DDCA Elections 2015

A historical and certainly the longest elections of probably any state sports organization/body finally ended with Tihara Group winning the elections with a majority of 6 seats as against 3 for CK Khanna Group and a solitary seat for Mama Group. Consequently, Shri Vinod Tihara has been elected as the convenor of the committee with Shri Naresh Sharma as his deputy.

Yes we are talking about the much hyped and equally controversial DDCA Sports Working Committee Elections of 2015-16. Originally scheduled to be declared on the next day of the elections held on 1st September, the official outcome took more that two weeks to be officially declared as votes of 5 clubs were supposedly not opened in front of the judges on the very same day.It was a close fought contest between the groups as it really went down to the votes of last 5 clubs to actually determine the winner.

The days following the elections were not without controversy with as many as three lists released for the Delhi Ranji Trophy Probables. This did nothing but further dented the image of DDCA in media. If this was not all, the biggest jolt came when DDCA declined to host the practice match with the visiting South African side on 29th September at Feroz Shah Kotla. It has been shifted to Palam ground now.

CricketGraph’s view: As mentioned in our pre-election coverage, we hope that Shri Vinod Tihara Group work towards building the image of DDCA in the following year and transparency in the work is given a top priority. Delhi has been a top domestic team in the past years and it’s time that it gets its mojo back and bring laurels to the national capital territory in the field of cricket.
