DTU continued their winning streak by defeating Rajput Gymkhana easily by 7 wickets in Sultan Sports Hot Weather Cup.

DTU won the toss and invited Rajput Gymkhana to bat first. Backing their captain’s decision, DTU bowlers shot out the Gymkhana batsmen for mere 88 runs in 18.1 overs. Tasveer Alam was the top scorer with 39 runs. DTU bowlers- Karan, Rahul and Mohit shared 2 wickets each for their team.

In reply, DTU XI easily chased down the target in the 15th over largely due to some sensible batting by Samridh Maurya who remained unbeaten on 46 runs. Shadab captured 2 wickets for Rajput Gymkhana but the score they were defending was nowhere close to put up a challenge for DTU batsmen.

Samridh Maurya was declared Man of the Match for his superb batting show. DTU now face Indian Travel Port in the finals.

Indian Travel Port won the Sultan Sports Hot Weather T20 Cup 2015 by defeating DTU XI in the final by 73 runs.

Batting first, riding on Gaurav’s 67 runs from 49 balls and good support from Ankur (32), Indian Travel Port put up a total of 166 runs on the board. Rahul Meena captured 3 wickets for DTU XI.

167 was never a challenging total for a strong DTU side who hit more than 200 runs in their first match. But this was a different day. Probably the pressure of finals did them in. They collapsed for 94 runs inside 15 overs to suffer a 73 run defeat. Raman top scored with 18 runs to his name.

This was the debut tournament for Ankit Kumar as the DTU skipper. Though they lost in the finals, he surely has a long way to go in the upcoming season.

Salman’s excellent knock of 80 runs and an exceptional show by the bowlers enabled Rajput Gymkhana beat Royal Scots by 20 runs and enter the semi-final of Sultan Sports Hot Weather T20 Cup.

Rajput Gymkhana put up a total of 134 runs for the loss of 8 wickets largely due to Salman’s 80 runs and Amar’s 35 runs. Vipin and Anuj captured 2 and 1 wickets respectively for Royal Scots.

In reply, Royal Scots could not face the super bowling effort of Irfan, Rahul and Jeetendra and were all out for 114 runs thereby losing by 20 runs. Aakash top scored with 25 runs.

Irfan was adjudged man of the match for his math winning figures of 4-0-15-3.

A brief round up of DDCA T20 Tournament Matches:

PNB beat LIC by 5 wickets courtesy Saurabh Passi’s swash buckling knock of 83 runs from 43 balls (4×7, 6×6) and lalit Dahiya’s all round show (32 runs, 2/19) and Manish Kumar’s brilliant spell (3/29). LIC scored 143 runs in their allotted 20 overs. In reply PNB chased down the target in just 18 overs.

Delhi Audit defeated Ban of Baroda by 5 wickets courtesy Pankaj Joshi’s fine knock of 71 runs. Ban of Baroda scored 155 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs. Varun Chadha scored 66 runs. Rohit Saini captured 3/32. In reply, Delhi Audit reached the target in the last over with Pankaj scoring 71 and K.S Rana remaining unbeaten on 50 runs.

Delhi Admin defeated Delhi Police by 5 wickets courtesy deadly bowling performance by  Subhas Chand (3/28)and Narender Malik (2/20) and excellent batting by Kapil (50*) and Sushil Bharti (47*). Delhi Police scored 132 runs batting first with the help of Rajesh Sharma’s 27 runs. Delhi Admin chased down the target in just 13 overs.

Atul’s 5 wicket haul and Kuldeep Tyagi’s good knock of 46 runs guided Indian Travel Port to victory over Sunday Club by 58 runs. With this loss, Sunday Club are knocked out of the tournament.

Batting first, Indian Travel Port scored 188 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Major contributors were Kuldeep Tyagi (46) and Kallu Rana (29). For Sunday Club, Sumit picked up up 2 wickets while Ashok Kumar captured a solitary wicket.

In reply, Sunday Club were never in the hunt while chasing as they could manage only 129 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their innings. Only Hemant (32) and Prashant (27) were able to offer some resistance but rest of the batting just fell apart.

The chief tormentor was Travel Port’s bowler Atul who captured 5 wickets in his 4 overs and single handedly won the game for his team. Atul, for his superb spell of bowling was adjudged the man of the match Atul

The Sultan Sports Hot Weather Cup 2015 kick started at Raj Cricket Ground, Milan Garden, Delhi with Delhi Technical University’s Cricket Team defeating Friends Club easily by 41 runs and opened their account.

Batting first, DTU XI scored a whopping 214 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. They smashed the hapless Friends Club bowlers to all corners of the park en route to their high score. The chief destructor was Karan Narang who played a scintillating knock of 74 runs and was the top scorer for his team. He got excellent support from Raman Prajapati who contributed with an equally important innings of 45 runs. Skipper Ankit Kumar scored 24 runs for his team in what was his captaincy debut for DTU XI after taking over the reigns from Karan Narang.

Sumit Rana and Madhusudan Mehta picked up 2 wickets each for Friends Club.

In reply Friends Club could score only 173 runs for the loss of 9 wickets and collapsed under the pressure of high scoring game. Only Hemu Kashyap (56) and Madhusudan Mehta (42) could withstand the DTU bowlers but their effort was not enough to take their team over the line.

For DTU XI, Rahul Meena captured 3 wickets in his 4 overs. But it was Man of the Match, Mohit Mathew who demolished the Friends Club innings by picking up 4 wickets.

LB Shastri Club defeated Ram Pal Academy easily by 7 wickets in their DDCA League encounter. Unmukt Chand was the star of the day as he hammered RP Academy bowlers for a brilliant knock of 93 runs from just 39 deliveries consisting of 9 fours and 8 sixes.

Batting first, Ram Pal Academy could manage only 186 runs in 35 overs for the loss of 9 wickets. Prashant Vashishth captured 4/29 and Sooraj Rai picked up 3/28 and helped their team restrict the opposition to a below par score.

In reply, LB Shastri innings was all about one man- Unmukt Chand. He single handedly took the game away from the opposition during his scintillating knock. It was due to him that LB Shastri Club scored the required runs in just 20 overs and with 7 wickets to spare. They scored those runs at more than 9 runs per over.

MG Academy defeated Navin Parashar Academy by 2 wickets in a close fought semi-final to reach the final of 2nd Nand Ram Mukhia Memorial U-17 Cricket Tournament.

Batting first, Navin Parashar Academy scored 234 runs in their innings. Major contributors were Kapil Hooda who scored 85 runs and Hitesh Sharma who batted well for his knock of 80. Yash Garg captured 3 wickets for 34 runs and Ayush Chauhan picked up 4 wickets for 20 runs for MG Academy.

In reply, Yash Garg again contributed with a sparkling knock of 77 runs as MG Academy chased down the total with 2 wickets to spare. It was a close match as went down till the last over and MG Academy won with only 3 balls left.
