Reliance produced one of the clinical performances of the season to hand IndusInd Bank a crushing 9 wicket defeat in the Dreamz Champions Trophy Regular A finale and emerge as champions. Bowling first, Reliance did not put a foot wrong as they bundled out the opposition to a below 100 score and then chased down the target with 9 wickets to spare.

Only thing that went right for IndusInd Bank was the toss. But the rest of the day was just not theirs. Opting to bat first, they lost their opener Kailash in the very first over itself for a duck. Rest of the innings had a similar story as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.Neither the run rate was increased nor could the wickets be saved. Sushant top scored with 22 followed by Yogesh who scored 17. Their batsmen could not withstand the accurate bowling by Reliance and succumbed to the final pressure. They were bundled out for 98 eventually.

It was a great day in the field for reliance as all the bowlers contributed to the team’s cause. Zaheer picked up 3 wickets while Siddharth, Ashay and Mayur captured 2 wickets each.

The writing was very clear after the first innings and Reliance batsmen wasted no time in taking their team to the victory. Openers gave a quick start scoring 78 runs in 11.4 overs when Rohit got out on a personal score of 40. Sushant and Abhinav finished the game with more than 6 overs to spare and no further loss of wickets. Kailash picked up the solitary wicket.

It is not necessary to have a high scoring match every time to witness a thrilling match. Sometimes it’s about holding your nerve and enjoying the game that displays every facet of it i.e. bowling and fielding as well. Case in question being the final match of Dreamz Trophy 40 overs where Ajanta Pharma played as a unit and defended a total that cannot be termed as a safe one in today’s slam bang version of cricket. But as is the case, they displayed some high quality cricket and walked away with the title defeating Osians by just 7 runs.

OSIANS
Runners up: Osians

Ajanta Pharma won the toss and elected to bat first. Opener Vighnesh went back for a duck. Sagar Patil played a 21 ball 26 to release the pressure but unfortunately he could not stay for long. The third wicket fell with the scoreboard reading 53. But Prashant (38) and Mandar (41) held the innings together and stitched a partnership of 57 runs for the 4th wicket. After this partnership was broken, the lower middle order could not increase the tempo and lost wickets at regular intervals to end the innings on 191. Only Haresh could manage to score 25. 4 bowlers from Osians took 2 wickets each namely- Aditya, Viral, Jignesh and Shiva.

MOM: Digvijay
MOM: Digvijay

It was no one’s game at the innings break and both teams had equal chance to lift the title. But Osians were at a slight psychological advantage as they were able to stop their opponents to a score less than 200. Osians were off to a decent start with openers scoring 36 runs in 7.2 overs. Digvijay (73*) played through the innings but due to no significant support from other batsmen, could not help his team cross the line. He also played a bit defensively as wickets kept falling at the other end and someone was required to hold one end. But in the end they ran out of overs and were 7 runs short at the end of 40 overs. After his 73, the second highest score was 18.

Man of the Series: Sagar Patil
Man of the Series: Sagar Patil

It was a spirited bowling show from Ajanta Pharma as all their bowlers contributed to controlling the flow of runs and picked up wickets at regular intervals. Dinesh was the pick of the bowlers capturing 3 wickets while Sagar bowler a miserly spell of 8 overs picking up 2 wickets and giving away just 13 runs.

Following individual awards were given at the presentation ceremony:

Best Batsman – Hanumant Matkar (Ajanta Pharma Team)

In yet another one-sided finale of the season, Siyarams defeated Kotak Mahindra by 6 wickets to win the Milan Memorial 40 Overs league. The writing was clear on the wall after the first innings itself when Kotak were shot out for 130 runs. It was just a matter of time when Siyarams overhauled the target in the 27th over to walk away with the trophy.

Runners Up: Kotak
Runners Up: Kotak

Kotak won the toss and elected to bat first. But soon they were on the back foot as neither they could score runs at a decent pace nor prevent the wickets from falling down too quickly. This is evident from the fact that none of their batsmen were able to cross the 25 run mark. Things generally don’t go in your favor when 2 of your top 3 batsmen go out for a duck. Kotak just could not get out this shock till the very end of the innings. It was only due to small yet important contributions from Ajit (21), Bhavesh (20) and Premal (17) that they were able to cross the 100 run mark.

Man of the Series: Premal
Man of the Series: Premal

For Siyarams, Harsh Panchal bowled a brilliant spell scalping 4 wickets while Vinod Mishra walked away with a three wicket haul.

In reply Siyarams were also off to a bad start as they lost both the openers with the scoreboard reading 16 in the 5th over. The match could have gone either way had they lost a couple of wickets more but some sensible batting from Man of the Match Jitendra Gupta (61*) and Dinesh Pawar (25) ensured that there were no further hiccups in chasing the target. Siyarams lost 2 more wickets while reaching the target and Jitendra Gupta remained unbeaten to see his team through.

Man of the Match: Jitendra Gupta
Man of the Match: Jitendra Gupta

For Kotak, Premal bowled a brilliant spell capturing 2 wickets but the score they were defending was too less to pose any trouble for Siyarams.

As mostly happens in our movies, the final match between Kandivli and Malad also went through twists and turns to complete a fitting end. Kandivli pipped Malad by just 5 runs in the low scoring final to emerge as winners.

Kandivli were all out for just 111 runs in their first innings. Those betting against them after the end of their innings were left with disappointment as their bowlers bowled with their hearts out to hand their team a victory and lift the cup. Malad were all out for 106.
