
126 was relatively an easy target to win the match and more importantly the tournament. But HUL did not have a great start to their innings either as they lost their openers early in the innings. But Dhiraj and Rajesh held the innings together and took the game away from the opposition with some excellent batting display. Dhiraj scored a match winning knock of 43 while Rajesh remained unbeaten on 33 from just 21 balls. He sealed the game for his team by hitting a huge six in the 17th over. Deutsche bowlers could not do much while defending a low score and match was lost well before it ended.
With this, HUL are the winners of Dreamz White Ball Tournament. Dhiraj Shetty won the man of the match award for his superb batting display while Rajesh Jadhav grabbed the best bowler title.
While speaking to CricketGraph, HUL skipper Sachin said, “We bowled really well and our fielding made the difference. After we lost our first wicket, Dhiraj batted well along with Rajesh to take us home. We are really happy to win the tournament.”

Rohtak Road Gymkhana skipper Sumit Mathur won the toss and invited Telefunkan to bat first.
